For armor at least, I would assume you'd want the Warrior Champion Armor Set in Act 3, and the Armor of the Fallen Armor Set in Act 1 and part of Act 2. As for the weapon, there's a nice website that lets you know some nice weapons you can find here: http://segmentnext.c...location-guide/

Awesome link! I have all but the chest piece for the Armor of the Fallen. Now I know that I can buy the final piece, sweet! Also all of those weapons in Act 1 are no better then the razor so no big deal, I'm JUST about to enter the Deep Roads, hoping for some awesome weapons in there.

One thing though: you might want to take a look at some of your builds again. Some of your planned abilities don't meet the prerequisite requirements now. For example, you have Anders getting Arcane Fortress (which requires 4 points in Arcane) right after Barrier, but he only has 2 points in Arcane at that point. You also have Merrill getting Galvanism without getting Tempest. There might be some others, but those were the ones I remember noticing.

Actually, you're in more luck since the chestpiece for the armor of the fallen is IN the Deep Roads. Just have to kill a dragon for it.

Would it work for other specializations as well? I really dislike Templars!

Yay, thanks for the guide. I only play 2 handers and always in NM (or whatever the hardest diff is called in many other games). Just started my first run in DA 2 (just entered Kirkwall).

You could try it with Berserker, but to be honest, the stamina drain from hitting enemies with Berserk on is annoying. Templar works really well because it gives you more abilities to attack with (wihout draining tons of stamina) and also gives you more survivability against mages.

If cross class combo chances lasted longer, it might work, but the chances just aren't lasting long enough to work, having just 1-2 seconds to take advantage of something just isn't viable in my eyes.
Good on you for finding something that works for you guys, but for me, it just doesn't work.

I tried it some more, but i don't see how your companions survive in your videos as long as they do, since mine are practicually one-shotted by everything, are you sure you ain't using a mod or something, cause i just can't see this working on Nightmare.....hard, maybe, if you are EXTREMELY lucky, but on Nightmare, i just don't see it as working.

I'm pretty sure he is using tactic A.I for cross class combos.

So far I am level 16 now. I always use Anders and Varic in my party, and am rolling with sebastian instead of merril now. Merril is probably better against large groups, but I think sebastian may be better against bosses. As for templar specialization, it is AMAZING. I can silence assassins so that they cant restealth, I can silence commanders so that they cant stun me, I can dispell mages who barrier themselves.
Yea Merrill is not cutting it for some reason, I've actually tried using Sebastian too and he is just as good as Varric if not better. Might make Sebastian into a pure damage dealer.

OP, great guide with lots of good insight.
Can you explain the logic behind merril's tactics in this segment:
Enemy > staggered then go to next tactic
Enemy > rank elite or above then use crushing prison
Enemy > disoriented then use stonefist
Enemy > staggered then use chain lightning
What does the first line achieve? How is it different from this:
Enemy > staggered then use chain lightning
Enemy > rank elite or above then use crushing prison
Enemy > disoriented then use stonefist
You always want to chain reaction cast right after you stagger your targets, so it should be her top priority tactic?
I actually don't know the logic behind "go to next tactic" command.. does it skip the following tactics and jump across one? or?
Would appreciate clarification from somebody in the know

Edit: More damage, plus a 100% paralyze vs. staggered. Much better against that gigant smashing your head like a nail.

Another question: has anybody been able to *effectively* use Isabella as a party member (referring to Hawke = vanguard). My idea was to use her to protect Anders/Merill when they get swarmed, so that she would stay out of my melee range in most situations. I've tried various tactics to accomplish that, but she still tends to appear in wrong places at the wrong times and gets killed by my aoe.

Would you recommend me using these tactics/builds for my own party members?
I'm planning on using Varric,Anders & Aveline. You guys think a tank/2 ranged DPS/& healer is the way to go for a DW Rogue?

The maximum aggression vanguard does so much damage that even on Nightmare, enemies just explode in a shower of blood before they can kill the tank. Playing with this tank build on Nightmare is *easier* than playing with Aveline as my tank on Hard. It's almost too easy. I took down the ogre in the Ironbark quest in like 15 seconds, and it easily took several minutes on Hard difficulty with Aveline tanking.
