That comic doesn't work for me, because he seemed cutely charmed by the offer. That "Hmmm, maybe I'm closer to the dream than I realize" was obviously deflection, but not of the "never gonna happen, chica" variety. More of the "I think you're just trying to make me feel better, and I appreciate it" type.

This.

If anything, instead of feeling bad about Anders not being interested, I usually felt like he was really interested but didn't go for it because he didn't believe the Warden was serious. I'm sure it makes less sense for single Wardens, but all my Wardens were spoken for. I felt especially mean flirting as my canon Cousland married to Alistair. Anders knew they were married, so he knew the only person flirting with him at the time wasn't actually flirting in earnest. Thus poor Anders was all, FOREVER ALONE in my games.

Mm, I got that kind of vibe also. But I suppose it could depend on how you view his relationship with your Warden as well.

Re: the sexuality thing. I personally tend to think that people are at least open to anyone until proven otherwise, so it I'm probably biased in this regard. But, nothing that Anders told us about life in the Circle, particularly the 'everyone was kissing everyone' comment, did anything to disuade me from the above assumption. That, and there's also the fact that, I would imagine anyway, in a society that does not regard ******/bi/pansexuality as anything negative, people would be much more open about their preferences, or at least unashamed.
Sexuality is a spectrum, and I defy anyone to find a sex positive straight person who wouldn't 'go gay' for someone. /two penneth

Lol, I miss the Nathaniel/Oghren banter. Nobody could flirt like those two.

I felt like the bi scheme was forced in DA II. I would much prefer them to write it into a character rather than to just flip the bisexual switch on everyone. Your character should be able to hit on anyone of course, but it shouldn't lead anywhere on a non bi- or ******- sexually written character. That's just me though. I feel like the some companions should be straight/gay/bi whatever instead of making them all one of the options.

I think part of the decision was to please everybody, but if you think about it, Merrill and Fenris are the only ones with malleable sexuality. They're not bi in a sense that they both openly disclose their attractions to men and women. Isabela's bisexuality is a part of her identity and Anders' bisexuality exists in either male or female Hawke's playthroughs. It's fine if some people believe Anders hops borders in one game, but doesn't in the next. However, that's not the case. His relationship with Karl never changes; they were lovers regardless. He only fails to mention the extent to which their relationship transcended for a female Hawke. It's not like he completely disavows it and pretends it never happened. Like Anders says, Karl was his "first" lover. The first guy he ever had genuine feelings for and most likely the first guy he lost his virginity to. After their relationship ended, he became the person he was in Awakening; chasing after women and sleeping with them (men included). His interactions with Nathaniel were also quite flirty in nature. I got the sense that he was attracted to him, but whether it was requited remains to be seen. From the way they behaved towards each other in DA2, I'd guess that their relationship is at least amicable. They smile at and playfully tease each other.

I never got the feeling that a 'switch' was being flipped.  I just felt like the LI's had a genuine interest in Hawke that could develop into a full-blown romance, if pursued, and that's kind of the way I like it.  Equal opportunity and choice for everyone.

Plus, let's not forget the overwhelming number of people who were sad!facing prior to DA2 because there was 'so much evidence' that Anders was straight in Awakening (I still say he flirted with Nate ) and that their man!Hawke's were going to be single FOREVER because Fenris just did not flip their happy switches.

I'm lucky in the sense that I dig all of the romances, and there's honestly nothing I dislike about the Fenris romance.  I just like the Anders romance more, so if I had to choose between the two, I would probably pick Anderes 99.9% of the time.

I would have been srsly depressed if his romance was 'straight only', just like I'm sure there are Fenris fans who would have been depressed if he was 'straight only'.

There's really no 'win-win' way to implement the romances, but I'm glad they were done in a way that let me choose who my favorite was rather than it being a forced decision brought about by gender restrictions.

Perfectl said. I quote every word.

Well, good, because neither do I.
I'm a big soft sissy and would be trying to crawl away after the first punch/slap/whatever.
While sobbing like I just got hit with a Mack truck.

I just pretend to be totally bulletproof, that way if someone does want to fight me, maybe I can scare them away before they feel inclined to sock me in the jaw and therefore put me on bed rest for the next six months.

This, this, this so much. I've always viewed sexuality as part of a spectrum myself and I would have pegged Anders somewhere on the 2/3 on the Kinsey scale if people are nerdish enough to believe in it.

Ahh, I haven't heard this before! I love the 'Oh you're no fun!' at the end. :)
I wish this quest would trigger on my playthroughs. Nate is alive goddamnit! And I really came to like him in Awakening. *sniffle*

Ah, see I don't really like the Kinsey scale as I'm 'X', or 'Null'  on that scale, which irks me. It's a bit limiting in that regard. I prefer the x/y graphs people use (where x is orientation, and y is amount of interest/libido).
I suppose if you're going with Anders being bi then I'd put him as 3 on there. But personally I'm of the opinion that he's pansexual, because he comments (I think with male Hawke only) that it's really the person he's interested in and not the body they happen to inhabit.

My Anders and Nate barely talk to each other in DA2 (so no banter). I think my game is messed up anyway since I'm missing in-mansion dialogue in all my playthroughs. The dialogue doesn't cycle at all and the playthroughs with Anders as a live-in has him talking about wanting to get a nicer place.

Size doesn't matter.
Varric is a very good example of that.

Hmm, that's odd.
I've had virtually no bugs on mine, except for the Nate quest not triggering, that broken quest in Act 3 on the wounded coast, and a couple of banters being wonky. Maybe I've just been lucky so far?
That's sold it for me though, I'm going to research how to use the console and mod the game. Eep, the only game I've ever modded has been the Sims, and that really doesn't count. Wish me luck!

Nope. That was just an aesthetic matter - specifically among the artists of the Renaissance and Neoclassicism.
