@ Nphect Your such a troll, you told me that highdragon/Hubris are the hardest fights but a few posts up you flame somebody about Hubris saying "Glad to see you got the info you needed to not be scared of a fight that seems like a joke now. "

I think you fail to see how illogical your first reply about Meredith was,

Nphect wrote...

P.S. Not trying to tell you off, but that fight is probably the easiest Final Act fight of the 3. I could probably make a video if people really wanted to see the fight (Using a no friendly fire mod though)

Thats like saying, Bowser is the easiest fight of super mario I could probably make a video if you wanted to see (assuming i had an infinite star POWer mod)

But alas i'll take your word for it that Meredith is a joke with no proof...just talk

@Sabre: I'd add Runes of Fortune (and design) to the act 1 purchase list. You'd end with more money in the long run.

How much Con should Anders have? What would be the ideal attributes for Anders and Merrill? I added a lot of Willpower for Anders, but he almost never has enough mana fater the first few minutes.

1) I didn't reply to you specifically about hardest fights in Act 3
2) If you honestly think Meredith is hard, after dealing with Rock Wraith, Xebeneckaidnad (the demon you banish for an achievement) and getting through the Nexus Golem room in Act, then you might wanna quit playing this game.
3) No friendly fire mode = less wiping due to your companions running into random ass ****. Please go and find me some port supporting how smart the Ai is.
4) Hubris is a joke once you know how to deal with him. That's the thing. Most people don't know that Hubris himself is easy. And as for my reply to Hubris, read this.

Nphect wrote...
A) Hubris isn't hard. His adds and the fact that he spams the floor with **** is why he's hard.

Next time you get mad at this game, don't get pissed and start flame wars with people who aren't trying to ****** you off.

EDIT: /endrant. If you seriously want help, I can redo the fight without the mod and record it for you. But i'm telling you, she's not hard. Just let Meredith run around and hit you when adds come out as she doesn't really have the killing power to bring you down, especially if Anders's tactics are setup properly. The only part that's remotely hard is when the two Gate Guardians spawn. They actually hit harder than Meredith does and have a ton of AoE potential.

I've been playing a two-hander through Nightmare. This guide is a good source of general information, but I gotta say, I don't see the need for getting Second Wind so early. I've been putting points only in Two-Handed, Vanguard, and Berserker, ignoring Battlemaster entirely. Stamina is rarely a problem on fights with mobs of weak enemies, and stamina draughts are a fine supplement for boss fights. The Ancient Rock Wraith was a cakewalk with only one restart, much easier than my first run with a rogue on Hard. I'd rather put those points into upgrades for the bread-and-butter actives, possibly respecing at 13 for Fervor.

Other than that, very solid guide. Cleave and the Two-Handed tree really are the essentials, you'll do fine regardless of what you get after that. I was pleasantly surprised that defensive talents weren't necessary even on the harder fights thus far. My party setup is similar to the recommendation, Anders with Creation/Vengrance/Primal (for Rock Armor), Merrill with Primal/Arcane, and Varric with a bit of everything. Bethany stepped in for the Deep Roads, party because I'd rather have her healing that Merrill's nukes, and partly because I left her in Kirkwall last time and wanted to see her become a Warden.

Second wind is awesome to get any level means only Varric only need stam potions that if he even runs out per battle. The thing that rattles me and others I assume is the way Companions get in the way of aoes when there is no need to... I always set them on hold purely because of them getting in the way and of course getting one hitted by me. They are always lagging behind me I only let them move freely when I know there is no Assassins or Mages around meaning mostly never.

No Friendly Fire Nightmare Mod:
Friendly fire is a little over the top on nightmare and forces you into
using all ranged companions. My guide is designed with the assumption
that you are playing on nightmare with friendly fire active, however
once you have beaten the game this way it is worth playing a second
playthrough without friendly fire. While friendly fire does add many
strategic elements into battle, such as forcing you to make sure that
you are not reckless with AOE abilities, it also takes away from the
game because it doesnt allow you to use melee teamates and certain
spells/abilities that are fun.

Isabella/Sebastian Friendship Bug Fix: Temporary fix, gives you their rival bonuses for gaining friendship

These mods are available on the social bioware site or dragon age nexus.

I can't find these mods.

Thanks, though I think I'll leave that one for a future playthrough.

I've ran into another Maker's Sight bug, I believe. It works ok, but when I level up, I have both Assault and Perception, even without the prerequisites.

