Yeah they're been as up front with us as a baseball player admitting he used steroids after his test results are made public.

Please tell me this is sarcasm I missed.

Because telling us about something less than 24 hours before release, about 3 weeks after it happened, while locking threads discussing it and not responding to questions about it, is not being up front with us.

The issue here is that the definitive answer was given only when sales would be the least affected from the backlash.

This is Marketing and PR 101 , so not exactly a shocker.

This information really needs to be pinned at the top of all the Dragon Age threads.  At least try to let people know it's missing before they buy the game, look for auto-attack, and go "where the heck is it?"<_<

I don't see how that would be applicable here, though, as the possibiliy I outlined isn't something BioWare has claimed (as far as I know).

Someone really needs to follow up on this as ask them how long they've known this issue exists.. I would LOVE to hear the answer to that.

Does it matter? At this point you can't change the timing of the announcement.

It does matter.. I'm calling into question their business practices and integrity.. It's not even about pressing A repeatedly and never was for me.. It was about Bioware knowing about an issue and hiding the information from the public in an effort to not negatively effect sales.

They just had a fracking web-chat saturday where the question was asked during the chat, but completely side stepped and passed by during the answer portion.... come on now...

This should have been mentioned earlier. They have been sidestepping it every time it comes up for a while. Withholding info is almost as bad as lying

Witholding IS lying.  Not almost.  Exact.

Oh ok I get it, so...

Wanting a baby IS having a baby. Not almost. Exact. The thought instantly spawns an infant.

*seriousness engaged* Ok so on a more serious note, withholding information is bad and shouldn't be done. But it is NOT the same as lying. It can't be a lie, because it hasn't even been said.  Obviously the context of the withholding could make it just as bad as lying, but they are not the same.

My issue is not that I have to press A repeatedly, but when multiple enemies are in the same area, pressing A repeatedly causes me to switch targets unintentionally. My hope had been that auto-attack would minimize the unintentional switching of targets.

All the fanboys are so far up Biowares arse i can hardly see them. 'Oh well don't worry, Bioware, we can last month playing dynasty warriors even though the rpg mechanics should've been implemented at the very bliming beginning!'

I'm looking around the internets for a statement from Bioware about this on all the big gamer websites... nothing yet... Maybe 9pm ET after EB closes......

I suspect it would be pretty easy for them to release it as a patch for PC, but for all we know they have to obey some policy about issuing patches for all the platforms at the same time.

Sylvius, you clearly have no idea what this thread is about. It's auto attack for consoles. Consoles. Consoles.

Nothing to do with PCs.

Yeah, that was a dumb thing to say.

I'll ignore your hyperbole and concentrate on the serious part of your post:

Many courts of law, judges, and legal scholars would disagree with you.

To be fair, the PC version does have a very similar issue with AoE targeting. Yet another thing BioWare promised and failed to deliver on.

From what I've seen, no one is trying to excuse BioWare in this. This is unequivocally unacceptable. I'll defend BioWare's design choices to my last breath (okay, that's a little melodramatic), but something like this is just sloppy as all hell.

I dont think implementing an auto-attack feature would warrant a very big update. Ive seen less implemented into 360 games at only around 12MB. it would be easily doable. My problem is with the fact that it wasnt done from the beginning, and we were told that it was.

Fix this Bioware. I havent taken issue with any of the other changes to DA2, in fact ive embraced them. Now your just screwing with the fundamental gameplay though, and I dont appreciate being force to play in an inferior way.

I feel exactly the same.

I disagree.  I insist that a lie must be a false assertion.

Now, arguably they did actually do that, as the developers repeatedly claimed that auto-attack was in the console version.  The difference there is that they honestly thought it was true.  Whether it's still a lie under those circumstances is beyond the scope of this discussion.

They don't have to tell us anything, and yet they do. They have. For months upon months they have. They've given me no indication that they're the sort of people who screw their consumers over, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.

So I have to push a button more often. It's not the end of the world.

I'm really disappointed in this. And not because I wanted auto-attack... I actually never intended to use it. I "mashed the A button" all through Origins even when it did nothing just because it felt natural to do so based on other console RPGs.

But it is disappointing to hear that we have been told that it would be there, and have defended the gameplay BASED on it being there, just to find out it is not.

I really hope this doesn't get swept under the rug. I know some people really want this option.

Yes, this is pretty ****ty Bioware. Not because I'll particularly care about pressing A, but because I've specifically told people that it was still included, cause that's how I was told, and now it's not. Kinda makes me look like a liar.

That said, I was personally leaning towards pressing A anyways, makes me feel a little more involved.

WOW.... just WOW.

This kinda explains, why they locked all those auto-attack threads and avoid the question in the live-stream.

I did not expect this from Bioware, i guess its true $_$ --------------> Customers.

This would explain why the reviewers like Gametrailer etc did not make a review, since they would have probaly mentioned this issue.

Well, you say it must be a false assertion, then you explain that it is, in fact, a false assertion.

Let me say this:  If you and I are negotiating over something, and I tell you something is true, then find out it is not true, yet never correct the impession I gave until AFTER we sign the contract, thus making it too late for you to back out, I have, in fact and in law, lied.

It's catorgorized as a lie, same as if I told it to you right before you signed.

As for whether they knew and when, are you really going to argue that nobody at Bioware knew this until today?  Really?
