I'm not sure if the war Anders fueled would've created some exceedingly disastrous and alarming results. It's pretty clear that for 1 nutcase such as Meredith, there's a levelhead one like Cullen to counterbalance. The mage insurrection would last for several years, but I could see both templars and mages alike coming to an agreement. I'd like to believe that what he did was ultimately the best solution.
I'm not sure it was the best solution... I can see the argument for it leading to the best path, but i also have a protective flair when it comes at the price of an innocent that i can't shake. But it's the chantry and their text that drives the opression of mages in that world, so i can see a case for striking at the heart of it.

Just the typical "he's whiny!" comments everywhere. Same with Kaidan.
My favorite characters in this game (besides Varric) are Carver, Anders, and Fenris. All of whom are accused of being whiny.
I loved that group! I think i just liked to hear them all argue. Though carver Joining the templars felt like a huge betrayal and i'm still a bit mad at him.

LOL, me too.
I think I am just doomed to always love the characters that the fandom hates the most. Kaidan, Alistair, Carver, Anders... (Um. They also just happen to be the sexy, sexy human male characters.)
Throw in a couple elves and a turian in there and I'm with you. Seriously... whiny? Call him for what he is! A sexy raving loon!
And just to gush a little further... When you turn on Panacea... that motion? Gold.

Are you talking about the animation where he sort of touches his hand to his forehead? The mage animations are SO SEXY in DA2. It's ridiculous. I love watching Anders in action.

I probably should've said that his actions would've been for the best. It might've not been the most morally sound method of dealing with the problem, but the more I thought about it, the templars/Chantry weren't willing to back down. Not without the grand cleric's intervention (which never happened, btw). It drove him to commit the crime of killing innocents, but with the intention of saving many more lives. Coupled with the fact that those very same oppressors threatenined to drive his people to extinction, I'd say he's reached the breaking point and there was no turning back.

Ya'know, I didn't like Carver much at first, but there was a line after doing Fenris' recruitment quest where Carver was all "If you have a problem with my sister, then you have a problem with me." and then I felt like my Hawke had been a terrible older sister and started being nicer to him. Then he ended up with the Wardens.
Although I do wish ya could keep the sibling longer, having LI vs sibling banter could have so much hilarious potential.

I think that's one of the issues I had with Grand Cleric Elthina - I liked her, but I kept wanting to shout at her. "INTERVENE. PLEASE INTERVENE. THIS IS NEVER GOING TO SORT ITSELF OUT -"
And then she would stroll calmly off.

Is it just me, or are all the characters using the actions of a few to justify the whole? Meredith was justified in what she was doing but also needs to let the mages catch a break every once in a while. Anders was being just like her when he destroyed the chantry. An act that shouldn't be forgiven.
Sebastian was the only character with good sense. "Why are we arguing about the Rite of Annulment when the monster who did this is right in front of us?"
Just give Anders a grandiose public execution and you'll be alright.

That line literaly saved his character for me. i was all "He does care!"

I actually do think will turn out for the best. I've been wanting a mage revolution since the first game
EDIT: well, so long as it doesn't pendulum swing into something like Tevinter

@Naamah_bb I'm getting even more flak as a fan because I actually think what Anders did WAS justified in the world he was in. That's an unpopular opinion even among Anders fans. I don't condone terrorism in the modern world, but in this case I truly believe there were no other options.
I'm TOTALLY there with you. *high five*
I've been arguing with my friend all day about this, and he brings up MLK and women's right movements comparisons. Obviously, this would be terrorism in the real world, but in Thedas, it makes sense. I'm proud of Anders...there- I said it!

???
Mind telling me what happened? I don't mean to pry.
Edit: Bah ignore my nosy self.
On topic: Anders' neck...
I can't stop myself from rivalmancing him because he's so sexy when he's angry. And that puppy look when he's trying to convince Hawke to see his point of view is just lovely.
