WHY DIDN'T ANYONE WARN ME?
I just went into the back room of the De Launcet Mansion to get the Qunari swords, and now my whole party is being mauled by traps....and it won't end! -cries-

Oh man this just happened to me today!!! I couldn't figure out how to get out of there, it was utter carnage! I just had to go back to an earlier save. *hugs*

You can do it if you time it JUST right. but its irritating ;p

Oh lord, the first time I did that, Aveline got stuck and died, repeatedly.  I felt awful because I kept laughing at her saying something like 'It's ok, I'm up.' and then immediately dying again.

Meh, Varric in my first playthrough was there and it was like "Look whe---glargh" And madness ensued. I had to switch party members like a madman and fast, trying to get the hell out of there. I managed to in the end...but meh.

Oh lala, I can't remember if there was an arrow trap. It was just rolling things, 3 large sets of them no less, that kept throwing my mage successively backwards to the beginning... and there was loot at the end and the door on the other side was locked. And the switch was just behind me at the beginning of the whole thing. The rogue I had with me said NOTHING, damn you Varric! :P
Yeah... taught me a lesson to look around. Haha. I played a rogue before that blood mage so I think it made me too lax about these things.

Hey guys, big time fanfiction rec here. It begins with M!Hawke/Anders sailing away from Kirkwall with Isabela and tells the tale of everything that comes afterward. FYI, it's 20k, so it REALLY tells the story of what comes after.

http://rattsu.devian...765986#/d3dtde0

I know this writer from a friendly competition we both participated in, and she's fantastic. I'm more than halfway through part one, and this is exactly the story I've been wanting to read.

Basically the idea is that yes, Anders's state is very much like a case of bipolarity, which makes him feel everything intensely, not only bad things, but also good things, like his love for Hawke.

On a psychological level, if you take the friend path, and do the merge you go mania - he's happier, more driven, but also not afraid of doing what he feels needs to be done.

If you take the rival path, you go depression - he's very miserable but also willing to make up for his mistakes.

Which path is better is ultimately up for the player to decide.

That's the gyst of it.

I'll see if I can post the whole thing tomorrow.

Either way, the impression I got was that the whole thing is just very bittersweet, not the terrible tragedy some people are making it out to be.

Oh, maybe the fire traps in that Deep Roads-y cavern up Sundermount? And there's another one of those in that secret passage in the docks. Grr. I hate those staggered fire traps!
Yeah, Varric never detects traps for me. I guess he's more of a coersion rogue, whereas Isabela's the theiving/sneaky type. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it!

Also, Anders!

And please don't make too many assumptions based on what I posted. It's really better to just read the whole thing.

Wait. Which part isn't tragic? His mental state causes him to bomb the **** out of the grand cleric. I admit, I'm tabbing back and forth and may have missed part of the conversation...

I think the writers for DA2 were going through some tragedy addiction or something. It's beautiful, but OMG my poor heart! Cruel.

This is what makes him so difficult for our poor Hawkes to handle.  I know it's rough for Anders during those three years between Act 2 and Act 3, but it can't be easy for Hawke either.  Here's this man who loves Hawke more than anything in the world, would drown everyone in blood to keep safe, and is constantly bouncing between extreme highs and lows.  And I think Anders also knows he's not making Hawke's life any easier.  He keeps saying how surprised he is that Hawke sticks with him, even on the friendship path.

Hmm, very interesting.

Can I just clarify something? This is post-Justice yes? Rather than being related to/influenced by his mental state in Awakening?

Edit: Urk, I fail at coherency tonight!

And thank you (in advance) for posting and asking this. :)

Thank you so much for fighting to get information and sharing with us ^^ It's awesome that the writers are willing to share but I'd never have the courage to ask like you do. I can't wait to read the actual thing tomorroe or whenever you post it!

Thanks for posting that silver-crescent, very interesting!

@Heidenreich: the only thing my group could time right was impalement followed by death-by-circular saw. Silly sausages *had* to go looting for treasure...

@eleridragon: I'd be laughing too :D

With all the Harry Potter talk earlier I went out and bought the new DVD because I'm too lame to watch movies in theatres.

I cried.

I hope you're all happy now.

I teared up during Anders Harry and Hermione's little dance. Such a beautiful scene :crying:
