Hmmm... theoretical question:

If there was a way to remove Justice from Anders (without damaging him through the removal), but it was through a blood magic ritual that requires Justice to be placed inside a host with a strong bond with Anders (friendship, rivalry or romance) and both the spirit and the new host would be totally destroyed;

1) Would you do it?
and 2) Would it be Hawke, or another character (like murdering Fenris or Sebastian, both of whom despise Anders)

Taking this scenario and placing it with my canon Hawke, I wouldn't do it. She was a Berserker, which seems like a bad combo with a spirit already corrupted by anger in case things went wrong.  As much as she might want to help Anders, this just doesn't seem like the right way (especially since she wants to help Justice as well, and not just Anders). Also, she was friends with Fenris and- at one point- Sebastian.

EDIT1: Also wouldn't do it because it sounds in game like unpossessing him would just open him to getting possessed again. So, he might even become something much worse, which would sort of defeat the point.

EDIT2: ohgodohgod TOP!

Oh God...the FictionAlley Ship threads were MONSTROUS I tell you. The sheer amount of HATE that I saw from that fandom was staggering.

*cackles* I loved FA. Nothing funnier than being in a debate about how Lily Potter was a Sue. (Then the debates about Ginny that lead to debats about H/G, which always dragged H/Hr into it).

Good times, good times.

Well....She was :bandit:  *runs away giggling maniacally*

Bethany goosing Anders, for your pleasure...I will never stop posting this picture.

In fact, THAT thought makes me cringe....>.>
The hate sex must be awesome, and I'll enjoy the eye-candy, but I just can't....eh.

I'm pretty tolerant of crack or pairings that make no sense in canon; I did spend four years of my life moderating and beta-ing in the Harry Potter fandom at the height of its crazy, it was kinda necessary.  And as long as people are willing to keep their fanon fanon, it's all cool.  One of my favorite pairings was Sirius/Remus, after all.

The only thing that bothers me is when people insist that their particular pet pairing has SUPPORT IN CANON ZOMG when it really makes no sense whatsoever.  And none of the Fenders folks do that, so it's all good, and we can enjoy the delicious, delicious eye-candy.

Yeah...FA was where I beta'd.  I saw the fallout of Half-Blood Prince firsthand between the Harry/Hermione and Ron/Hermione shippers.  And after that, I declared, "NEVER AGAIN" and peaced out.

I suppose the nice thing about video games is that you can ship your PC with whomever you please.

Btw, silver-crescent, thank you for asking your question of Ms. Hepler and for sharing her response. It gave me a lot of insight into Anders' character.

I am particularly intrigued by the part where she says he feels everything more strongly, both love and hate. It makes some of his more...unlikeable aspects easier to understand (if not more likeable).

Harry Potter fandom is way too deep. I just read the books and watched the movies and that was it. I'm scared to even go there.

As a big fan of the k!meme, I have no problem with non-canon pairings, regardless of their ridiculousness, but Fenders just hits my squick switch (try saying that three times fast lol). Ah, well. While others enjoy themselves some Fenders, I'll just go read more hilarious Seb crack.

Ah... reminds me of some of the shipping wars that occured between me and two other girls over Vampire Knight pairings...

And the Zev vs. Alistair argument...
1 - At least Zevran has backbone!!!
1 - Alistair is totally sweeter! Zevran's a ****!!!
Me - Alistair's sweet, Zevran's a ****, and they're totally having hot sweaty mansex with Nathaniel and Anders.
1 & 2 - >
Me - *trollface* :D

Wow. Must've been tough. It was bad enough just participating in the threads.

And good lord the Canon debates.

Yes it is nice. <3

So to me rivalmancing Anders means fighting to keep Anders as a person rather than letting him be subsumed into Vengeance.  It's Anders I love, not Justice and not this demon into which they are both combining.  So I rival him because it's the only way I can still see him in this amalgamation.  And as often as not I grant his wish that I release him from the pain of fighting to stay with me (and, as a side effect, face what his short-sighted decisions have done).

Also this.

Though I let him live instead. It's painful but I'm a sucker for having my fav characters suffer for their decisions. No matter how well intentioned. ^_^

Yeah I really liked reading that. It's a beautiful way to put it, and it makes Anders' ultraromanticness seem very much in character, where otherwise parts of it might just come off as cheesy writing to some.

Not that I minded the ultraromanticness though, I thought it was adorable :P

I do miss the insanity of the HP fandom as the books were being released.  The energy and inertia and sheer crazy of that fandom was unlike anything else I've ever experienced.  But silver-crescent, you probably dodged a bullet not getting into that fandom.  The fanon is its own monster now.

I'm too insanely, rabidly fangirly over HP to have ever gotten into the fandom. I would have been frothing at the mouth arguing over some things. The closest I ever got to HP fandom is reading/writing fanfiction. Oh, and HP midnight release parties. Considering I argued over the pronunciation of Sirius' name with a complete strangerwhile waiting in line, I can only imagine what going into forums etc. would have been like for me.

Actually, Anders is the first fandom I've really jumped into and interacted with other fans. Aw, you guys took my fandom virginity.

Yes! That, and I thought it explained a bit why he can be such a jerk to some of the other characters. He feels things so strongly, that it's probably hard to hold on to the logic behind those emotions. Hence, some of his more hypocritical attitudes.

Now that I think about it, it's the same with me. The power of Fanders conquers all.

I blame my sister for this (I'm not sure it's accurate, but meh. I haven't seen Bill and Ted for about two years now):

Anders: Dude!
Hawke: Dude!
Anders: Dude, I totally made the Chantry explode and stuff.
Hawke: Most righteous, dude!
Anders: Totally, the old dude's reaction was totally bogus though.
Hawke: Dude, I think Meredith is actually a girl.
Anders: Really?
Hawke: Yeah.
Anders: Bogus.

Well, deflowering all that is good and pure in the world is one of the few marketable traits of the Anders fandom

I agree with this. Honestly, that's kind of how I saw Anders from the start in DA2. He seemed to feel things so much stronger than most people.

Also, I too thought his ultraromanticness was adorable. Hawke was a little less excuseable. TIL THE DAY WE DIE!

All of this!

I can't even enjoy Fenders art/ff because it's all so OOC. I don't read much fanfic and, when I do, it's to get more of the characters I love. Unless it's just awesomely hilarious crackfic (*searches for tasmen*), bending a character to make a pairing that would never happen happen pretty much undermines what I'm looking for.

I thought that line was sweet, but the "Noting is more important than love!!!" line during the Questioning Beliefs quest in act 3 did make me cringe a bit.

I cringed when I clicked that option the first time. Had to reload and pick the sandwich option cause.. man, that line caused my head to hurt.
