I was under the impression that the mouse you meet the second time around was just some random dreamer. Or a Circle mage Yvyna had trapped. After all, Niall tells you there are "many such" (shapeshifted people) when you mention running into him.

As far as I remember, that's the case... I'm just saying, if according to the theory, it was mouse, and he seemed to die, perhaps that's his plan...

Why would they need to make more then one demon that can turn into a mouse? A more logical explination is thus:

Mouse warns you that Sloth is very powerful and dangerous. The only reason he doesn't bother to attack is because he's currently disintrested -- Sloth tells you as much.

Later on, at the circle tower, sloth has been placed inside a mage's body, and now he's not disintrested ;p

Mouse is a pride demon, yes, but just because pride demons in general are powerful, doesn't mean this one in particular is very tough. He's been feeding mage initiates to a rage demon, as per the conversation about how he was to weak to do it himself and needed the help.

Thus, mouse is a-not-as-powerful-as-he-could-be pride demon, who gets slaughtered by sloth (or any other number of the lesser demons helping him). You encounter him and he's all "OMG I'm dieing. Here. Turn into a mouse and get that SOB for me. Thx."


SEE, perfectly logical.

All the shapeshifted forms are mortal dreamers trapped by sloth. Mouse is a dreamer not the pride demon from the origin. If you look at the quest thingy on the map it says "dreamer" I believe. 

Also Pride demons are the top of the power hierarchy. Just because the rage demon says Mouse feeds him initiates doesn't mean that it's not done as part of a plan. The Pride demon is there to decieve you in the mage origin, the whole thing about fighting a demon is not the true test and I get the impression that both the rage demon and sloth demon are there as Mouse's underlings helping him with the deception.

Seriously, Anders/m!Hawke is just about my favorite pairing in existence. I keep saying I'll romance Fenris. I get as far as first scene in the manor. Then he leaves, Anders is adorable, and suddenly I'm shacking up with the mage again.

Well, there was the Fade Beast in the Deep Roads that was part of the Asunder quest line. It shared the same model as the pride demons, but I'm not sure if it was explicitly one or not.

Eh..while the Fade Beast in the "Asunder" quest has the same model as a Pride Demon, he only gave you gold if you let him go rather then kill him.

So nope only desire demons..

Mmm, sort of. There's one in the Deep Roads that you can either release (for a financial reward) or destroy (for, I don't know. Justice, or something. Boo, demons). It's never referred to as a pride demon, mind you. It looks like one, but might not be, for all I know.

I think you can strike a bargain with one in the Blackmarsh in Awakenings, in order to escape from the fade. I've never done it myself, though.

All he gave you was money though...that's kind of lame. :/ What kind of lame pride demon gives gold as a reward?   You should've gotten a specialization, some mythical weapon (that's OP'd) or...something. It's like those 5 sovereigns Danarius gives you for handing Fenris over. What the heck do I need that for?
