OK: Here is the story.

Auto-attack option for consoles was added in to the games late in the development cycle after the initial certification build was sent. The auto-attack functionality was sent to be added to the game for testing and approval. This was why staff said it was in game.

Due to an error during mastering, the auto-attack file was omitted during manufacture.

We apologize for this. It was meant to be in game, but it is not currently in the console versions. We are working on how best to distribute this to console users. When we have information, we will let everyone know.

Ah, about auto-attack, no it's not in the console versions. However, they are looking to patch it in.

Another encouraging review, especially about Kirkwall.

I don't know if I can trust this review tbph. Either the reviewer is flat out making things up (re: auto attack) or they were given a different version of the game to the one that 360 owners will be getting on release. How can I be sure it doesn't extend to other aspects of the game?

Anyway, whatever the rating, it will prevent anyone buy the game tomorrow or in several days. So, these reviews are not really useful or interesting.

Even if you saw high or low notes, it would not likely change our view that is already shaped.

The reviewer is lying, if you want to call it that. I've seen multiple reviewers take the dev's word on certain features: "This bug has already been fixed in the retail version!" and then apologize for it later.

In all likelyhood this will probably be one of Bioware's weaker titles. It definitely won't be the exceptional effort ME2 was, for sure.

Having seen a good bit of the final game, I know. ME2's conversations are still much more cinematic and the cutscene animation is dodgey and robotic at best. Camera movement is minimal, too. Characters stand with their arms at their sides with mostly the same expression. The facial animation in particular is just really lazy, even worse than in Origins. The worst part is that even the critical plot scenes suffer this.

Gameplay is better, but even then there are kinks. You can't cut out of many animations and shuffle is definitely still there.

A lot of the game just reeks of design shortcuts like a collassal amount of copy-paste cave quests as well.

Reviewers who don't check their facts are useless.

I am eagerly awaiting Zero punctiation's review.

Why? He could rant about re-runs of Law and Order and be just as entertaining. He doesn't actually review games.

edited: LOL who could have guess Sylvious likes Yahtzee, who in general hates everything with very few exceptions.

He doesn't hate everything. In fact, in fact, in one of his early reviews (Bioshock, I i recall correctly), he said no one likes him when he's nice (after giving a good review of Pcyconauts). So, even if he thinks the game is great, don't expect him to highlight the upsides.

His reviews are mainly about the criticisms, which he does very well.

Yahtzee is a Ultima/Baldur's Gate homer so obviously he's gonna give DA2 a good review.

Maybe they already have a patch, which the reviewer used?

I'd think it'll end up similar to his DA:O review... (link down there)

lol Wow guys, what up with all the haters?
You actually played the full game?
'Cause maybe I'm missing something, but it's not 8th already!
Give it a play, then say your say, and then ARGUMENT, you can't just say it sucks because you say so.

It IS interesting don't you think, that a reviewer took time, out of a very short review, to talk about Auto Attack. Specifically, he said that it exists, when we now know that it does not. Where did he get the idea that it was there, if it is not actually present in the game? Where do the clues lead you?

We don't have a patch yet.  See Chris Priestly's post, which I quoted at the top of this page . . .they're "looking into it".

That the review copies have it and the retail ones don't.

Maybe he just heard it was in the game (because the devs said so), because in the review it sounds like he never used it himself.

Which makes the reviewer useless.

He;s rating the game based on features, without checking to see what features it actually has?

The auto attack is only out of the console verison due to manufacturing error so it's likely the reviewer copy was made seperately.

This isn't Kane and Lynch people you shouldn't be so quick to insult the honor of Game Reviewers and Game Developers.

The clues lead me to

a) He either had a copy of the game that had auto-attack in or
B) He never used auto-attack, never wanted to, but heard or read that it was in the game or
c) It's a vast conspiracy to make sure DA II is propped up as a great game on multiple fronts, Escapist just being one of them.

Sherlock Holmes said that once you eliminate the impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth. He didn't say THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE!

lol, This review is paid off. I already have a preconceived notion of the game before playing that this reviewer's opinion didn't match.

Nice to see that it's nice. Hopefully it'll mirror my own opinion, since I'm buying it and all.
