I don't hate him, either. But, like other party members, his personality gets a tad annoying after awhile.

Another person here who doesn't hate him. Doesn't mean I didn't want to knock him a good one when he got all angry about sparring Anders. Seriously man, Hawke doesn't care about your stupid Chantry or Elthina, even calling her worthless in front of you.

Except Andraste's head - that's just weird What I love is his snuggly jacket with the big hood - leather on the outside and fur inside - I'd so wear that!

ha yes! i honestly don't know why we can't kill seb - it is an injustice to rain fire down on kirkwall because of one apostate. greater good?

I liked Seb, don't get me wrong. He and my Hawke were rivals, but "friends". Right. I have to say it though, if it came down to killing Seb (or all the companions save Varric, obviously) or killing Anders... I would have turned on them all, as much as I love them.

NO ONE THREATENS MY ANDERS AND LIVES!

I don't hate Seb. I am mostly apathetic to him. I'm just tired of his waffling for years on end. He can't do anything without Hawke holding his hand through it.

Like I said, the solution is to rivalry him   You know how Hawke can say to Aveline, "Friends sometimes push"?  That's the attitude I took with Seb.  Pushing him makes him so much more badass.

For my next PT, I'm gonna try Seb and Fen on the friendship paths.  Maker help me with Fen--I play a pro-mage mage.  MAGEMAGEMAGE

I may try to rival him. I don't know. I was happy to tell him to stay in the Chantry since he said it made him happy and he felt at peace. I thought it could be good for him. Sadly I figured he would settle into that role, but he keeps waffling about what he should do instead.

Pretty much. Once the foreshadowing happened with all the doom and gloom and that pit formed in my gut that was just screaming, 'Neener neener Anders is gonna diiiiiiiee', I became resolute.

I decided I'd do anything in order to keep Anders alive. I was prepared for anything and everything.

You can imagine my shock when it went something like:

Hawke: "You kaboomed the Chantry, but that's okay. Let's kill some Templars and run off into the sunset."

I'm going to have to try the rivalry path with Seb on my next playthrough then because, similar to YamiSnuffles, I don't hate him, I nothing him. He's just there on occasion, sometimes being helpful, other times being a bit preachy *shrugs* It's why I found it so amusing when Anders blew up the Chantry and he was demanding I kill him. My Hawke was like "Sorry, non-entity is asking me to kill the man I love? Is that right?"

I do.  We shouldn't really bash another character to promote Anders.  It's bad form.  After all, EVERYONE's bashing Anders everywhere.  Shouldn't we be better than that?

Sure, the Chantry explosion was a little bit of an "Oh ****" moment, but I was honestly expecting a larger fallout. I was pretty sure I was going to have to kill Seb, Aveline, and Fenris, or perhaps something worse like Anders going all Perma!Justice but still staying with him anyways in some crazy, dark, romance willed with the bodies of Templars, or just... something.

I don't hate Sebastian either, I just...well.. I kind of find him useless. I have a hard time justifying taking him anywhere when Varric is just so much better/cooler/funnier/awesomer/isperfectheighttomotorboat.

I bash Seb because ALL characters need a bit of ****ing bashing at some point.

See, my Hawke was like Seb's evil Obi-Wan.  It was so delicious watching her teach him to be more practical, more badass and ruthless, knowing that the two of them would end up hating each other by Act 3 and trying to kill each other post-game.

I actually respect "waffling" to some extent. Indecision isn't necessarily cowardice or fear, it means a decision demands additional critical thinking or even data upon which to draw a conclusion.

People unrelentingly set in their ways tend to bother me more, the same inflexibility that makes people like say, Anders - so effective also makes them dangerous and in some ways irresponsible.

Seb struggles with the very concepts Anders doesn't seem to think are particularly relevant. And one of them is an abomination.

This is my primary issue with Seb.  If he was a different class there's a pretty good chance I'd take him around more often.  But... Varric.

I don't like character hate, it's a waste of time and energy as far as I'm concerned. But I think there should be the option to punch every companion in the game. Every one of them does something punchworthy. And Seb getting punched is very funny. I'd laugh all the same at Anders getting punched.

Well Anders gets stabbed. Although my character would punch him somewhere between his admitting the potion ingredients were a lie and asking for help infiltrating a civic building without telling Hawke why.
