Might I suggest toning the off topic picture/link spam down a little bit, btw? The mods tend to be harder on that than on anything else going on in this topic, and we don't want any of them popping in to wag fingers... Spam with real Anders instead!

I ducked into the Fenris thread to see what people were talking about re:Varric, and only stuck around long enough to read a couple of posts. But the following by Pseudo really stuck with me:

It's like Anders' "potion"... too easy, too good to be real. Too easy to have a group you can always blame, who are always the bad guys. Edit: Even the Darkspawn have the Architect.

That's a very good point. In a game that's being deliberately set up to have few moral absolutes, why are the Tevinters set up to be the evil guys?
The Black Divine versus the White Divine, the stories told about blood mages killing each other in the street (via Feynriel), abusing slaves as entertainment for each other... it's basically depicted as being the most sinful place in Thedas. It may be wise to distrust that kind of propaganda, because I think we might just be getting set up for a fall.

I desperately want to visit Tevinter, or at least get a less biased perpective on it than Fenris'. Anders' comment about never thinking about what it would be like to live there when you give him the Chantry amulet has me very much wanting a DLC or expansion where Hawke visits it with him, but that's pretty ****ing unlikely at this point. I hope it's addressed in future, because it's on part of Thedas we could very much stand to get more information about.
The issues with slavery and the Qunari would tie in nicely with DA2 - we didn't get to fully confront those subjects in this game, and I'd like to bring them to the forefront of the story.

Good point.  In typical DA-Gut-Punch fashion, I could see our next PC being Tevinter.  We'd get to see more of the Tevinter side, then suddenly it is not so black and white, but more grey.  We will then be against all these other grey countries/civilizations that have always painted us as chaotic evil.  Do we live up to the expectations, or do we prove we weren't so bad all this time after all?

I'd almost agree except, they DID come and try to enslave the Denerim Alienage during the blight.  And the whole slavery thing, after seeing how Fenris was treated i don't know. Besides, I want to be a Raider next time. PIRATE ZEVRAN where are you???

I would love if one of the next companions was a male priest from the Imperial Chantry in Minrathous. That could give some excellent insight into live as a higher-ranking Tevinter citizen, and would contrast sharply with the chantry/mages conflict in the Free Marches (and probably Nevarra, Orlais and Ferelden), and previously having had Leliana as a companion.
Whether or not we would agree with them, someone who would put forth pro-slavery, pro-blood magic arguments - or at least provide a different perspective than those we've been handed so far. DA2 suceeded in making people sympathetic to the templars to the point where they felt it was best to Annul the Circle: what if they could create an NPC that could attempt to sway people on other ideals that have just as much impact on the world?

A pro-mage Imperial priest companion... and a disgraced Arvaraad. Can you imagine the story potential?

Hmm, I'm just paranoid. Technology and I have an epic rivalmance going on.

Re: Circle of three. I asked earlier but think it got swallowed; did anyone else notice the red sigils over the darker ones? Any guesses about it? Or are the darker ones just a symbol for Kirkwall?

Well, that's the point, isn't it? All glimpses we get are of the evil slaver mage bogeymen and beyond that.... what? Makes it difficult to care when they're such a caricature in a game that prides itself on the greyness of its grey.
