I always figured that was less out of pride and more out of- with Justice- that's most of what he exists as anymore. It's his identity now. He's given up what other life he might have had so that he could embody the cause that he cares so much about.

I guess being free - possibly to have never been taken from his parents as a child, possibly having a family and children with Hawke -  magically gifted children he can bring up proud and free. 
And if we remember he is still a man and therefore has weaknesses and desires - maybe he'd be tempted by the idea of being separated from Justice and free to run away with Hawke and have a family the same way her parents did. Being so involved with his cause ended up making him a slave of sorts, and his slaver lives inside of him.

Well, with the way he talks in Act II, I think Desire would be him being tempted by Hawke

Pride would probably be something like being known for saving the mages? He doesn't seem to be that prideful a person in DA2.....

it was kind of a justice-ish thing to say. it it goes part and parcel with "i don't want to see you lose yourself to the templars" "if you remove those than what is left?" (paraphrased)

he doesn't see himself as anything more than what he does

OK, there seems to be some confusion about Man-Giraffe-Dog on the forums, notably that it just looks like a Giraffe-Dog. Well... that's the POINT. Why do you think I'm the only one warning you. It's disguised as a Giraffe-Dog until it's ready to take over the world.
OK this is how Man-Giraffe-Dog came to be:


While growing up it was spotted in the wild (but the team was all killed by it and the photos were recovered afterwards)


After which it began its infiltration of humanity, disguised as Giraffe-Dog:


Which leaves us here. Man-Giraffe-Dog is poised to attack and destroy humanity and I'm trying to warn everyone before it's too late. This is totally serial guys. You need to prepare.

Hahaha. I like that Varric doesn't care at all. He truly only has eyes for Bianca. Poor real!Hawke. Also, crabs made me snerk.

I would love to see this in game. Take Anders into the Fade and get the Desire demon to try a little harder.
