Oh, that'd end well.

Anders:
So you used to be a Warden too, Alistair? I heard you were there when the Arch demon itself fell.
Alistair: I was. And I was, yes. That was all a great deal of time and cheese ago, though.
Anders: Do you ever regret it? Being recruited, I mean. Sometimes I'd wonder where I'd be if I hadn't.
Alistair: Oh, not really. Once you get past the 'doom and gloom' part, it's not so bad. More satisfying than training to be a te-

Alistair: -uuuh. Shoe salesman. Yeh. Training to be a shoe salesman. Not much of a life, let me tell you. All that walking and... shoe selling. Heh, the funny thing is, I had to buy half my shoes myself to replace the worn out with you're not buying this, are you?

We might need both the Warden and Hawke in the party to sort this one out. XD

lmao!!! Every once and a while during DAII i'd have to remind myself that Alistair was a, um..."shoe salesman"  and that not all "shoe salesmen" are evil. :P

I think I love you! The banter really would be to die for.

On a more serious note, do you think Justice really would go apesh*t on Alistair, even though he's not really a Templar?

@Dreaming: What about Leliana and Marjolene? Sure it was totally dysfunctional, but most of the relationships in this setting seem to be.

True.

OK, so more happy, stable domestic relationships...

Oh, who am I kidding? This is Bioware we're talking about!

Let's check the list of vaguely normal canon pairings:
Loghain and Rowan - Split up for the good of Fereldan.
Marric and the elven bard girl  - Killed her.
Cailan and Anora - planned to dump her for Celene.
Elenor and Bryce - Murdered...

Really? This is news to me!

Maric and Rowan seemed to have a good thing going.
And there was Julian and erm, y'know thingy. I'll remember in a minute! They were pretty sweet, if horribly doomed.

(Popped the name in for you, hope you don't mind!)

It's implied, anyway.

Marric had an elf fetish. Rowan was there for convinence. <_<
My canon, I'm sticking to it.

Oh, and Jowan and Lily!
"I will run away with you, and disregard everything taught to me! For love!"
5 mins later
"OMG go away blood mage! I hate you!!!"

and if alistair was king, he had helped Kirkwall mages in DAII. that's got to earn him some Mage freedom points. Anders was kind of ok with Thrask in the end after all.

Well, he's not actually a templar (and King Alistair seems willing to help mages) so I doubt he'd set off Justice.

Edit: And on the topic of doomed love in the DA setting... didn't David Gaider mention before that he doesn't believe in happy endings?

Oh Maker, Thrask. :(
When I heard mages and templars were working together, I felt so hopeful...
And then Grace went batsh*t insane.
One of these playthroughs, I will do the Sebastian; and mardar her.

Alistair and Anders I think would get along.
Alistair has no issues with mages, and I recall the Maleficarum-Chantry banter:

Alistair: "You know they'll probably never take you. They're very picky about who they let in. Harlots, murderers, yes. Maleficarum, oh no..."
Leliana: "Your comments betray your ignorance, Alistair. The Chantry accepts all, regardless of what they've done."
Alistair: "Well, it seems you're familiar with a whole other Chantry, because the one I know wouldn't hesitate to shove a sword of mercy right through her heart."

Made me think of Anders, for some reason.

To be fair, that's super understandable.

I mean, he'd just done something morally reprehensible in her eyes. Not everyone will give up their views for love. Which, personally, I think is a good thing. Love, I always think, requires a give and take of perspectives. And that was a bit too much take.

Sort of. I think this is the post you might be thinking of.

http://social.biowar...900390/2#909734

It's not that he doesn't believe in happy endings so much as he doesn't believe in the saccharine sweet happily-ever-after-no-strings-attached type of fairytale stuff a lot of people seem to want. Which is pretty reasonable.

i would mardar her, rez her, then mardar her again for good measure <_<

and i'm so mad at how that whole thing turned out! When i got the quest i was all "Sweet! where do i sign up?" and then it was just a mage/templar kill fest :(

It's actually only implied. In the Return to Ostagar DLC, you find some letters for Maric from Celene and she's rather friendly to him. I think Loghain throws a hissy fit about it if you bring him along though.

I believe he did. This has been my inspiration for a few horribly angst post game Anders fics.
Bioware feeds on our tears. Tru fax.

Well, I was actually thinking of this post...

Regarding Cailan leaving Anora, it's hinted at in Return to Ostagar, and according to Cailan's DA wiki page, Gaider confirmed it in an interview (there's a link over there).

Lovely as Gir's singing voice is, I'd rather hear Deekin's doom song.

Doomed, Doomed, We is aaaaall Doooooooomed~!!!

As far as Bioware crossovers go, I want to see Xan meets Deekin.

i think Alistair even says at some point he's not real religious. Act I Anders would probably overlook it and end up at the hangman playing cards with him and Varric, but act III anders would probably just glower a lot at the Templar turned Warden.

Nope, they were actually quite cordial when I took Anders with Margaret for her audience with the King.

I'm sure Alistair and Anders would get along just fine. Or they probably wouldn't start killing each other, anyway.

Oh, one more.

Anders: I recognise you. From the Circle. You used to tutor me and the other apprentices from time to time.
Wynne: Silence your tongue, monster. I do not converse with abominations.
Anders: And here I thought you might understand. Your situation is not so different.
Wynne: Understand? You murder innocents without a second thought. Do not presume to compare us.
Anders: So no chance of a quick game of 'who's got the best spirit inside them', then.
Wynne: Jest if you wish. Deep down you must know the horror you have become.
Anders: Huh. I didn't realise there were spirits of preaching.

I wonder who actually would get along in that bunch. Zevran and Varric? Varric and Oghren too I imagine, once he'd stopped making fun of his lack of beard. Everybody loves Varric eventually.

Sadly this is probably true.

I so wanted them to be Amaranthine snark buddies. Alas, it was not to be.
