How many other people don't get that the Chantry controls the Templars?

Concerning picking LIs or making choices, I agree that there are some things none of my Shepards/Wardens/Hawkes will ever do. Eg. I've tried various backgrounds with Shepard, but I know that Ruthless is the one I'll never try, because it just doesn't appeal to me. Likewise, I know none of my Wardens will ever kill the Dalish or keep the Anvil of the Void. They're just choices that I don't want to make. It's the same for LIs, some of them just don't appeal to me. I don't get the feeling that I'm missing out on anything if none of my Wardens ever romance Leliana or none of my Hawkes ever romance Izzie.
And it's true that you may make the same choices, but making them with a different character and a different background gives them a different flavour. Still, I wouldn't mind replaying the exact same character twice: if I enjoy the story and the choices I make, I don't mind repetition. It's same as watching a film or reading a book more than once: some people enjoy it.
@ MG800: Ok, I'll look it up.

I think it was made pretty clear from DA:O
The Templars are the military branch of the Chantry. They are near enough the holy army.
Like Leliana said to Alistair: "But you must have been a brother before you became a templar, no?"

Well, ingame, it looked more like the Templars allowed Chantry presence, and listen to them, only for diplomatic reasons (well, noone fancies holy wars). And the fact that Elthina is doing nothing, may gave them the idea, that Chantry doesn't at least try to control their military force. Elthina is a poor leader, let's face it.

In the same way as Meredith and Orsino do, I imagine - by screaming very loudly at each other and insulting each other until something nearby gets broken.
Then you enter the war stage.

That's what my friend believes, but he played the first game too! I could see maybe getting all the way through DA2 and not getting it, but DA:O?

I almost punched this super-nerdy-guy at the comic shop the other day.
Seriously.
Him: Dragon Age 2 was the biggest disappointment so far in the year. I'm hoping they don't butcher the Mass Effect Series like they did to Dragon Age. I mean, seriously? Anders gay? And Isabela looks totally different. Plus the timeline is so ****ed up I can't follow it.
Me: Anders is not gay. He just likes cats and shiny things and Hawke's beard. That doesn't make him gay.
Him: Alexa, he's gay. And whiny. I mean, he was probably a romance option for guys because girls wouldn't put up with his ****ing.
Me: You're just jealous. Anders does it better.
Him: Does what better?
Me: ****ing. Now shut up before we get into a serious debate. That will probably end in me smashing your face.
Him: You like this game too much, you know.
Me: You must not like your face very much.
Drew: I think you've both made your point. Transformers, anyone?

I don't get the "Anders is not gay" thing. I mean, there was that banter with Oghren. "You're quite the dirty little dwarf..." XD
And other, serious factors.
Also, Drew sounds awesome.

And don't get me wrong. Drew and I get into our fair share of arguments. We disagree over Merrill, Aveline, blood magic in general. Like, he thinks that blood magic could be useful, while I told him it clearly says in the guide that there's no way to do it with good intentions.
