Hi guys! I had a random question, so Alistair fans call themselves Alistairians, so what are Anders fans?

I am not in here much, but I still love Anders, rivaled or friendly. I can see both sides, and will have both endings. I don't necessarily prefer one over the other, they are both fun to me. I play all my Hawkes differently, just like I did my wardens, so I can make either ending work. I get a lot of "you are doing it wrong" when I discuss him, so I usually just stay off the boards anymore.

And since I haven't contributed much to the Anders squee, here you go. I love this shot so much!

The Friend/Rival debate has been started up again recently, but I think most of the time we agree that while some of us prefer one or the other, both sides have valid points in their favor and there's not a right/wrong way to do it.

Anderstians (like Andrastians only with Anders) seems to be the preferred term for Anders fans (though I liked Fanders better, but oh well).

The answer is Anders AND Justice which probably doesn't help you much, heh. If you're meaning to ask whether Justice was controlling Anders there, then no, he wasn't.

I agree that Justice changes his opinion of Hawke. Doesn't Anders say something to the effect of "I should have trusted you, realised that you would stand by me no matter what".
Hawke following him to whatever end, always there by his side, whilst slowly crumbling to pieces is unbelievably tragic.

I love looking it that way.

I just can't bring myself to rivalmance the guy though. Even if I help most mages, and think it's a good cause he's fighting for but just going about it the wrong way and Hawke is trying to protect him, that still makes me a pawn of the Templars in his eyes? I can't do it.

Oh I have no issues with healthy debate. I have issues with people telling me I play wrong, or being nasty (being called a terrorism supporter) I can't really add to the debate just because I can play either and justify both, and don't prefer one to the other.

and shall we add tragic endings as well that both Anders and Hawke die surrounded by the templars and Sebastian for the sake of "justice" in the rain and still holding hands.....

This is the first romance I loved that wasn't seriously sad. I have been a fan of fluffy romances since well....Beauty and the Beast?

Yeah, Anders is very paranoid, especially in Act 3. It always breaks my heart to hear him accuse Aveline of being a pawn of the templars.

I really wish I could read those two fics, but I actually have issues reading F!Hawke/Anders. Mind you, no problems with people who do love F!Hawke/Anders, it's just not my thing, though I hear really good things about both of those fics.

Of sorts, yes.

Rivalry/Friendship paths differ in the sense whether or not someone prefers to let emotion-by-spirit become fully part of his character, or see it as a more a 'bad influence-emotion' of himself which needs to be 'locked up and guarded'.

I think the most ideal (and not possible in game) would be somewhere in the middle. Locking up only creates outburst (if seen from a pure emotional view), while fully 'merging' makes him think that having feelings of Vengeance is actually correct. I think he needs to learn that Justices/Vengeances feelings are flawed, without locking them up.

The scary and problematic part is mostly that Vengeance can literally take over his character, not that different from how people can loose their grasp on reality when manic.

My guess would be that ultimately, if Anders could  somehow get rid of his anger, he might be more open for other ideas on the Mages issue.

There is great injustice for Mages, that much I agree with him. His extremist convictions (which are clearly fuelled by Vengeance) make it so destructive.

Interesting.  As I've said before, Anders' subconscious anger is the root of his problems.  If he could learn to temper it, Justice may go back to being Justice.

Oh, sorry! I hope my F!Hawke pics didn't upset anyone, wasn't my intention!! I just really can't play a male pc, no matter how hard I try. Was the same in Origins, I only played 1 rush playthrough to marry Anora..D:

Oof, I know what you mean. That's why I never stick my head out of this thread anymore. The debates here can get heated at times but the really nasty stuff almost never shows up here.

It's okay, we'll forgive you.

I'm all about f!Hawke, specially her default preset and name for some reason. Which is funny since it's the first BW game where I have in a while now.

ME- Hated default female preset and name, both had to be changed
DAO- So many mods for that game, I forgot what the orginal presets look like. Always would name my Warden something different. Also couldn't get into female Wardens. I blame their creepy manhands.

I know what you mean, I can't play a game that won't allow me be female. Which is weird, since I love my male Wardens and Hawkes too. I guess I just appreciate a choice.

I admit I really didn't like m!Hawke's voice at first, but it grew on me.

I don't really think it's possible to upset anyone in the Anders thread. We all love eachother here. :3

Everyone has their own idea of which Hawke goes with Anders, which is excellent.

As I said, I've no issues with people who enjoy and love F!Hawke/Anders, it's just not for me. The same goes for people who understand M!Hawke/Anders, but it's not their thing.

But I mean really, there's enough Anders for everyone, right?
