I imagine Anders is destined for a bloody end sooner rather than his Calling later. He still has ~20 years before he has to go to the Deep Roads, and I can't imagine the lifespan of a renegade mage terrorist during a time of war is exactly lengthy.

Hahaha. Well, I understand at least. While I was working on the animation, I was all, "Awww, chibi Justice is adorable." Then I had to think of something cute for him to do instead of zapping Templars or something.

What are you talking about? Surely a renegade mage terrorist who may or may not be somewhat to very insane and is hunted by damn near everyone will live long enough to go even more insane and wander off into the deep dark to be killed by monsters.

To be honest, I'm half-expecting a painfully mundane death, something like hypothermia, or ergot poisoning (it's a fungus, can grow on rye bread.)

I'm so not in favor of killing him at any other time (I wrote a diatribe against suicide by Hawke yesterday) but the rite of tranquility is just so extreme I think it's the one exception. I don't know whether the tranquil have free will or such anymore. Regardless this seems to be a situation that calls for some kind of living will. And considering Anders' reaction to Karl, I think we know what his choice would be.

I agree. If Justice coming out can temporarily unTranquil Karl,  I don't see how Anders- who always has Justice inside of him- could be made Tranquil.

philosophically speaking they have more free will; they are unbound by preferences or emotions (which govern our choices even when we don't realise it).

My personal theory is that the missing is all on Flemeth and has little to do with Hawke and/or her LI's personal whims.

Does anyone have a good idea when the Warden goes missing? Is it at the same time as Hawke? Any Warden that left with Morrigan obviously would disappear earlier, but what about others? The Awakening epilogues seemed to suggest the Warden vanished only a couple years later. However, at least in the case of my Warden who married Alistair, she seemed so still be around as of Act 3.

It would seem more like the two disappearances are connected if they happened at roughly the same time. And to bring this back to Anders... um... it still leaves me questioning why my Warden wasn't around when everything went down with him prior to DA2.

And King Alistair in Act 3 says he's going home to the Hero of Fereldan.  So as of Act 3, The Warden's still around.

Finally catching back up with this thread.

On the topic about Hawke disappearing- I also think Felmeth is involved again. Or Hawke and Anders are up to something with the Warden, but that is more wishful thinking on my part. My Warden would just give Anders a highfive over killing Elthina.

Thankfully I can write to fullfil my canon desire if DA3 ends up working in a completely different way. Now if only I could stop trying to avoid writing today... <_<

Yeah, I meant as a mage, at least and apart from Flemeth abducting him. It doesn't have to be during the war (if there is one). After the mage insurrection is over and they've won most of their freedom. It could be another possibility.

Even though I don't have a mage Hawke yet, I kind of want to get the DLC just to give that staff to Anders. I would lol endlessly at him thumping that staff before he Jengas the Chantry. It also makes me imagine Orsino, Meredith, and everybody else staring at the staff, completely entranced and not even listening to what Anders is saying.

For some reason, whenever I see that mod, I imgine him as a **** in an Indiana Jones film. Appropriate, I think, as it also has this effect on me.

Aside from the terror factor, I would think some of these mods would make the game really... surreal. Like, companions would talk about things that would no longer be true. Varric would still call a black haired Anders "Blondie," Isabela would comment on Aveline's red hair, even if it was no longer red, and Fenris would keep complaining about tattoos... that he apparently doesn't have.
