I like the Templar specialization, because Holy Smite is a great CC ability that can stun and does ridiculous damage to Fade/Mages but I feel like if I poured most of my points into the Reaver and Berserker specialization along with Vanguard I would be a ridiculously powerful Warrior.

I ReSpeced to this at the end of my last playthough and my damage output with Cleave, Blood Frenzy, and Adrenaline stacking over and over it was nuts.

Unfortunately I can't get this tactic to work, it seems that rogues just throw out random Goads while this is running =/
I think you need the longer version to make them Goad properly.

It will. The thing is, that's exactly the point. You want Hawke to have as much threat as possible. Though now that I think about it, you could probably lose the entire 'Ally being attacked by a Melee or Ranged Attack' gambit and just use a 'Hawke: Any --> Goad' gambit with the same result, while also saving yourself 3 tactics slots. That would cause Varric to use Goad anytime it came off of cooldown. That would probably be the most efficient tactic of all, saving about 5 slots altogether.

What is the behavior of  "Jump to tactic slot. . ." though?  I don't interpret that as the same as "Use condition for next tactic" because it's pointless to use your set up if Varric always Goads, regardless if the previous conditions are met.  I believe "Jump to tactic slot. . ." is more useful for skipping down the list when a condition is met, rather than consolidating conditions.  And I should have finished reading the next page. . .

Wrong.  Goad needs to be reserved for when a taunt is required, which is satisfied with Sabre's old method.  Under your tactics, Varric will Goad at the first sight of any enemy and be on cooldown for when they get swarmed since all the other enemies were out of range.  Building threat is easy on the initial pull, since you'll be spell-cleaving but many times you have assassins who slip through or spawn directly behind you.  These are situations where Goad is needed, but under your logic you're SOL.

Also, the reason you can't use 'Ally being attacked' is Hawke is an ally.  Once again the condition would always be met and put Goad on CD.

OK, I changed this one because it's a horrible idea wasting such an amazing talent on what is likely to be the first non-elite mob in view.

Enemy: Target of Hawke | Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Target rank is Elite or higher | Brand

The logic is if Hawke is targeting an elite or boss mob, use brand because the +10% critical strike chance will help destroy it quickly.  The reason for Target of Hawke is because there could always be an elite or boss in the area, but using Brand while it's not being focus-fired is a waste.

I think I read somewhere that the "Jump to tactic..." actions weren't working correctly a little earlier. That could explain why that setup isn't working, if so.

Also, Etched Ring of the Twins isn't at the Black Emporium. It's sold by the Nexus Golem in the Abandoned Thaig on Sundermount.

Logically speaking, these "Jump to..." conditions SHOULD work, unless they function in some mysterious way.

3. Anders: Being attacked by a melee or ranged attack --> Jump to 7
4. Merril: Being attacked by a melee or ranged attack --> Jump to 7
5. Self: Being attacked by a melee or ranged attack --> Jump to 7
6: Self: any --> Jump to 8
7. Hawke: Any --> Goad

Assuming none of the other party members are being attacked (and therefore neither conditions 3,4, or 5 trigger), condition 6 should trigger and totally skip Goad.

However, what happens is that Goad just get thrown out constantly. The only conclusion I can draw is that the Jump to... conditions are in fact totally broken. GG

Either way, with those tactics you're saving a grand total of one slot.  Since Varric is not tactics heavy, I don't see a need for change.

Late-game, Varric does have the Tactics to spare. However, at Level 8 (where I'm at right now), he only has 11 tactics. I took Thrakkemarn's advice and added an extra tactic to skip the 'Hawke: Any --> Goad' slot if no-one is being attacked. I have no more tactics left to make use of any other expansions on his behavior, so even the single saved slot is helping me out. Later on, I may expand it.

Also, what happens if the 'Ally being attacked' doesn't trigger? Does the game ignore the next tactic entirely, or does it use it without the qualifier? Because if it works like I'm thinking, wouldn't Goad be on Cooldown all the time anyway? Even if no-one is being attacked, the next tactic on the list says to use Goad on Hawke, so Varric would use it anyway. You may actually need to do it Thrakkemarn's way in order for it to work the way you want.

Yeah, I don't know why they make the tactic slots scale with your level, as it only hinders creativity. Some pretty poor design choices for sure.

That looks like it could be an improvement on brand, however remember that brand never wears off so its hard to waste it. Im not sure how far the targeting radius is for (enemy highest health) but hopefully its not wasting it on weak enemies.

As for tempest, just like haste I like tempest to be cast right after Ive used cleave + scythe, which is when im at about 75% stamina.

Sabre, not everyone is mathematically inclined. And for those of us that are, you're not mentioning decimals. For example, there's no way to go 60/40 on a single level up; it's 100/0, 66.6/33.3, 33.3/66.6, or 0/100. Even over multiple levels, that still remains true. You don't get the ability to go 60/40 until you've gained 5 levels, which begs the issue of how you distribute your stats over those 5 levels. If you pump 1 stat or the other first, then switch, you end up not being able to equip armor because your stats are too low. If you raise the two stats evenly, you don't get the 60/40 split you specify.

Frankly, your advice on how to distribute stats is about as clear as mud, so I've been boosting Strength and Constitution evenly. I don't get the raw damage output you've probably got, but at least I know I'll be able to equip everything I want to when I get it. I've no interest in doing a spreadsheet to determine what stats should be boosted to where at what time.

The only hard advice you specify is 1 point in Will at 7, 3 points in Will at 8, and 3 points in Strength at 13. There's no other advice, so we have no idea what to do during the other levels, and end up floundering around trying to figure out how the hell you managed it. You don't have to go into detail on every level, but simply spouting the 60/40 ratio isn't helping.

Even split but every 5 levels dump all 3 in Stregth = 60/40 split.
