I always thought Malcolm was from the Kirkwall Circle and Carver helped him escape. He was close friends with um, Tobias (?) that mage in the Kirkwall Circle after all.

My understanding was that he was Ferelden, got shoved into the Kirkwall Circle, befriend Tobrius and Carver. Carver helped him escape, he went on to do his mercenary stint, met Leandra, fell in love, eloped, had babies in Ferelden.

It's actually pretty confusing. I honestly have no idea.

All the more reason to have Malcolm content in future DLC. Clear this stuff up.

It also makes me unreasonably happy that he did merc work, since my canon Hawke was a merc her first year in Kirkwall. Really the whole Leandra/Malcolm, Hawke/Anders similarities are getting weird. Deliciously weird.

Too bad Flemeth has already doomed her with that "It gets no easier" crap. I think Anders/Hawke will have to settle for "We'll be hunted, hated. The whole world will be against us!" rather than three adorable moppets and twentysomething years of being pretty damned happy.

And they didn't yet pass gay adoption rights bill in Kirkwall, either, so my Hawke will need to skip the kids anyway.<_<

Anders would so want to adopt kittens. This is now headcanon in the never going to happen 'happily ever after'.

Edit: Also, this latest revelation about Malcolm and Leandra has just reinforced an idea I'm writing now. That codex makes me squee a little bit.

Edit 2: How come the thread only slows down when I have time to read it!? Damn you time zones!
