I dont think words can fix anything anyway. At this point what you believe is what you believe, whether its what they said or what you think the real case is is not going to change, ever.

In any case, the auto attack will be in. I imagine because of the big stink this has raised, it'll likely be fast, as well.

"Fast" is dependant on the certification process.  And those two words have absolutely nothing in common, let me tell you.

Indeed.

And if the patch turns out to be too big for the MS update process?  Well, xbox users, we got screwed.

So auto attack is not in the console versions after all? I thought it was confirmed that it was? Oh well, I also love action games, so I'll get used to it. It is just I played Origins with the auto attack and was kind of hoping to roll that way again.

Action games have different button combinations for different types of attacks / combos with different damage, speed, range, etc, in that case pressing buttons all the time is basic gameplay, there is a point to it.
Dragon Age is very different : the exact same button, the exact same attack animation, the exact same damage, it's pointless. It also means that you will be unintentionally switching between enemies all the time.

I know what you are saying. I merely meant that while I am having to continually press the A button while my skills are recharging, it will seem more like a real time action game with one button combat. In which sense, it should not be too much of a problem for me given all of the skills that will still be at my disposal. At any rate, I do think that they should have just been honest from the get-go.

Fine, as fast as possible.  But I just dont think words will change anything. Nothing they say can do anythign at this point to change minds, the damage is done. There's really nothing words can do at all, be it from the customers or Bioware.

They could release a statement every single day on this, and it still wont make a lick of difference to anyone. It happened, you can move on, or you can stay outraged. The issue will be fixed either way.

ROFLMAO WHAT AN EPIC FAIL!!! Now I understand why they kept quiet all along about the auto-attack, even in the livestream!!! Reviewers will rape the game for this BIG mistake and ''lie''. Now lets just hope the patch comes within the very first week after launch, any longer than that the game will fail even more. The button-mashing is the only thing that pissed me off in the demo. Waiting for the very last day before the game releases to admit the epic fail is not very professional and definitely a sign of greed with the eye candy adverts, free items etc getting people to preorder...

Except, if the patch is too large for MS, it will NEVER be fixed on the xbox.

I really bloody hate button-masher combat, and I won't play (or buy) this until it's patched. I can say without hyperbole that this completely ruined my week.

Hey. You can't auto-attack all the bisexual love interests no matter what, so keep a stiff upper lip. Or I'll pirate your tea.

We can talk about ifs all we like, but there's no time machine. I might get hit by a bus, I might stub my toe on the desk, I might find 50 bucks.

Bioware might find a way to make it less than the update patch limit, Bioware might not. It might be a nonissue as it would meet the regulations. I'm under the impression this one would not be very big, given its nature.

You guys are arguing over semantics and the true definition of a lie.. Let me do this on a normal level:

1. They said the feature was in the game a month plus ago
2. The game went gold over 3 weeks ago, with the feature not in the game
3. They said nothing
4. Streams (legit or not, doesn't matter) began popping up online with the feature not in the game
5. Questions were asked in chats and on message boards about the feature
6. The message board posts were locked and/or deleted, the chat questions were ignored
7. Less than 12 hours before the game is released, a singular statement is made on the official message board, and up to this moment, nowhere else.

OK: Here is the story.

Auto-attack option for consoles was added in to the games late in the development cycle after the initial certification build was sent. The auto-attack functionality was sent to be added to the game for testing and approval. This was why staff said it was in game.

Due to an error during mastering, the auto-attack file was omitted during manufacture.

We apologize for this. It was meant to be in game, but it is not currently in the console versions. We are working on how best to distribute this to console users. When we have information, we will let everyone know.

Wow, no auto attack on console, huh :?.  I have to admit Bioware messed up on this one.

Won't affect me much, as I didn't even realize Origins had auto attack till my second playthrough:whistle:

(Yep, I actually pressed the A button to attack, all through my first playthrough)

/facepalm

Still unfortunate for those who wanted the auto-attack option.

Hopefully, it will be addressed, and fixed quickly.

They need to make a public statement... Not that it matters at this point... I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who aren't even going on the internet tonight, who believe it's in the game, only to purchase the game, get it home, and have a big "WTF" moment.

But that was probably the plan anyway... Can't return an open used game after all.
