Oh, that'd end well.

@Dreaming: What about Leliana and Marjolene? Sure it was totally dysfunctional, but most of the relationships in this setting seem to be.
True.
OK, so more happy, stable domestic relationships...
Oh, who am I kidding? This is Bioware we're talking about!
Let's check the list of vaguely normal canon pairings:
Loghain and Rowan - Split up for the good of Fereldan.
Marric and the elven bard girl - Killed her.
Cailan and Anora - planned to dump her for Celene.
Elenor and Bryce - Murdered...
Maric and Rowan seemed to have a good thing going.
And there was Julian and erm, y'know thingy. I'll remember in a minute! They were pretty sweet, if horribly doomed.
(Popped the name in for you, hope you don't mind!)

On a more serious note, do you think Justice really would go apesh*t on Alistair, even though he's not really a Templar?

and if alistair was king, he had helped Kirkwall mages in DAII. that's got to earn him some Mage freedom points. Anders was kind of ok with Thrask in the end after all.

Well, he's not actually a templar (and King Alistair seems willing to help mages) so I doubt he'd set off Justice.
Edit: And on the topic of doomed love in the DA setting... didn't David Gaider mention before that he doesn't believe in happy endings?

To be fair, that's super understandable.
I mean, he'd just done something morally reprehensible in her eyes. Not everyone will give up their views for love. Which, personally, I think is a good thing. Love, I always think, requires a give and take of perspectives. And that was a bit too much take.

Oh Maker, Thrask.
When I heard mages and templars were working together, I felt so hopeful...
And then Grace went batsh*t insane.
One of these playthroughs, I will do the Sebastian; and mardar her.
Alistair and Anders I think would get along.
Alistair has no issues with mages, and I recall the Maleficarum-Chantry banter:
Alistair:
"You know they'll probably never take you. They're very picky about who
they let in. Harlots, murderers, yes. Maleficarum, oh no..."
Leliana: "Your comments betray your ignorance, Alistair. The Chantry accepts all, regardless of what they've done."
Alistair:
"Well, it seems you're familiar with a whole other Chantry, because the
one I know wouldn't hesitate to shove a sword of mercy right through
her heart."

Sort of. I think this is the post you might be thinking of.

It's not that he doesn't believe in happy endings so much as he doesn't believe in the saccharine sweet happily-ever-after-no-strings-attached type of fairytale stuff a lot of people seem to want. Which is pretty reasonable.

Lovely as Gir's singing voice is, I'd rather hear Deekin's doom song.
Doomed, Doomed, We is aaaaall Doooooooomed~!!!
As far as Bioware crossovers go, I want to see Xan meets Deekin.

i think Alistair even says at some point he's not real religious. Act I Anders would probably overlook it and end up at the hangman playing cards with him and Varric, but act III anders would probably just glower a lot at the Templar turned Warden.
