LMFAO since my BF can't grow a decent beard, I don't think he'd last very long in dwarven society.

OMG, my husband also looks like a teenager if he shaves completely. When my aunt first met him, she called me a cradle robber and said he looked like Harry Potter. He is, admitedly, younger than me, but only by a couple months. Thus why he always has a beard or goatee and some perma stubble to boot.

Ha I love that! Sign me up to the bearded-husband club - another one with a husband who looks like a teenager without facial hair. He shaves his beard off (which is kept trim, nothing to rival mHawke) every few years for charity because it gives people such amusement.

My hubby looks like Carth. My hubby is in the facial hair club. He has a goatee and I won't let him shave it off. He did once and his facial hair is like wire bristles and he gets a five o'clock shadow (and refuses to shave twice a day). Kissing him without some form of beard is painful.

It's impossible to romance anyone else. I tried it once, but knowing that that kiss was waiting for me in Act 2. Ugh. Total slave for Anders now, male or female Hawke, and I'm okay with that.

I do usually end up sleeping with Fenris now, even Isabela, just I always end up in an Anders romance. Specially just so he can question my Hawkes about Fenris in their estate.

Strange, I found Fenris a perfect lady killer. For me Fenris is the canon romance for my female Hwakes, while Anders is dedicated to my male ones...of course it is a matter of preferences. 

Still, Fenris with his looks, voice, and "brooding"...they even made Varric joke about it. I think they knew perfectly who they wanted to appeal with the character, and for me they managed to, withouth making him a stereotype...

Sebastian the only way to make it somewhat appealing is going rivalmace, really. 

As for Anders, though I said I prefer him with M!Hawked, I think even the F!Hawke romance wall well done

EDIT: that said, maybe I specifically dislike LIs built to appeal to girls. Thane in ME was made that way and I could have cared less for him. Garrus was made to be awesome first and a LI second and I was all over him.

They still rely on the generally accepted lesbian/bisexual stereotypes. Nice, pretty girls. One's the girl-next-door and the other is the ****. But Isabela, Merrill and Leliana don't irritate by breaking out of the fantasy lesbian mold, into something more realistic. What I'd love to see is a female LI that doesn't automatically appeal to the SWM audience. A normal-looking, strong woman who breaks her gender's stereotypes. Aveline as LI (for both genders) would have been perfect for this.

He's got a damn good reason to hate mages, that's - presumably - why he's around.  To remind the player that Anders' opinion has and is going to have some extremely vocal and passionate critics.  I don't think he does as good a job as he could have, though, considering how Anders is out there doing something about it and Fenris is getting drunk in his mansion - but that's clearly the role he was meant to have.  Otherwise he has no connection with the overall plot at all.

Answering randomly some posts above me. It is true, Fenris is perfect to bring around with Anders, you have like the two opposites point of view all the time. They were my standard party along with Varric and I had fun (I wanted to punch them now and then, but it was fine).
Fenris is probably the most "normal" or sane romance by the end of the game...I think you can safely be the viscount or be on the run with him, much less drama. 

Aveline is not interest in Hawke because she is not crazy.

I couldn't see Fenris with any of female Hawkes. I feel like he'd be all "Go away woman, I need some air." I can see him with my male Hawke quite easily and I could see him with Isabela. My female Hawkes always want to fix the tile in his mansion and stand all the stuffed corpses up (maybe in shiny new armor).

On one playthrough I just went heart-happy for the hell of it, and he slammed my Hawke against the wall and I THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO KILL HER.

Never again ;A; I'll stick with Anders. At least he hasn't tried to magicpunch me.

That attractive, casual lesbians are more accepted by homophobes doesn't strike me as being all that relevant, given Bioware's attitude to S/S romance in general.   Mostly that they seem in favor of it.  Unless I suppose we're looking to them to deliberately target specific manifestations of homophobia and break them down. But regardless of our orientation don't we all want attractive options for our characters? Do we design characters to be intentionally ugly ourselves and have it not be for a joke?

I agree he has every reason to hate mages, and to be suspicious of mages, but after the fiftieth anti-mage comment, it begins to grate on the nerves.
Personally, I think the Circle is necessary.... most mages seem all too eager to turn to blood magic to defend themselves.
But that doesn't mean that Fen doesn't get annoying and repetitive.

I like that scene....
I also like the rivalmance ending.
Where he's like, "I don't want to lose you." or some crap like that.
And Hawke is like, "I don't plan on dying".
And then Fenris goes, "You better not" and they totally eat eachother's face in front of everyone. lmfao

He's my second favorite romance.
Just, as a character, he tends to get repititive.

Haha. This is the truth and I might have just ordered a new Garrus t-shirt today because he's the best.

I'm just saying that if Fenris was meant to appeal to females, perhaps that is why I found him uninteresting as a LI, since that seems to be a pattern for me. I don't know what type of female that makes me.

I love both of the romances, but as characters, both of them are annoying after awhile, yes.

I find many compaions can be annoying at some point.

Anders: PLIGHT OF THE MAGES
Fenris: Mages are evil and WOE SLAVERY
Merrill: DEMONS ARE OUR FRIENDS
Seb: Have you thought about letting the maker into your heart?
Izzy: Seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeex~ and boats.
Carver: Whaaaa I'll never be as awesome as Hawke.

The only companions I never found annoying at some point were Varric and Aveline. And Bethany, but I just thought she was boring. I can let Izzy off most of the time, but her constant flirting with Varric makes me jealous D:

You missed half the point. It's not the attractiveness of the character alone, but that she breaks stereotypes. The **** (Isabela) and the Maiden (Merrill) don't break stereotypes like the male LIs, especially Anders, did.
