Thanks Ritalove!
Now we're only missing the male ones, right? Or could one apply that to the male presets in any way?

So, does this apply to female presets as well? My question is which female preset allows you to keep the original Bethany?

Take a look at ONE post before mine... Last post page 4. That's why I was asking for the same "guide" for male presets.

I think that the first page shows male presets.-> http://social.biowar...index/6398685/1

And if I'm not mistaken, the first preset of each (male and female) allows you to have the default Bethany. Or you could download a mod that allows you to modify the default hawke -> Chargen revamp
I hope it helped ^_^

I used the female presets #2 & #3- they both translated into family #3 when I played lol. I never got #2.

From what I've learned alot of the hair changes are effected by the choice of Skin Tone.

I found that no matter the preset, using skin tones from the 2nd and farthest to the right instantly make for preset 9 family members (the darkest skin, short bethany hair and long carver hair)

DUDE!  Thanks so much!  Been looking for this since starting my 2nd playthrough.  I got lucky with how I got Bethany my first time through (Preset 8 looks really great).  Wondering if I want to try to keep that style because I kind of got attached to the look, now I can make up my mind.  :D

I know it may feel rather irritating that the changes depending on your looks but I think that is a good thing. That way when you and your family look alike rather than Hawke looking like he is adopted, which he isn't.

Yes, he changes as well. I've been playing around with the different builds for Hawke, and when I entered Kirkwall, he was visually different.

See, now I'm really confused because I used this preset and got the default family.  However, I did entirely change it around.  Maybe skin tone affects it?  Or perhaps my CC was just glitched?

First off, thanks to the OP for putting all this together.  I've been doing some testing of my own and it's a royal pain in the you know what to do it b/c of always playing the opening fight.  Thanks for what you've done and are doing.

Now, I've done some testing of the PC setup and family resemblance and I believe I've discoverd something important. It seems skin tone is what really affects your family resemblance.  Now I haven't changed every slider, but I've changed most of them and the short version is you can have whatever hair, facial hair, stubble, eyes, etc. you want and keep the same family member's that are displayed in the preset's the OP has kindly put up for all of us.  But the minute you change skin tone everyone's hair changes.

The tests that have been done with posted pictures of family changing hairsyles all have different PC hair, but they also all have different PC skin tone.  If you want the family characters displayed in the Presets the OP has you can change anything but skin tone (possible exception: I haven't tested the other sliders in the "skin" section, just tone, but tone definetly makes the difference).

Thanks again to the OP and everyone else who has posted pictures and done work to figure out how this family resemblence thing works.

Edit: I've noticed you can change the skin tone however you want with the mirror of transfiguration if you have The Black Emporium DLC, though.  Changing it in the initial character creation seems to change far more about your character than just the tone, but if you change it with the mirror then you can change your skin tone without affecting your family.  Their tone and features don't seem to change.

It all makes sense now.

Even if it might be just a trifle racist.

It seemed to me that they were tied to skin-tone. The pale three, the golden three, the brown three, and the dark three, in the order. Whichever of the sects Hawke's skintone was would effect the family's. I noticed that when Hawke was in the 'dark' set, Carver always had dark-reddish skin with the 'dreadlocks', and Bethany always had... that... bowl... thing.

Does anyone know if you can give Carver the cornrows with a brown-skinned hawke? I can't stand dreads...

Anyway to make a dark skinned family with different hair?
Bethany always seems to have the cropped hair once my Hawke's skin tone is dark

Female preset three produces dark-skinned Bethany with longer hair and a fringe (not a great look though).
Male preset eight produces a darkish-skinned Bethany with long wavy hair. You'd probably have to start off with light brown skin to get that one, and then switch Hawke's darker in the Mirror later.

For people still wondering this, there appear to be something like TWENTY for each:

Choosing a preset will influence basic face shape, one of ~five rows. Changing the SKIN tone will then affect family to choose one of FOUR with that selected row. Carver and Bethany appear to have overlaps as to where the change; possibly each skin tone has it's own preset settings but groups of them refer to the same presets of Carver and/or Bethany.
Mother and Uncle change much less than siblings, it seems.

So unfortunately it's a little bit more complicated than just this-preset/skin-to-this - someone needs to make a table.

I have been struggling with this quite a bit, I seem to randomly get Bethany and Carver that I like the look of, and only when I'm playing the wrong class to keep them. There is a Carver with the darkest skin tone and short hair who looks Persian that I've only gotten once and only by modding a female preset. Sadly, I was a warrior. When I tried to get that same Carver as a mage he kept coming out with dreadlocks no matter what I did. I've also once gotten a Carver with fair skin and the side-parted hair that is longer in back, but when I tried to get that look on a mage playthrough he keeps coming through as the default Carver just with different colored eyes.

Bethany is always either the default Bethany with slightly darker skin and different colored eyes, or she's the hideous Bethany with the bowl-cut. I can't ever get the sexy Asian Bethany unless I play a mage and can't figure out what sliders are getting her.

The wiki suggests that there are nine possible sibling options, three facial shapes and three skin tones, each with a different hairstyle, but from looking at the pics here as well as what I've seen in my attempts, I think it's probably more. I've also seen where they have the same face/hair but different colored eyes.
