In realtion- can Anders actually be made Tranquil? I know it's come up before, but I was just thinking that since he momentarily 'fixed' Karl when he went Justice mode, does that make him immune? Or would It just kill him?

well seeing as you have to kill him in the fade which is when justice comes out to play, i don't think it's possible.

Bethany's death is sadder to me, because Bethany is so...innocent. Not in a creepy, pure way, but in a genuinely good and just wanting to be normal way. She's definitely a victim, whereas with Anders the line is blurred. He chose to accept Justice into him, and he has blood on his hands. As much as it would break me to see it done, it would be...less unjust.

Still horrible! But slightly less horrible than someone like Bethany getting lyrium-sworded through the stomach while her sibling watches on like it doesn't matter at all. IMO.

Again, that's yet to be seen. Whether he lives or dies, he can easily be built up as a martyr or a revolutionary figure either through his own doing or by someone else who wants to use him as such.

What he actually did isn't as relevant as what the legends will say he did, which will doubtlessly be exaggerated.

Except from what we see in game the legends focus on Hawke.  Hawke the savior vs Hawke the oppresor. Hawke's name is the rallying cry, Hawke is who they're looking for, Hawke is the one who can get everyone to chillax. 

Sorry Anders. No one cares about you.  

Does help that Hawke does play the dragon to either Meredith or Orsino. And since they go bonkers he's leader by default.

I suspect Anders will be like the guy who shot Archduke Ferdinand and his wife.  Everyone knows someone did it and the consequences of the action but I doubt 95% of people can name him off the top of his or her head.

This is also what I suspect as well.  Orsino and Meredith and Elthina will be remembered.  And Hawke.

Anders?  Not so much.

I think that all people will remember is that some crazy mage blew up a Chantry adn started it all. Whether or not they remember the name depends on the story being told, I guess.

My Hawke would totally start spreading stories about the slighty crazy but righteous Anders, who blew up a Chanrty for the freedom of magekind. Because she likes to put Anders in the spotlight.

Well, to be fair, he is on the title page  of the book Cassandra gives Varric.  Which was a cool little cast picture by the way. 

I can honestly see Anders sort of being a Che'.  A counter culture figure who is hated by the mainstream and people put him on the Thedas equivalent of tee shirts without a hint of irony.  lol

Ah, I don't have a sister, but the relationship between my brother and I is a lot like the one between Hawke and Carver. It's uncanny. Except he never becomes a templar or a Grey Warden, and I am not a mage, much to my disappointment. But we do get a long much better now that we're older and we don't live under the same roof.

Carver acts like my siblings and I did when we were all pre-teens to early teens. Bethany acts more like we all did when we grew up. So Bethany reminds me of the lovely sibling relationship I have now, while Carver is way too childish for his age (or at least, he feels that way due to my own experience).

So I don't really dislike Carver, but Bethany feels more like family to me now.

yeah, as mad as i was that he joined the mage opression Templars, i was kind of proud of him for atlest doing something on his own instead of just whining about it. Stupid little brothers :/

I know, she's so so... innocent is the best word I guess.  She's the kind of person where even if you don't necessarily like her.  Doing something horrible to her is equally out of the question.

I thought the saddest part was that she just accepted it.  It's like she doesn't even want to live anymore.  And then Meredith sticks that damned lyrium sword through her and Hawke just stands there like he is watching a blood mage die.  WTF?

I can't tell you how many times I go from "YAY FUTURAMA IS ON!" to "OH **** CHANGE IT NOW" because I realize it's Jurassic Bark, and I start tearing up immediately.

I had to leave my kitty at home to go to college, and that episode brings out the guiltguiltguilt I still feel about it. ****.

Ah, my canon is a rogue, and she's all about protecting her sister, so when she takes her into the Deep Roads she gets wardened. Which then makes her go 'Must protect Anders. He saved my sister and is an apostate too.', which of course leads on to DIE TEMPLARS DIE! and wanting to help with the Chantry jenga. Hmm, yeah, she goes a little nuts.

I haven't templared Carver yet. I like playing girls with big damn swords too much if I have the choice.

I was thinking as I was coming back from lunch.

That it must really suck being a female Saarebas, especially if you had a male Arvaraad.

And then I thought. Wait, we haven't even SEEN female Qunari yet.

Assuming Qunari even have "primal urges" there must be a lot of man on man. Sort of like the Greeks, where it was just commonplace, especially during wartime.

Arvaraad and his discipline stick. *cough*

I know this has nothing to do with Anders. But it could. If someone wanted to Saarebas collar Anders. *cough* Oh god.

Edit: Ginnis sort of hinted at it with Saemus and Ashad, but I think she was just mocking him.

I actually think I've only seen it once. I scarred me and gave me anxieties at a late age in life. I just have a thing about dogs in films in general - nothing gets me like dogs dying or being hurt or aboundoned in any way. Marley and Me just made me want to jump off something, or when I saw there was a dog in I am Legend I was like ohhh nooo i know where this is going. Also I like to torture myself with that husky film - Eight Below or something? It's not even THAT sad but it's just like - making me weep like a demented little crazy person. 

So yeah, tranquil Anders, Anders being hurt, Anders being killed = slaughtering puppies.

And I think what makes it sadder is that Bethany doesn't have anyone and she is not a blood mage at all, in the face of the worst betrayal ever.   Even when she's knows that's an option for her she remains herself till the end.  I could never do that in a playthrough even if I were templar to the max.

She is truly, truly innocent which makes her death seem like murder and not random killing.
