It's IMPOSSIBLE to be mean to Alistair. I tried rejecting the rose in the meanest way possible and felt guilty for the rest of the day.

It's like Anders's "b-but all the things you said... we talked about it... YOU'RE BREAKING UP WITH ME?! :crying::crying::crying:"

You had the strength to break up with Ander?! You are a stronger person then me.:crying:

Because I am top and this is hot!

On my first dude Hawke I slept and broke up with everyone. He was happy but I felt miserable. XD At least everyone else's reaction is cool. Merrill is like "Ok fine" (even though you know she'll go to cry in her house in the Alienage :crying:) whereas Isabela and Fenris are leaving Hawke anyway.

nggg love that pic

Fenders is my secret love and what puts me to sleep at night.  At some point I will write some smut on the two...

@Threeparts that's a great point. It always infuriates me how people say they don't want to romance Isabela out of fear of catching something. Ugh.

unrelated: Did we ever get a responce out of devs about how Wesley was able to marry and if it's common practice and whether templars actually take vows of celibacy?

I was talking to a friend about that a few days ago.  I thought is the templars assigned to a circle don't marry because I think they live there and they sure as hell can't marry a mage.  But the ones in the Chanty's can.  Also the vow for them might be a optional thing, unless like I said they to be stationed in a circle.

Hm, I see. *looks at her Bethany/Cullen fic* You're doomed, kids.

edit: sorry forgot to thank you! Thank you ^_^

i think that templars could always marry; it's just that the issue never came up in origins. gregoir might have had a wife but it made no difference to the story so we never found out. though i agree that templars in the circle have less opportunity; there are both male and female templars there.

templars aren't brothers/sisters imo. their vows are different

Except the desire demon in the tower during the broken circle quests says that she can offer the templar what he's not allowed a wife and family.
Also Leliana calls Alistair a brother I believe and Alistair says he never took his vows because he left before becoming a templar - though it was a while ago I played origins so I may not have remembered that one correctly.

There was a theory that Aveline and Wesley married before he became a templar, but after Lukas's short story that got jossed. Damn. I really need to know. XD

i thought it was because he couldn't find a wife/girlfriend. will pay attention next time i'm in the mage tower.
alistair was a virgin because he was brought up by and lived in the chantry... more to do with lack of opportunity than vows.

David Gaider responded to a post about this before, actually:

David Gaider wrote...

Templars do not take vows of chastity.

Chantry priests are considered "married" to the Maker-- though it's not an actual marriage, just a spiritual one-- and thus are indeed celibate.

For templars, the situation is not quite the same. Their duties require them to be dedicated to their duties-- they're going to live in a Circle of Magi (which does not have room for spouses and families) or a chantry, or otherwise be pre-occupied. Marriage is impractical, and the Chantry thus discourages such marriages as having dependants introduces complications that templars can do without (as well as a potential means of leverage).

That said, the Chantry does occasionally give permission for templars to marry, provided the spouse has their own means of support. This is often the case when the spouse owns land or a title. Even so, considering the spouse wouldn't be able to see the templar often, it's not going to happen frequently. Before anyone asks, the Chantry also discourages templars from marrying each other even more so-- that's considered fraternization within the ranks (the templars are run as a military order, remember, and possess the same discipline).

Mages within the Circle are permitted to marry, but it's impractical with outsiders and they also must get permission from the Chantry (so it might be considered a reward for good behavior). Even so, the culture within the typical Circle of Magi tends to make mages unwilling to marry. The policy on fraternization will depend on the individual Circle-- some forbid it, while others do not, though in either case it still occurs. Considering mages live outside normal culture, they also consider themselves free of cultural conventions (especially those who were raised in a Circle from a young age) and thus tend to be quite liberal in their views.

Whew! Okay-- verbose answer of the day. Time for coffee. ../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png

Hehe Meril is my favourite in this picture - so friggin COOL! And I love how Anders and Isabella are fully dressed still :P

I know we were taking the ****** out of Anders' love life yesterday and Justice doesn't let him get drunk or cheat at cards but this picture pretty much shows anders the way I imagine him: Sexy, with an endless list of ex lovers, a fun drunk and an awesome card player. Just pretty damn cool. Hehe " the brilliant smug bastard he was"

Hey, just got a new snippet of Anders dialogue!

I'm in the endgame on a pro-mage playthrough where I keep Anders by my side (yeah, like I'd willingly play anything else), and we're in Lowtown, going down the stairs toward the Docks...

Anders: "This is... worse than I thought it would be."

Poor Anders!

This is a bit late in coming, but it was posted while I was asleep and I wanted to comment on it.

I really kind of want to hear that comment, but in the half dozen or so times I've played through the end of the game, I've never gotten it. The only two comments I can remember are Anders saying that they should hurry to the Circle tower and another about how this was what the Templars have wanted all along.

That's weird because I never get the two you mention. I always get the "this is worse than i thought" one.

yeah I kinda imagined he's not a very good player, too. Wasn't there something Varric said about Dog playing better than Anders?

Death Note and DA crossover. The crackiness never ends. By Syberfox.

She would fall off the cliff of love.  Also that picture is great.  Now I will always see Justice just floating behind Anders.

I had Master of Tartarus play in the background when that loaded. Now i'm forever going to see that as Anders' Persona.
