I don't see it with Anders but I don't see it with anyone not even Izzy. Beth is so bland and sweet and nice but in a "would make a good chantry sister" kind of way
Yes. Chantry sister.
Beth has some fire in her, especially if you make her a Warden. And, if she travels with Hawke after Stuff Goes Down, and Isabela's with Hawke...
So this post has a serious lack of Anders. Rectified!

Wow. I decided to replay Awakening, and it's such a different experience now. I found it rather bleak even prior to DA2, but now the foreshadowing with Anders and Justice adds an additional suckerpunch.

I think it's going to be a long time before I'll be able to play DA:A again, makes me feel quite sad just to think about it
Randomly posting a screenshot I took last night - I just love the expression on Anders's face, I'm only in Act 1 and already he looks like he's in love, lol

Those dreamy looks are a Position One thing, I think. Anders' sad eyes just exacerbates it. I've spent most of my early Act I mage playthrough with the growing impression that Carver is totally hot for his big sister on account of...*longing stare*.

When Bethany says that Anders reminds her of her father, it's after he gets done telling her how lucky she was to have received her training from someone who loved her. It conjured a mental image of Malcolm Hawke saying "You don't know how lucky you are!" In that context, I'm not sure Bethany was complimenting Anders at all. More like "Yeah, Dad was a nag, too."ishmaeltheforsaken wrote...

I never thought Bethany saying Anders was like her dad was that big a deal, tbh. It's possible to see qualities in a guy that are similar to one's father, and still have a crush on him, and it doesn't have to be creepy. IMO.
I don't think it's a big deal or creepy. I do think it precludes thoughts of wonderful orgasmic bliss. Real people are attracted to people who exhibit their parents' qualities all the time. But that does not equate to some Elektra complexed "You remind me of my dad, so I want you" nonsense. With Anders and Bethany, that would be the case, because all we hear is that he reminds her of Malcolm. We don't see anything she likes about him except for that paternal resemblance. There's a reason that this comparison is the only one the writers chose to show us as Hawke.
Really? Oh that's hilarious, "Brother/sister I hate you and your overshadowing shadowness" *looks on dreamily*SurelyForth wrote...

The dreamy looks are half the reason I keep Anders in Position One all the time. Then I can give him dreamy looks while he gives Hawke dreamy looks, haha.

I also enjoy putting Varric there sometimes, 'cause I like to imagine him casually checking out Hawke's rack. In a purely platonic way, of course.

Well, we all know how much Varric loves Hawke's rack.
