I doubt I can side with templars and feel okay with it.

I can't side with either group and feel okay with it.

Well, it's not like we can get our asses out of the Kirkwall at this point

Hahaha. That's so disturbing it's funny.

Leandra: *shocked and appalled* What are you doing?
Hawke: Well, she's not using it anymore...

OMG... that is hilarious.
Cassandra: You have to be joking dwarf.  The champion did not seriously steal her sister's outfit off her body before she was even cold. Image IPB
Varric:  No ****.  There I was when the champion told the story of how she got her sister's robe.  I was a little wierded out too honestly.

In any case, either side basically demands you make some unpleasant moral compromises. It is hypocritical, I think, to on one hand say the ends justify the means when discussing Anders' blowing up the Chantry and on the other hand decry the Rite Right of Annulment as barbaric because of its unpleasantness. They're both really unpleasant, they're both possibly justifiable depending on your Hawke's values and worldview.

I think it's even more amusing if you have him in your party at the time. When she asks about Hawke and Anders, he doesn't say anything in response to "So, you an Anders, how does that work?" but there's this nice pause between that and "...Maybe we're not the best example," that amuses me greatly.

With Anders in the background being all 'I'M STANDING RIGHT HERE D:'

I kept trying to go into Mom's room after she was zombified because dammit she wasn't using anything in there. I was sure there was some phat loot in that locked room.

Reading Gaider's posts about mages and the whole circle system depresses me quite alot because it's essentially thought of everything and come up with rules that make perfect sense given the situation etc. (for example mages are actally ALLOWED to marry, they are just discouraged to do so for perfectly logical reasons, as are templars) Then I remind myself that it's a bit like communism - theoretically it's all about this euthopian society of equality and happiness but what people did in reality with it was something horrible - it was oppressive and abusive and ultimately ineffective.

So it's not really about what the circle is SUPPOSED to be like, it's about what it's actually become. I think Thedas has come to a point where we can't pretend the system is doing what it's supposed to.

It's awesome.

"Uh. Aveline. The pairing of crazy, political abomination and apolitcal, commitment-fearing apostate might not be the relationship you want to take advice from."

"Yeah, we're not exactly the best marriage to loo--"

"WE'RE NOT MARRIED OH GOD WHY DO YOU ALWAYS DO THAT I NEED TO GO HAVE A LIE DOWN."

I'm pretty sure Gaider made a post somewhere saying that non-violent mages could surrender and be spared from the Right. I'll see if I can find it.

Sorry I just have to throw this in, here.
It's Rite not Right.
For some reason that was bothering the **** out of me.
Alright, I'm okay now.

No, the Right of Annullment is definitely Right. The Rite of Tranquility is Rite. ... Gaider also has a post about this I will find

Hahaha, yes, this. I love watching Anders eyes snap onto Hawke once Aveline brings up Hawke and his relationship. I can practically see him thinking, "Yes, dear, what are your thoughts on our relationship other than an intense desire for a sandwhich when I profess my love to you."

And comparing an abomination which you can turn instantly into vs a smuggler and assassin which will take years of training at best is laughable. But do keep going it's amusing.

Responding to this because it got in after I quoted you:

The theoretical six-year olds who theoretically turn into theoretical demons would, I imagine, rather not do so and would probably only choose ("choose", because how can a child that young really make an informed choice on anything besides what color is his favorite?) to do so if they were in a situation where they or someone they loved were having their lives threatened. Such as a Circle being Annulled.

Also, cats can become demons, too. Fast enough and strong to take down multiple templars.

Then sadly I have to cut them down.

Which still baffles me. I'm not sure if it was because the cat was in such close contact with Anders or what. Regardless it's extremely rare.

Anyways it's pointless going on about this because frankly I am sick of constantly feeling the need to defend myself everytime I dare say a statement that goes against the norm here. I don't know why I feel the need to justify myself. So whatever you think of me keep on thinking it. I really don't care.

My Hawke would probably have a panic attack the moment anyone said anything about Anders and her being married. Srsly, HE IS NOT A STABLE HUSBAND.

No, it make sense. A right is something you're allowed to do. Wardens have the right to conscript, Templars have the right to annull.

The act of making someone Tranquil involves a specific series of actions/has spiritual/magical connotations, like fertility rites.

And it gets better in the Hanged Man, when Anders pipes up and you have the option to say "You can't ignore advice from such a stable source!" or something. I just saw it and already forgot...

I guess this only triggers with certain party members present? Cuz I didn't see it ever before... now I ONLY had Anders in my party though.

I'M NOT ARGUING.
Because the minute I start arguing, I go and go and go and go until the person just admits I'm right, so I'm drawing the line RIGHT HERE.

My Hawke likes to prettend they're just boning and THERE IS NOTHING AT ALL SERIOUS GOING ON, WORLD, THANKS.

He tries to ignore their obnoxious couple mind meld thing. Because, really. Thinking like the abomination? That's healthy. Also, you know, everyone that he's really cared for has died a horrible death/is an obnoxious ****** who joined the Templars, so he's hoping to shomehow trick the universe

Agreed.

So what...it's Right of Annullment and Rite of Tranquility?

Justice: Kristoff was married and I was a part of him. Then the Warden gave me a ring. I am already married twice. I cannot get married again. All of this marriage is UNJUST!
Hawke: Tell me about it. <_<
Anders: *still oblivious and picking flowers for his bouquet*

I only take Anders for Aveline's 'give gawkward gifts and have awkwards dates' quest, because any other companions' comments take priority over his D:

Hmm, I would blow up all of Kirkwall if it meant the rebellion Anders tries to start doesn't advance beyond its walls because I expect the war that follows will be antithetical to reform. That's what my character was thinking when he sided with the Templars, not out of any particular love for the citizens of Kirkwall, but the known world as a whole.

I think at that point the war was probably going to happen no matter what happened.  Alistair pretty much puts out there that there was tension between him and the Chantry over him not turning over apostates and that Orlesian nobles were waiting for any excuse to march on Ferelden.  The Divine was already getting antsy over Kirkwall and the Free Marches being overrun by resolutionists.  Meredith was really determined to invoke the right on her circle.  More mages are being born all over the place.

The tension was already there and even if you burned Kirkwall to the ground, there was still going to be huge war.  I don't think anyone could contain something that had been building for a thousand years.
