Hello all, first time post blah blah blah.

Anyway, I'm looking to change around the number of attribute points gained each level. I'm entirely new to this sort of thing (the farthest I might have gotten was creating a small area in NWN 2 and some dialog trees), and I'm not even sure if this requires the toolset.

I contacted weriKK about this earlier this morning, and he suggested I check out CLA_base.xls and modify that. Though I am uncertain as to how to go about finding that file, and then changing it. I didn't want to bother him further, so I thought I would bring this here. I want to change it from 3 to possibly 6 points per level, if it helps.

Do I need the toolset for this? I downloaded it anyway, though can't get it to open (won't connect to database). I tried following some of the steps the wiki suggested (making sure that SQL had the DA stuff enabled and running as an administrater on Vista) though it didn't help. Neither did a reboot.

Any help would be appreciated. ;)

You can find CLA_Base.xls here: "DAO_INSTALLDIRECTORY\\tools\\Source\\2DA\\rules"

There you will see the top four rows have the three core classes listed and the columns point at different properties. Here you can see how often how many abilities/skills/various passive bonuses the classes receive.

If I see it correctly, attributes are not listed here. It might be possible that the 3 attribute points per level are hardcoded into the game or applied through the scripts that deal with the level up process, unfortunately I can not check this right now :/

For more information about how to actually modify and create your own 2da file, check http://social.biowar...t/index.php/2DA .

And yes, you will need the toolset for this.

Hi.

I'm also interested in this matter. Just looked up in the file but seems nothing about attribute points on level-up. Can anybody help on this subject. Could it be that the chargen script (character generation) is also responsible for the mechanics on level-up. I just feel that I'm overstretching my rudimentary programming skills too much.
