I was playing Dissent with my warrior today... It reminded me of something.
All the people wanting to stab Anders in the face as soon as possible and grumbling that they hate him... do they realize they can get rid of him from act 2 onwards? I don't see why they don't just do that and stop complaining about the whole thing.
Well there are 2 more things in addition to what ppl pointed out about him being the only healer.
1. He blows the Chantry up anyway so I guess it doesn't change much with regards to people complaining.
2. This might be a bug but he still shows up for Varric's Blackmarsh conversation XD that must've annoyed quite a few people
LOLz How horrible of me, I dropped that comment and then lost myself back in the game. I must say - Arishok is only easy to kill as a mage. Or maybe I'm just a sucky warrior and rogue.

Back to Anders. Yes, he's the only mage, but then again I never understand the fuss about playing nightmare

. *shrug* OMG, more waves. And more waves. WEEEE. Blechs.
But I see the point, he's the only healer. Unless you are on PC and like to mod. Then Merrill can do healing too

.
Yep, your companions exist and have a life even after you dump them. How dare they! LOLz
It makes sense Anders talks to Varric, they're friends. Even if you're not friends or anything with Anders, that doesn't mean he doesn't have friends in the group. I doubt that is a glitch.
Speaking of that convo. Before that convo, Anders was bemoaning that Justice won't let him drink. Then Varric says he opens up a tab for Anders and he comes over for a drink and stories. Ahmmm... so does Anders drink or not?
