Everyone agreed to Varric's suggestion of drinks. They all downed a pint before their food even got to them. By the time they finished dinner, everyone was good and drunk. Even Fenris had been provided with a bowl of wine and Merrill drank from a thimble provided by a very confused innkeeper. When dinner was finished, the whole party started a chant demanding cookies and cake. They ended up getting loud enough that the innkeeper had to call in the village's only guard to calm them.

The imposing red head stomped up to the raucous group and scowled. No one noticed the guard until she decided to drop her shield into the middle of their table.

"Hey! Watch the drinks," Isabela protested.

"You lot will need to think of something other than drinks if you don't want me to drag you outside," the guard warned.

Marian flashed a conciliatory smile. "We'll be heading to bed soon enough...?"

"Aveline," the guard provided.

"Aveline," Marian repeated with a smile. "As I said, we're finished here. We have an early morning."

"What exactly brings such an... eclectic group to my town?" Aveline asked, pointedly ignoring the naked twins seated in front of her.

"We're going to free the princesses from the tower!" Merrill responded with barely contained excitement.

"And I've come to make sure they don't do just that," Fenris said.

"I'm just here for the free drinks," Isabela chimed in.

"The princesses?" Aveline said, disregarding Isabela completely. "I heard about that. They were taken under my watch. I wanted to bring in the one responsible, but I couldn't do it by myself. Perhaps I can offer my services."

"And just what services are those?" Isabela asked with a waggle of her eyebrows.

"We'd be happy to have you," Garret said. "We'll be leaving tomorrow morning."

"I'll give you time to sleep off your hangovers," Aveline said with a light smile. "Now off you all go, or I will throw you out of town."

Just reread the latest installment and I am disappointed with myself. Aveline's presence apparently kills some of the dirtiness. Just means I'll have to add extra depravity as things go on.

Since Varric seemed to be the only one with money, he got a room for himself, and forced everyone else to share a smaller room. Fenris was quick to point out the disparity and complain that they should at least share the two rooms.

"If you want to pay, Wolf, then you're free to get your own room," Varric replied.

"I could, if I wanted. I'd just need to borrow the money," Fenris said.

"And how would you pay it back?" Varric asked.

"I'm good for it," the wolf growled.

"Uh-huh. Goodnight, Wolf. Try not to hump anyone's leg raw again tonight."

Before Fenris could reply to that, Varric went into his room and promptly locked the door. Garret raised an eyebrow at Fenris, but the wolf blithely ignored him and trotted into the shared room. One large bed took up most of the room and there was a small couch off to the side.

"Sooo," Marian said slowly, "How do we want to do this?"

"And here I thought you had that all figured out," Isabela replied, making Marian blush.

"Oh no. There's no way I'm sharing a bed with my sister," Garret said.

"And I'm not sharing a bed with that monster," Fenris added, motioning his head toward Merrill.

Isabela sighed. "Really, you two are no fun. Fine, you can sleep on the couch. If you get cold though, the more the merrier."

"I think I'll see if Varric will let me in his room," Merrill squeaked.

"Nonsense kitten," Isabela said, scooping the squirrel up and placing her on a pillow. "We girls need to stick together."

I've very thankful that Yami's crack wasn't here last night. I would of never been able to channel the angst I needed when writing last night else wise. I hate writing depressing stuff, I rather keep to fluff.

Okay all. I've written over 4000 words, with over 9 pages. I have officially run out of steam. I seriously don't know how this turned from, what was supposed to be a few paragraphs into some sort of epic of the Anderstian faith.

Have fun with kittens and cookies. Now I need dinner.
