I really think that by the time Anders flees the Amaranthine Wardens, the Warden-Commander is already missing. There's just no way my Warden would have betrayed the trust of
any of the "apostates" under her command by allowing a Templar to join their ranks with the explicit purpose of "watching" them. It undermines everything the Wardens stand for - namely their autonomy and brotherhood.
I want to slap whatever Commander took over the Amaranthine Wardens that decided a cat had no place amongst them. D: Wardens get condemned to either an early, brutal death by darkspawn or a wasting disease that slowly turns them into the monsters they spend what's left of their lives fighting - and you're going to deprive them of things that bring in a little happiness? Nuh-uh.

Hey, that was my exact team this time around (though Anders was not the love interest). I was an archer as well!
WOOTNESS! Hot

!! I miraculously managed to avoid romancing Anders as my rogue - ended up bedding Izzy in a fit of passion because she's irresistible, and eventually settled on Fenris. THE WILLPOWER IT TOOK TO AVOID ANDERS IS STAGGERING but he's still her bff.

I think that Anders took Justice in in the first place because he had already experienced character growth and wasn't exactly like Awakenings!Anders. Justice convinced him to take up the cause for other mages and don't see that as a problem. I DO think he's lesser for what that led him to do in letting Justice possess him.
Ah, a fair point, actually. I'm just firmly on the all-or-nothing side of the playing field, and believe that if it wasn't him, if it wasn't now, it would be someone else and the circumstances might have been even worse. All in all I'm glad it was Anders, who can and does feel guilty over what he does, rather than one of the bloodmages or other abominations running amok.
