I'm guessing it's because he's just using the presets and not editting other things. So just as Hawke is in preset #1, so will the Hawke family all be in preset #1 mode. I imagine if you made further tweaks on the preset, the family would reflect the preset but incorperate the changes to Hawke.

Does that make sense?

So probably, this *MIGHT* (and I repeat, might) not depends on the preset all along but rather on your hairstyle that will affect your family's hairstyle (because their face is going to be the same anyway)

I would assume now the only thing affecting your family members from your CC choices are hairstyle and skin tones.

Someone please make a diagram for every hair... I'm just too tired right now...

So it's basically a crap-shoot as to what family you'll get? That's the first 'real' "it sucks" news about DAII I've heard.

Thank you too for reading.  It's not tired as long as there's someone find this thread useful and apparently it does! Hahahah. Thank you again. 

Ok, don't panic yet people. I'm sure there's a formula to get the companion looks we all want.

Yes, you've got it right.  The only question now is what hairstyle in CC corresponds to your family's hairstyle.
If I remember correctly, so far, I think there are 6 different sets of hairstyle for your family.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

For example if male preset #2 had been white, would Carver still have 'locks' ?
I take it it's not possible to quicksave until you reach the CC so you have to go through the prelude everytime ?

Hmmmm, personally, I don't think skin color will affect your companion's hairstyle.  I'd be glad to further investigate on that though. I'm working right now so I guess you'll have to wait for a while. 

PS. Yes, I have to go through the prelude everytime. It's getting bothersome. Hahahaha

I bet, removing the prelude will be the second thing modded. The first of course being a female nude mod.

And what I meant by crap-shoot is, so you're basically stuck with certain family hairstyles depending on what hair you choose. I can imagine the PC clones already, just to get a nice looking family. Or a nice looking PC and family be damned!

Woah~ this has way more options than the one in the demo. I love it. The default faces for Lady Hawke are all really different here. The skins are looking so much better too. Awesome. I'm happy the Hawke family has more preset variations than that on the demo.

Can't wait to play~!!!

I was up late reading the forums and trying to avoid spoilery threads because I couldn't contemplate sleep while so many people already have the game and we poor UK residents are suffering! This is my favourite thread though. Might have to look at some custom Hawkes in that thread now...

So i create a drop dead gorgeous femhawke only to start the game and end up with both bethany and the mommahawke with bowl cuts.....damn you bioware....DAMN YOU!!!

To avoid this hair atrocity: it was the asian preset model (modified heavily use'n bethany's default hairstyle & the lightest of the dark skin tones, this axis of hair evil is an abomination! avoid at all costs!!

Change your Hawke to one of the others then go to the Emporium to change back to the default. Of course, I'd rather like what the Ogre did to him when playing a rogue or warrior. Good riddance to Carver and his emo-girly-man-crybaby-spoiled brat ways

Interesting, I tinkered a bit with the presets, I think it's indeed based on the skin colour you choose for Hawke. Faces included.
And why is it interesting?
Using darker skin colour preset and setting the color to causcasian, I've got asian skin color and facial structure for Bethany.

It didn't for me.  I went with Default Hawke up until the BE, then switched to my current avatar (is preset #4) and Bethany remained Bethany #1.

Okay, so... I've been going through all of the Lady Hawke presets, trying to find a way to get a Bethany with the hairdo found in this picture:



I don't think I missed a preset, but that hair hasn't turned up at all. Do I have to pick a specific hairdo for my Hawke, or what? Does anyone know what the requirements are?


EDIT:

Oh, nevermind. Got it. Male preset #7 (in the pic) has the 7th hairdo from the right, so I just picked the 7th from the right for Lady Hawke as well.
