Cleanse feels more of a nuisance then good for me i don't bother using it in a fight where i need damage. Also That ring for immunity to knockdowns does not do what it says I still get knockdowns wasted my money on it....

Immunity to "Kockbacks" not "Knockdowns". They are two different things.

My favorite build.

beat nightmare twice with it.
(though I can't make my Hawke move like the author. His control is awesome)

So a spider knocking me backward is not a knock back? The item does not work I been knocked even by mages... unless there no enemies that does knock backs meaning a useless item in the game. Sorry for the off topic response just wanted to say that ring does not work for me.

Finally beat the game and I must say I don't know how I'd finish the last fight as anything but a 2H warrior.  They throw so many enemies at you, it's absolutely ridiculous.  BTW, are you supposed to be able to keep hitting the boss during the stun phase?  Lol, I think one of my items actually made me IMMUNE to a boss mechanic.  The boss was  midspeech with my entire party stunned when I killed it.  What a joke.

Oh, and the ending sucks.  Two minutes long; BioWare, I am disappoint.

Just finished the game 2 hours ago or so. was an honor to follow your guide sabre :D

btw sharing with others my ending equipment was: the champion armor set with valiance rune and armor rune inside the warplate and an armor rune inside each helm, gauntlets and boots. that brass amulet with flanking immunity bought in black emporium and both etched twins ring and no wishes ring. as for belt I used the girdle of elders but the belt in emporium for over 100 gold still the best warrior belt even if you r not a rouge (no benefits from +3cun and +3dex) but the 10% resist in both damage and magic is enough. as for weapons definitely blade of mercy with primeval lyrium rune and devestation rune and bloom with 2x frost runes vs bosses. yep can't get better. waiting for an expansion or dlc or whatever. still have to try out berzerker reaver vanguard someday :)

I decided to skip some of the tomes for stat points, because 20-30g for those was just way too much IMO. Instead, I used that money to buy the King's Forgotten Armor, which also has stun immunity so it canceled out having to buy one of the rings as well. Definitely worth the price because of the stats and mitigation. The set bonuses suck hard, so you won't miss them if you get that chestplate instead.

You are the man dude. I'm playing through as a DW rogue [on hard] but you have me already looking forward to doing a nightmare run with a 2H warrior built on your guide. Definitely gonna use this to shape my warrior who I want to be a DPS tank for this playthrough

I just want to say thanks so much for coming up with this build......originally I was going to go the Sword and Shield route, but after reading this, I figured I'd give 2H a try, and it's been frigging awesome so far. I made a few tweaks of my own regarding party tactics, but this build has served me well, especially against that dragon in the deep roads.

They don't have that much life at all.  Focus firing works wonders, and an SnS Warrior does excellent against clusters of them as well.

I use Aveline, and she has a stun immunity skill -- she was the only one able to continually attack during those parts of the fight too. :P

For a run through that makes use of pause, would it be worth trying to get cone of cold on Merrill and archers lance on Varric for the CCC?
Obviously those 2 would be problems with no pausing, but for my run with liberal pausing it seems like they'd be a good combo. Only trouble is it looks like you need a lot of points invested in elemental in order to make cone of cold reliably brittle enemies, and I'm unsure where I'd take those points from.
Worth it? Or too much of a point investment?

DapperDan77:

I've used that combo. It's much harder to set up than Stagger + Chain Lightning, because Cone of Cold requires Merrill to be near melee range, and it's not friendly to allies, and Archer's Lance requires lots of maneuvering to make it stick. Winter's Blast + Archer's Lance is the money combo there. CoC usually goes better with Shattering Arrow, despite the lower damage.

You'll need 7 points to get Elemental Mastery, at which point I'd recommend to just make use of the Fire spells as well, since you're getting them anyway. A nice set of large + fire damage items comes in handy against enemies vulnerable to fire.

The Arishok one on one is very easy to beat using this build if you used the pillars to nit pick him and just aoe him when he does that rush. He did not heal once for me must of timed my silences well I just kept silencing him when I could worked out well. This was one on one I know the group one is a little harder.

Quite honestly, I tried not to cheese him by cleaving through the pillar, but his abilities are such bull**** that they will land on you even if you moved all the way behind him.  That and he can chain knockdown you to death, so to hell with that.  Such a shame too, because the duel could have been pretty epic had it been designed better (and less buggy).

I feel the same way the only way to win is to cheese if you try going head on you will get knocked down all they time or grabbed. It's not through the piller really I could only hit him on the sides where his body was visible.  Yeah he can also hit you miles away from his attacks... meaning theres no hope face to face.

Another thing them Revenant duos are a pain in the butt took me 4 tries to kill them worth it for the weapons though.

Completely random, but Sabre, something seems to be wrong with your build for Anders. Every time I use a Maker's Sigh to respec him, he ends up up with an extra Ability Point. Normally, I'd chalk this up to being a bug associated with Maker's Sigh, but it always happens with him, and not with anyone else.

Also I have found it better using glyphs on mages and rouges as well as clustered mobs my Anders does not use aid allies much unless for bosses so I have more room for using the glyphs more effectively his heals are enough. As long as he is alive he can just resurrect fallen team mates I tend to if Myself, Varric or Merrill die just micro manage him to stay alive long enough to resurrect them or me. The glyphs works very well at keeping rouges and mages at bay for me to kill them.

Those guys can be pulled solo, BTW.  Fighting all three at once is just more effort than it's worth.

Did you bring Anders in to the Fade during Feynriel's quest? He gains Vengeance for free.

Night Terrors isn't available during Act 1, which is when I'm getting the extra point.

I got the corpes alone just them two did not want to be pulled it involved a great deal of micro manageing for me had to ensure Anders did not fall nor did my Warrior. If you try running up the mountain there more enemies up there and if you run back down they both kept following me. Guess I was just unlucky they both decided to come for me all the time.

Man what a build, adding my props to this thread. My first playthrough was a 2h war, found this guide around the end of act 2 and respecced with maker's sigh (only hawke, didn't bother with companion respecs) and just completely destroyed everything without even tweaking companion tactics really (hard mode so no worries about gibbing companions).

For anyone having trouble figuring out the 60/40 ratio... lol. Now that's out of the way, 60/40 boils down to 3/2. So for every 3 points in strength add 2 in con. "BUT I ONLY GET 3 POINTS PER LEVEL (herp derp)!!!!1!!1!", I hear you saying. It really doesn't break the world to not have every level up spelled out for you, but if you really need it every 5 levels should have 9 points in str and 6 in con (4 level ups of 2/1 str/con and 1 of 1/2 str/con). If you are still lost, god help you.
