Actually I agreed on the fact that Anders lies and betrays you. And then that person said that what Isabela did was okay and that she didn't lie. Yeah. I can only tolerate hypocrites when they're as charming as Anders.

Also, tbh, it's funny how people come here trying to show us 'the other side of things' assuming we don't see it on our own.

That is where our views differ though. Isbella makes it clear from the start she is going to get that relic to save herself. Nowhere does she say that she would turn it over for the greater good. I'm sorry but in her shoes I would be wary of telling anyone what it was too. She knew that the Qunari were there for it, but she believed that if she took it out of the city they would chase after it. Not that she truly cared, because them sitting there waiting for it to come to them would help her out. She is very forward about that fact she would betray anyone to save herself.

Anders on the other plays your friend, and uses your own goodwill against you to cause havoc that makes what the Qunari did look like just a bad day.

Also, perhaps some of you should go reread the first post in this thread. It stated it was a place to discuss Anders for both his fans and those that dislike him.

But it's rather arrogant to come in here and tell us we're not looking at the full enormity of his character.  We are.  We just don't agree with you.

Is that even bloody possible?...

I..I think my brain just broke :(

as for the post about Anders being a liar and a bad-dude. We're aware. That's half the charm. He's not so much a bad guy doing bad things, as he is a broken man on a train with NO BREAKS OMG CHOO CHOO TO BOOMTOWN. It makes him that much more likable, because Hawke's who <3 him are flailing around trying to save him. The tragity of it all makes it epic.

Now, less angry, more Meredanders..

It happens from time to time. My favourite was the guy who posted a five page essay essentially screaming at t3hbrute why Anders is a terrorist and why we're all horrible for liking him.

I don't think that qualifies as "flaming" as such.

More like "OMG U ARE SOOOO EVUL USUCK KTHNX BAI"

While we laughed about it for a page or two.
Then debated a little and moved back to Sparta Kirkwall-style craziness.

Maybe definitions have changed, but isn't that essentially what flaming is?

Not even going to start on Isabela again because I will never agree with you and this is an Anders thread, so I won't waste pages arguing over Isabela.

That said, no one is mad that you are debating the other side (I don't think there's anyone at least). I think some people are just annoyed that you keep saying things like you feel the need to inform us of the other side. Which comes off as you thinking we are oblivious to there being another side to the argument. Or that we haven't argued about this already. Or, as I said but was ignored, that some of us in the thread have already argued on the very same side that you are arguing.

So, you know, feel free to debate til the cows come home. It's just that this all has come up enough that many of us tire of it quickly.

@Phenerios We are discussing him. And so are you. And some people have gotten offended and some people haven't.

When this topic has been discussed before, both sides have brought arguments to the fore that are considered and well backed up by evidence, and people have agreed to disagree, and the topic has died down until someone else has brought it up, and then it's been discussed in much the same way. You have brought no new arguments to us, and those arguments you have brought have been faulty, and so we've disagreed with them and pointed out why we disagree with them.

If you or anyone else has chosen to take offense at that, well, so be it. But your language has hardly been lacking in... defensiveness. At no stage has anyone said anything nasty about you personally. We've just told you that we think you're not right, and why. And you haven't been able to come up with evidence to the contrary.

I was thinking more singular vs. plural

It was a flame (a sorry excuse for one at that), no flaming occured.

Sorry, I do that sometimes.

seriously?

someone quoted to you earlier that Isabella does indeed lie to you, she says she doesn't know what the relic is when you ask her and she patently does.

Also when you go with her to get it and find out what it is, she says OK help me get it and we'll give it to the Arishok. Then she legs it and leaves you a note.

Say what you like about Anders, it's been said a million times before, but if you blatently ignore the evidence people keep citing about Isabella and saying 'hey she's faultless she never lies' then no one is going to take you seriously.

I reeeeally wouldn't bother with this guy. He comes in here toting his horn like he's got this radically different view point about Anders that'll enlighten us all and when presented with evidence against his arguments he just ignores it and pretends it doesn't exist.

Takes place after one of his escape attempts.  It's.... downright prophetic, now.  Not to mention just gorgeously done.

Not the first time I have been accused of that, and I admit it was perhaps slightly arrogant, but then again there was over 1000 pages, and I was too lazy to read them all. I came in to express my view point on this character. I may have dumbed down some of my statements so that people felt I was treating them like they were stupid, but not the case. I am use to dealing with people that don't seem to grasp something the first time you tell them. So, there are quite a few times I have to talk down to thier level. It doesn't mean they are stupid just perhaps not as informed, or not understanding me as best as I feel it can be expressed.

Well, thanks ever so much for coming in and enlightening us poor deluded fans.  1200 pages of nothing more than shirtless Anders and kittens tends to rot one's brain, I can tell you.  /sarcasm

Still better then TranquilAnders.
Feraldan Circle is a soft one - seven escape attempts, really.... By Meredith definition he equels as a blood mage abomination x7. I wonder if she knew....

See this is why threads turn into flame wars. I have already stated earlier that was not the case. That I wanted to express my views from the otherside of the coin. Perhaps you have heard them perhaps not. You could have chosen to just ignore them.
