Oh I bumped into this girl from my course I don't talk to that much like 2 weeks ago, and she had heard that I'd been obsessed over a RPG game from some common friends so she asked me if it was DA2 and I was like Omg you play too?? And we went into a super awesome detailed discussion of stuff and I was just thinking of nudging our conversation towards Anders when she went: Ohh and I romanced Merill cause I absolutely love her she is perfect, and I was SO HAPPY when I finally got to knife that dick Anders - he's such a ****head and a whiny hypocrite and I hated him SO MUCH. And her eyes were actually blazing with hatred when she spoke about him. It actually broke my heard to see it Real life hate is worse than forum hate!! 

But apart from her I've got nobody to talk to in rl, the boyfriend has almost finished the game but he thinks Anders is "meh" which is alot worse than hate because it means he doesn't care enough to talk about him. Anders hasn't poopbombed anthing yet tho, maybe when he does it will provoke my boyfriend to FEEL something for him. We are already fighting about mages all the time, but he dismisses Anders as an over-emotional irrational extremist whos info and arguments can't be taken seriously and used as proof of anything <_<

Thanks, guys. As much as I loved Origins when I first played it, DA2 has spoiled me and now I just feel like my characters are wading through molasses in each fight. Can't wait to be back in Kirkwall's crazy loving embrace!

Well I'm a loudspoken ass, so if someone said that to me, I'd be like, "Excuse me...I've just....ceased to care about your opinions anymore."
My best friend had a better one, though. Someone was ranting about how they knifed Anders because he's a terrorist and deserved to be put down. Then they asked Drew if he had knifed him, too. And Drew was like, "Hell yeah, I knifed him. With my dick."
I laughed for like 7 minutes straight.

I know that, but it doesn't negate the fact they turned the usual stereotype on its head.

Btw, what does Isabela say if Hawke is female? I only romanced Merrill with a male Hawke so far.

Exactly. Fenris and Anders seem to have issues with each other regardless of romance. But I think the romance does play a big role in the escalation of thier little catfights because Anders seems to be in love with Hakwe no matter what. He has a hard time letting anyone else romance Hawke because of it. Then to see someone he hates with someone he loves, I don't think he knows quite what to make of it.

I've no clue. Only male Hawke for Merrill so far.
I romanced Fenris with both male and female.
Anders with both male and female.
Isabela with female.
Merrill with male.

That's it.

And yes, Drew is pure awesome. Best friends for 6 years. For that exact reason. lol

I'm always interested to find out why they think he's a dick. I mean, yeah he IS a dick, but at least have a good reason to think so - not, "Oh the Chantry was all peace and looooooove and they took his cat so he wuz mean!"

Bah I remember my first playthrough.
I believe I went after Isabela....but...I did it wrong, because Fenris showed up at my Estate...I picked heart options and next thing I know, he's slamming me against walls and ****.
At that point I was like .
Then he left me, and I was like <_<.
Then I went to Anders' clinic and picked heart options (I flirted with everyone in this damn game) and he leapt on me like a lion.
Then I was back to .
Then we got busy, and afterwards he asked to move in, and Hawke was like, "I WANT YOU HERE UNTIL WE DIE."
And I was like .
Then the jealous party banter started and I was like at first....then it slowly turned into ....then finally, .
And by the time I fought Orsino I was .


Edit: I just realized that I totally wandered off the subject I was talking about.
It's too early for me to be awake!

Second expansion (and mods - let's not forget all this wonderful mods) is worth buying full game - too short, but very nicely done. And about mods - I suggest trying... hmm Dance with Rogues? And Tortured Hearts - this one's parody, and need a lot of patience and time, but it's a funny one - and a lot of roleplaying is included.

Well, that's encouragement to plod on!

What's Dance with Rogues about? I've not really got that many mods: only the CEP and some extra faces, because the default ones for females (specifically elven females) are ugly as sin.

On a different topic, seeing all this talk about how Anders is in love with Hawke regardless of whom he/she romances makes me wonder how I'm ever going to be able to romance Fenris. I want to (he's the only other DA2 LI I want to try out; damn you, Gideon Emery and your sexy voice), but I'm not sure whether my resolve will be strong enough...

Fenris' romance is really nice. I romanced him on my 1st playthrough. It's really really squee-worthy and in no way as tragic as Anders' romance.

Not really; I roleplay my Hawkes with entirely different personalities so I get to explore every possible dialog option during the romance while still remaining a love interest. Besides, his voice never gets old. *swoons*

i try to romance fenris but i am still obsessed with anders... it's like i'm physically unable to not hit the flirt buttons without saving beforehand so i can reload

While I make different Hawkes to roleplay the game in different ways, there just always end up being things that no Hawke will do (same with Shepard and the Warden). It all comes down to, if I play a Hawke a certain way, it stops being fun for me. So maybe I end up making a lot of the same choices with different Hawkes, but it's still fun and new, because it's a completely different Hawke doing those things.

Granted, I'm the type of person who also replays one Hawke a lot. I end up enjoying my canons in BW games enough that its fun to replay it the same way over and over just to relive the experience. It's like a really good book or movie in that way. I've read some of the HP books dozens of times, not because they change each time, but because I can still savor each scene as if it was brand new to me.

It's almost like I'm purposely torturing myself by denying myself Anders' flirty dialogue. I really can't do it since a lot of his flirting dialogue has some of his best lines in the game, well for m!Hawke anyway, I swoon everytime I hear his "as much as you fancy" line.

I replay my Hawkes a lot too! DAII is actually the first RPG where I've done that.

Well, I could tell you, but it sounds pretty cheesy summarized without spoilers - not like it doesn't sound chessy at all, now that I think about it. Still gameplay is worth it, world's believeable, and story is... dark to say at least.

About prefered Li's: Depends of what my Hawke is - but after 4 playthroughts with diffrent intrests, I'll stick with Anders and Isabela - maybe Merril.

Concerning picking LIs or making choices, I agree that there are some things none of my Shepards/Wardens/Hawkes will ever do. Eg. I've tried various backgrounds with Shepard, but I know that Ruthless is the one I'll never try, because it just doesn't appeal to me. Likewise, I know none of my Wardens will ever kill the Dalish or keep the Anvil of the Void. They're just choices that I don't want to make. It's the same for LIs, some of them just don't appeal to me. I don't get the feeling that I'm missing out on anything if none of my Wardens ever romance Leliana or none of my Hawkes ever romance Izzie.

And it's true that you may make the same choices, but making them with a different character and a different background gives them a different flavour. Still, I wouldn't mind replaying the exact same character twice: if I enjoy the story and the choices I make, I don't mind repetition. It's same as watching a film or reading a book more than once: some people enjoy it.
