I actually think I've only seen it once. I scarred me and gave me anxieties at a late age in life. I just have a thing about dogs in films in general - nothing gets me like dogs dying or being hurt or aboundoned in any way. Marley and Me just made me want to jump off something, or when I saw there was a dog in I am Legend I was like ohhh nooo i know where this is going. Also I like to torture myself with that husky film - Eight Below or something? It's not even THAT sad but it's just like - making me weep like a demented little crazy person.

So yeah, tranquil Anders, Anders being hurt, Anders being killed = slaughtering puppies.

I'm a cat person, but it doesn't matter. Any sad thing with animals gets to me. I cry at Free Willy. It's kind of pathetic.

Free Willy falls in the same category as Bethoven and Fluke. (Hmm now that I think about it not somany sad CAT movies out there?) They are all meant to break you at an early age and lead to obsessing and crying over made up characters later in life. We should be thankful!!

I just like animals in general - love both cats AND dogs. People that claim they don't care about animals ****** me off.

Edit: Top page calls for a cute Anders animal pic:

This is weird, but I actaully really liked watching that episode the one time I caught it. I was a depressed young laddy and, instead of having to feel angry all the time, I got to sit down and have a good cry.

Never watched it again, mind you. I'd just turned on Futurama hoping it'd be the one where they make fun of MASH.

The one that gets me is Luck of the Fryrish. Must be that Breakfast Club song...

I waited for you, Fry.

Hopefully this isn't what Pounce went through.  Years of staring off into the sea, waiting for Anders to come back.

You just had to go there!  :crying:

I WILL NOT cry at work.

What THE HELL???? "Do what you have to do"?? Wow this didn't make me sad it made me ANGRY! Uh templar siding Hawke disgusts me! Man am I in the mood to stomp on Meredith's head.

so... as grey as this game's moral compass is, we can all agree that's messed up, right?

Agreed. If I squint, I can understand people's justification for a lot of things, but not that. For one, she's Hawke's sister. For another, even Meredith mentions her as an example of a good mage earlier in Act 3. Also, Bethany never uses blood magic, becomes an abomination or anything. Even when faced with death she accepts it.

I can't see any reason she has to die. Then again, that's my problem with the Right of Anulment. Even innocents have to be killed when it's carried out to its fullest.

I'm too young for Breakfast Club! I've watched it, but it's just so 80's, I can't take it seriously. "Ohhh, look at the punk. He's such a punk. Keep punking, man."

Mwahahahahahaha.

The only movie that involves cats and sadness that I can think of is Milo & Otis. Which I love. Still.

I bet that one would be one of Anders's favorites.

I am sorry but the Fenris scene has nothing on Bethany. I could almost see a real ***** of a Hawke giving Fenris to Danarius, I can't see any Hawke ever just handing his sister over to Meredith to be executed for no reason at all.

I like it, because it's a damn good demonstration of everything you're chosing to do when you're siding with the templars. Bethany is a Circle mage, and you're Annulling the Circle. It's not "Annulment, but oh she's a nice girl, we can't apply it to her". It's partly why I think sparing the mages that surrender is a bit of a cop-out - if you've chosen that path, you should know what it entails and be determined to go through with it regardless.
The Circle is full of Bethanys - beloved siblings or children - and you've chosen the path that requires you to kill every last mage in the tower. It shouldn't pull any punches in making the player face up to that.

What we really needed to show people what they are choosing when they choose the Right is the apprentices.  I mean, would ANYONE condone it if they had shown the templars slaughtering 6 year olds? No one would accpet that.

I honestly don't follow siding with the templars.  Invoking the Right is calling for the death of many for the crime of one man.  It's just wrong.

yep, if they are going to choose that path then let them have all that it entails.

how do you convince Meredith to spare some of the mages? Just a conversation option? She seemed pretty set on murdering them all

It's real messed up.  And I don't think there is an equivalent in Carver's play through if you side with the mages.  Though I might be wrong depending on his friendship/rivalry level.

I like it, too. I'm def. going to kill Bethany on my templar PT, once I get to it. Just because I can.

It's very good for distancing oneself from the gritty realism I fall for on my other PTs.

I wonder how many of the people who play like this also rage about the Chantry being blown up? (Because they didn't get to do it.)

There's lots of amazing Futurama episodes that make me all fuzzy and happy. Luck of the Fryish was the first one that showed me how much the creators LOVE their characters and was just so AWWW. Also the episode inw hich Leela finds out her parents are mutants: the ending with the baby love child song. ^^

I honestly didn't feel anything during that scene.  I just watched it and then went back to this thread.  I guess the Bethany thing just touches me more because I WUV her.

really? But the idea of seeing fen just, obey his old master. doesn't he look like he's had his spirit completely broken or something?

Not really... I honestly thought that scene was boring.  I would never do it even though I dislike Fenris, but the scene just felt emotionally detatched.  And where the **** did fenris anger go?  He just accepts it?  After trying to kill his master for who knows how long he just goes?  Bizarre.

It is exactly why that scene is so dramatic. If you betray Fenris he is completely broken and doesn't care anymore of anything. It wasn't boring for me, it was heartbreaking to see him completely deprived of his will and anger, just bowing his head and accepting. Moreover, you later recive a letter from Danarius in which he tell you that he wiped again Fenris' memory. I find it utterly and completely sad. Maybe it is just me , but I wouldn't turn not even my worst enemy to a slaver...

On a side note, Anders' comment on that quest are some of the more annoying ever...sometimes I want to slap him. He says horrible things with that child's attitude, even to Aveline who really doesn't deserve it...

One man who is not even in the circle.  And the fact that she wanted to invoke it before Anders even did anything makes it ten times worse.

Meredith straight out wanted a slaughter.

The way they can blend completely silly and touching, warm-hearted, sappy crap like that is what makes Futurama one of my favorite shows. It's always just so well done.

And here is where I have to say it: Elthina could have ended it all. ALL she needed to do was FIRE Meredith. She had the power, she had the reason WHY DIDN'T SHE??
