Post your PC specs?

No need.. it's in my sig.. and yes.. I have the NEWEST nvidia drivers.

Dude, something has to be up with your PC. There is no way you can have that much slow down with a rig like that.

Yea I know.. that's why I'm kind of shocked. I'll clean and remove my drivers and re install them and see if that helps any

Yes there is, ultra crappy optimisation even despite the crappy graphics. So far nobody has reported that DX11 runs fine

I played the demo using DX11 and max settings, it all ran fine. Can't say for retail as i have to wait until Thursday/Friday but in the demo it was smooth as.

Using an ATI 5850.

My PC ran the demo better than that, with high-quality blur and diffuse DoF toggled via the .ini. I have an HD5770. Something's wacky there.

Same. I had everything maxed that the demo allowed and managed a near constant 60fps throughout the demo on my HD5870 OC'd. This was using DX11 setting even though it was recommended to not use it.

Maybe try disabling SLI, SLI can actually decrease performance in some games with poor driver support.

Hey Bear, did you have the high-res texture pack with DX11?

Be sure to patch your game.

I had the same issue with the Demo. It runs at 11 fps with DirectX and Very High Graphics. I just have to lower it to High and it turns into 70+fps. It is not an issue with virus, or computer being badly setup. The demo just doesn't work properly, at least for my computer.

I am also using a GTX 580, maybe the issue is mainly for GTX 580 cards.

Haven't got the full version yet (overnight shipping), so not sure if the full version will have the same problem.

[Edit]
Forgot to mention that Very High was set in Configuration Tools (it is only locked in game).

When I switched to High I also maxed AA, Antriopic, and turned on Occlusion. It was still running at 70+ fps is.

Yup. I guess I should have been clearer. I was using the DX11 renderer and running at high settings (since very high was locked). But I had the other locked options on via .ini, 16x AF, 8x AA, with no noticable stuttering or lag at all. I think this is definitely an issue with the OP's PC. :police:

Also remember that both Nvidia and ATI are releasing driver updates soon that are supposed to specifically address DA2. I think the beta for Nvidia is already out.

Why the hell would you have PhysX on CPU? That wouldn't work. And Dragon Age 2 isn't a PhysX game.

someone suggested I tried it.. I just put it back to the gpu.. has no effect... if a game doesn't use much of the CPU, you'd want physx on your cpu as that would free up the gpu to do other things ;)

It makes you wonder with all the people already playing the game. I wonder if some of those having issues with it are using the pirated verizon of it. Because we know in the United States even if you have game in your hand and install it you can't actually "Play" it untill Bioware tells the game it's past the release date.

DirectX11 should be easy to configure with Dragon Age. I'm not sure what the problem is on your end

Wrong there is a post on the first page stating an increase of performance of 50% from the demo, in the full version. I'll have link here in a sec. He is running DX11 just fine.

I can pretty much confirm that the game is basically unplayable with everything turned on on DX11 rendered, meaning Very High details, diffusion depth of field, ambient occlusion and 8x AA, 16x AF, 1920x1080 resolution, vsync off (and just to be clear, I'm talking about the retail version, NOT the demo) with the high quality texture pack installed.

Specs :

i7 920 o/ced @ 3.5 Ghz
MSI GTX 570 (single card)
6 GB RAM @ 1600 Mhz Tri Channel
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (fresh install) with 264.24 Nvidia drivers.

I'm currently running around in Kirkwall trying out different settings, in order to find something that will work optimally work for me. Here's my observations :

Anti aliasing plays a HUGE role in terms of fps. Even 2x can have a significant performance hit on your gameplay. AF doesn't seem to affect fps much. Other than that, going from High graphics detail, to very high also incurs a serious performance penalty. Ambient occlusion had as much as a 50 fps hit ! (jesus). Right now, I've settled for high details and no AA, until either Bioware improves performance via a patch, or the new drivers (tomorrow ?) help to alleviate the issues.

Edit : Settled for DX11, High, ambient ocllusion on, 16xAF, No AA and high quality textures. This brings me around 60 fps according to Fraps. With very high, this goes to 30 and I don't feel really comfortable.

Actually ANYONE in the US can play it now if they

1) use the EADM
2) use flyvpn and buy a chinese vpn
3) set your computer time zone to beijing, china
4) fire up the vpn
5) the EADM will unlock and you can play
6) you can terminate the vpn once the game loads, but must use it each time the game starts till the official release date passes