Is there any unofficial fix for Maker's Sighs? I guess I can use a savegame editor, but I'm getting tired of so many bugs, I might take a break from this game and come back when (if) some of them are fixed. Not much hope about that, though.

I used the following against the Bone Pit Dragon on Nightmare to try a SnS Vanguard Reaver:
http://biowarefans.c.../#wzkamIjLA1GIn

Party was Anders (Full Healbot), Merrill (Primal Blood Mage), and Isabela (which required a bit of extra pausing to get her to get out of my way). Went great. Just throwing it out there for SnS enthusiasts.

Anders 21-31 magic  I went 31 magic then stop rest split between con and will works for me 2/1 will to con use mana potions only on Anders Merill does not need them really this is assuming you are not a mage yourself.

Merill Split between con and magic get blood mage weps/ equips gear for her I went 2/1 Magic to con.
This is my preference but you could do 2/1 Con to magic to make her more durable.

Downed High Dragon last night and he was surprisingly easy if you have Dog eat the flame buffets (immune to fire; so OP lol).  About 35% I lost Anders because instead of running where I told him to, he stood and ate a flame buffet, so I had to pop two pots towards the end.  Kind of disappointing fight because, as Sabre already complained, it's very buggy and during the first wave of adds he stayed on his platform for a minute after they were dead.  During which time Dog just sat immuning his fireballs like a champ lol.

So Sabre, are you capturing your vids at 16:10 or 16:9 natively?  I finally sat down to render mine last night, but Vegas isn't playing nice if I try to vertically scale down to 1072 from 1200.  For some reason it wants to pillar box and letter box the output.  I've read Youtube takes 1200 videos now, but the AVC codec I use enforces 1080p as a standard.  I don't mind scaling it, because cropping 128 lines is out of the question.  Any way to work around this?

So far I am level 16 now. I always use Anders and Varic in my party, and am rolling with sebastian instead of merril now. Merril is probably better against large groups, but I think sebastian may be better against bosses. As for templar specialization, it is AMAZING. I can silence assassins so that they cant restealth, I can silence commanders so that they cant stun me, I can dispell mages who barrier themselves.

I Completely agree that the Templar spec is DAMNED GOOD. My only problem is that there is so many enemies that are immune to Silence. All the Demon Type's are immune to it, Revenant Types, Templar Types(including Meredith) Tevinter (Slaver) Types, Qunari Commanders, generic undead captain types(corpses, skeletons, shadow warrior captains) and the Mercanary Captains are immune to it.

there's a thread  referance about all the Enemy non-elemental immunities Here:

Could you post how to split the attributes more specifically for yourself & the party. Only thing I don't like about this guide. Most people don't understand what 60/40 means,or what cun/dex means. Details?

60\\40... 60+40 is = 100 so mean each time you level up you have 3 point this three point is 100. 2 is you 60 and 1 point is your 40. You will put 2 point into you main attribute and one point to other attribute. Easy right.......

So for Anders it'd be 1/1/1 & varric's it'd be 2/1?
What are you doing ?

Most people? How do you know that? It's pretty simple. And it doesn't need to be exactly 60/40 at every level (you can't do that, actually). You should get some basic math classes if you still don't understand it.

Attributes are not A problem as long as you putting some in strength or con... there's no right or wrong way as long as you have above 30 of both you can wear champions set just depends on what you like wearing...

My primary burst is usually Claymore, Cleanse, Holy Smite, Whirlwind, Scythe, then Mighty Blow. Then I use Second Wind for a second round in a minute or so.

for those who still don't know how too calculate 60/40 let's pretend you have 47 str and 28 con and you get a level up with additional 3 points to spend. now take 47+28+3=78, ok so we have total of 78 and now take 78/10=7,8 right?? so take 7,8x6 for str which is 46,8(closer to 47) and 7,8x4 for con which is 31,2 (closer to 31) problem solved.

I just wanted to step in to say that on nightmare, Cleanse removes the effects of the auras your party members had on you.

When you're running with Anders and Merrill, and making good use of the Heroic (Valiant) Aura and Elemental Weapons... Make sure to click off their sustain on the modes so that they will re-activate and re-apply them to your Hawke if you use Cleanse. Also, don't Cleanse during Haste.

If you're getting near the end-game and you don't want to have to run around flailing uselessly or use Haste carefully, then pick up Dispel Magic for either Merrill or Anders (or both) so that they can clear the flames off Pride Demons and such without ruining your buffs on Hawke.
