Wow. I decided to replay Awakening, and it's such a different experience now. I found it rather bleak even prior to DA2, but now the foreshadowing with Anders and Justice adds an additional suckerpunch.

Which makes me especially grateful for the bursts of cheesy Anders humor to break up some of the

I don't see it with Anders but I don't see it with anyone not even Izzy. Beth is so bland and sweet and nice but in a "would make a good chantry sister" kind of way

Yes. Chantry sister.

Beth has some fire in her, especially if you make her a Warden. And, if she travels with Hawke after Stuff Goes Down, and Isabela's with Hawke...

So this post has a serious lack of Anders. Rectified!

Ooh Beth x Leli

Also gorgeous Anders pic :D

Oh my boyfriend is evil.

He told me that in one of the Fallout: New Vegas missions you find a guy called Anders... and he's crucified by slavers. He thought it might interest me to know. *sad face*

I said it's appropriate considering how many people totally want to crucify (and do, in an abstract sense) Anders on this thread forum. (I should type slower)

And I just wanted to say something that's been on my mind... I always say that I like the fact that Anders doesn't fight mages on the pro-templar side, but the other day I remembered that the FIRST thing I did when I started the pro-templar-ish (pro-peace let's say) rogue was to look up if I could avoid killing Anders. I didn't necessarily want him to join me or anything, but I wanted a way to keep him alive.
So I'm a total hypocrite and an evil person :P. I apologize to all who want the Anders rivalry ending for being such a ridiculous git.

I think it's going to be a long time before I'll be able to play DA:A again, makes me feel quite sad just to think about it Posted Image

Randomly posting a screenshot I took last night - I just love the expression on Anders's face, I'm only in Act 1 and already he looks like he's in love, lol

On the topic of Male!Hawke and Anders romance... someone posted on reddit wondering if her husband is gay because he searched "gay romance in Dragon age 2" HAHAHAHAHA.
Which reminds me... Yatze romanced Anders, that was such a win for the Anders' fans... well, at least for me.

Wish I could get that smooth complextion when editing IconicHawke. No matter what I do those lines in his forehead still appear. *Sighs*

I also love all the dreamy stares Anders gives Hawke thoughout the game, even in Act I. I've been noticing them more and more because I'm hoplessly obsessed.

Edit: I think at this point I could give Anders a run for his money in the creeper department. <_<

@DeaHamlet: I loved that article he wrote on romancing Anders, a definite win!
@Mistress Tasharra: I am also in no way hopelessly obsessed, nope, that screenshot is not at all evidence for the factPosted Image

Those dreamy looks are a Position One thing, I think. Anders' sad eyes just exacerbates it. I've spent most of my early Act I mage playthrough with the growing impression that Carver is totally hot for his big sister on account of...*longing stare*.

Also true. I always wondered why Carver kept staring at his big brother like that. *Snickers*

My Act I party picker always tends to go, "My brother, my lover, and my best friend." Well, ignoring the fact that Anders and Hawke haven't slept together yet... but it's always good to plan for the future, no?

I never thought Bethany saying Anders was like her dad was that big a deal, tbh. It's possible to see qualities in a guy that are similar to one's father, and still have a crush on him, and it doesn't have to be creepy. IMO.

I don't think it's a big deal or creepy. I do think it precludes thoughts of wonderful orgasmic bliss. Real people are attracted to people who exhibit their parents' qualities all the time. But that does not equate to some Elektra complexed "You remind me of my dad, so I want you" nonsense. With Anders and Bethany, that would be the case, because all we hear is that he reminds her of Malcolm. We don't see anything she likes about him except for that paternal resemblance. There's a reason that this comparison is the only one the writers chose to show us as Hawke.

When Bethany says that Anders reminds her of her father, it's after he gets done telling her how lucky she was to have received her training from someone who loved her. It conjured a mental image of Malcolm Hawke saying "You don't know how lucky you are!" In that context, I'm not sure Bethany was complimenting Anders at all. More like "Yeah, Dad was a nag, too."

On an unrelated topic, I do adore Anders' m/m romance, but I miss his default "you clicked on me" line from the f/f romance. "I don't know whether I should cherish every moment we're together or fear for your safety." He never says that with M!Hawke. It's always "Your support has meant the world to me." Sweet, yes, but I want the cherish.

Really? Oh that's hilarious, "Brother/sister I hate you and your overshadowing shadowness" *looks on dreamily*

The dreamy looks are half the reason I keep Anders in Position One all the time. Then I can give him dreamy looks while he gives Hawke dreamy looks, haha.

I also enjoy putting Varric there sometimes, 'cause I like to imagine him casually checking out Hawke's rack. In a purely platonic way, of course.

This thread has now convinced me that either (A) Carver is a Creeper, (B) Hawke has a really nice ass, or © Both!

YES!  <checks>  Er.  Has it?  I'm not seeing anything beyond Part 34.  Time for some crazy F5ing.

On the subject of DAA, maybe I'm just weird, but I'm playing through it for only the second time (working on a legacy mage game), and having way too much fun twisting the past in order to suit the future.  The conversation with Wynne being a case in point:

Amell (anti-Circle, anti-Chantry): 'Sup, Wynne.  What's new in the world of Circle politics?
Wynne: It's bad.  The Libertarians are pushing for a complete break with the Chantry.
Anders: That's crazy!
Amell: I say it's about time.
Wynne: Are you daft?  You can't force a change; you can only work to persuade the Chantry to soften its stance.
Amell: Sure, let me know how that works out for you.  I hope that Chantry yoke is comfy.
Wynne: The only alternative is genocide.
Amell: Gotta break a few eggs to make an omelet, if you get my drift, Anders?
Anders: What are you looking at me for?  I still think the whole idea's mad.
Amell: Just keep it in mind, buddy.  Now let's go kill some templars.

And I missed all of the conversations with Justice the first time around, since he didn't make the cut for my A-team.  This time, it's going to be Nate, Anders and Justice all the wayPosted Image

It has, yah, it's up to part 38.

Are you logged in? I know last week or so it was not showing properly for people unless they were logged in to LJ.

Random, but a few people mentioned default male Hawke's face texture. If you're on PC, there's a mod that allows you to edit that. It actually changes the face texture so it doesn't stay even if you try to change it. It feels kind of weird to change him, but for those interested:
