Is there no lovey dovey scene with Anders in Act II of you have romanced him throughout the whole game and always sided with mages? During Questions annd Beliefs I could even flirt and he didnt show up at my house... Hmmmr.. boring.
If I remember correctly there where two scenes with Fenris...

The love scene is one even for Fenris.
You might be confused because you complete A Bitter Pill at Hawke's Estate. Then dependign on your dialogue choice and level of friend/rival you can activate then the love scene or save it for later returning to the Esatete at night. (And the kiss changes too, it is kinda cool).

Nope, if you killed him in DAII he's dead.  I think DG said so somewhere on here but I can't find the post.  But yeah, he's dead.  No second (third?) coming for Anders.

Probably because both Anders and Justice are well aware that what they did is wrong, and consider repaying the act with their lives as justice for those they killed.

Like the banter with Izzy that went something like this:
Anders: There isn't a single person in Kirkwall I wouldn't kill to see mages free.
Izzy: But don't those people deserve justice too?
Anders: Yes.

I take it as Anders having experience with both men and women and acknowledging that sometimes they react to the same thing in different ways? It seems less "I am man must protect woman" and more...sensitive to other people that way.

There's something about the way Anders says the 'most men aren't so open...." line that made me think he's attempted to express interest to other men, but was often met with disheartening rejections (minus the prospect of being an abomination, for example). After all, most of Thedas still hold a relatively conventional view of sexuality. It's not like he can rely on his gaydar alone. How's he supposed to know if a man is interested in him? Maybe he's quicker to jump at the opportunity with m!Hawke only because he's bemused by the idea of a guy who finally returns his feelings? To be fair, his m/m relationship isn't purely physical. It may seem that way in the beginning, but intense and tumultuous emotions are involved too. Around the end of Act 2 and all throughout Act 3, it begins to closely resemble his m/f romance from Act 1.

As for the protecting part? He has that mindset regardless of gender. It matters not whether your Hawke can crack someone's skull with his/her bare hands. Anders nonetheless takes it upon himself to protect you. It's a laudable gesture, but I'm sure my Hawke can handle himself and would more than likely to do the same for him.

Analyzing individual people using neuroscience is easy: "There's a lot of stuff going on. This may be influencing that, but it may also be this, this or this. Ultimately, there are too many confounding variables for us to ever truely know what the ultimate cause is, if there even is one, it may just be a bidirectional relationship. Of course this is provided the symptoms you've described are, in fact, accurate."

LAWL :D

Story of my last four years of neuro right here!  And yes, I'm sure spirit possession just makes it that much more troublesome :P

Ya, I did 4 years of Neuroscience/Child Development. Most of the people in my program agreed that we just did 4 years of "Interesting Questions with Few to No Answers."

Although with Anders you can probably write a lot of it off as "Spirit Influence." Not that they have any treatment for that.

So... I'm writing a fanfic that has Anders in it and I went back to reread the DA2 intro to Anders again and came across a line that made me think about all the people who killed Anders near the end of DA2. Here's the line from the story that made me second guess that it's really possible.

"And then his sword is level with my chest, and I let it come, because it is only steel and cannot hurt me, for I am not of mortal men. And when it sinks hilt-deep in my flesh with no reaction, that's when he gives up"

You've probably all talked about it before but I'm slow and it just occured to me that according to this Anders most likely isn't dead, because... well the above. Heh. Crazy thought.

Word of God confirmed if you killed him he stays dead.

"You Fereldens are so finicky!"

Zevran may have a point. Both Zev, Izzy and Leliana were from outside of Ferelden... I get the impression Fereldan is far more conservative when it comes to relationships - especially homosexual relationships.

Not that it stopped Anders flirting with Nate. *shot*

Anders end Game killed by Hawke:

Ah yes because the little knife in the back is so much more deadly than being run through by a sword. Yep makes no sense, but whatever. LOL.

Too bad I don't know exactly what David Gaider said but...

At least the person who said they thought it might be because he felt he should die and then did makes more sense than just saying your Hawke is more capable of killing him than a grey warden *smirks*

Well, the thing is they can't simply negate such an important choice in the endgame.
So yes, the murderknife beats the sword of the shortstory. We can even add, as many said, that he wanted to die and Vengeance/Justice didn't protect him.
That said, I really don't want to imagine a zombie-Anders controlled by Vengeance. Because if Gaider said that Anders is dead, he didn't mention Justice as far as I remember, I hope it wasn't a twisted way to leave open to door for Vengeance return...

Google saved me, here is Gaider's post about Anders

Oh come on! Surely we have suffered enough, and Bioware will take pity on us and not unload a ****-load of angst and misery on us like that!

Varric: She said sarcastically.

(We wouldn't want that, anyway. Moar angst!)

Right it's not like they haven't already done so to the ones who have had characters killed off in their playthroughs. Oh wait. nvm *smirks*

I like that idea if you do kill Anders.
At the very least I would like to talk to Justice/Vengeance again at some point, corpse haunting or no.

BioWare knows pity the way Vengence knows mercy. It's an abstract concept that they don't need.

Haha, I liked that quote. I forgot to which response he says that to, but I always went with, "you think I'm handsome do you?" Man, I kinda missed the (mostly) light-heartedness of Zevran's romance. He sure knew how to flatter a guy =)

And true. Antiva and Orlais seem pretty loose when it comes to exploring the different spectrums of sexuality. They even consider it a quirk. The Anderfels might be one of the worst offenders though. It sounds like a highly conservative country to me. Sparsely populated and barren.

(Please, Anders was definitely flirting with Nate. I was half expecting them to mention a one night stand when they met again lol)

Because from my experience with characters-who-should-be-dead-but-aren't, and because it's the Anders thread, I have the urge to say something both profound and related to the current topic:

Zombie-necroboners!

(Now available in Wynne, Leliana, Zevran, Nathaniel, Anders, and Justice/Vengeance flavours)

I never really had an interest in Justice when I played Awakenings, but once I found out him and Anders merged it made me want to pay very close attention to him the next time around which will probably not be for another 80 to 100 playthrough hours from now. LOL.

How old is Anders when we meet him at the clinic? In my mind he's at least 5yrs older, but probably more. Which is part of the reason (in my head) that he pushes her away so firmly. He can probably see a bit of his younger self on her and just thinks that she's not prepared for all his baggage.

On a side note, when you've been rejected by Anders and run off for some Fenris, at which point do you let Anders seduce you? It took me a few reloads before I could find somewhere that felt natural. I opted for after her mother dies and Fenris gives you the sensible advice. I had my lady Hawke completely freaking out afterwards and blaming herself and Fenris didn't even hug her! So off she went adventuring and then fell into Anders arms... *le sigh*

With this voice and tone, I still wonder how people didn't see it. Really. He is purring.

It was actually in response to Alistair and "giving him advice".

But he does seem exasperated with a lot of Ferelden and its sexual culture. XD
"Magical-bosom" anybody?

We all miss Zev. I'm kinda jealous of my Warden...<_<

I'd love to see the Anderfels, it sounds like my personal worst nightmare.

I half expected this banter:
Nate: Anders! You left me for that ****!? :crying:
Hawke:
Anders: *trying very hard to dissapear*

Well I guess you can take it that way but I've heard plenty of men talk with sexual innuendo to other men without wanting or expecting to get in their pants. LOL.

Funny thing, I used to believe Anders was early-mid twenties in DAA and at the start of DA2. Suddenly thanks to this thread and the kinkmeme he's aged several years for me, in fact I didn't even realize this until about a few days ago when I was pondering his age over. I see him being 28-29ish at the start of DA2 now.

Based on the DA timeline I would say Anders is only a year older than he was in Awakening.  Maybe less since the Blight ended during the year Hawke was in servitude.  So Awakening would happen and then Anders would go to Kirkwall almost immediately following that since Hawke would meet Anders at most a year fromt eh end of the Blight.  At least that's my impression.

Just have sex already!XD

Not to break anybody's brains (she lied)... but remember Oghren?
You're quite the dirty little dwarf
And you're quite the dirty little mage

(Sadly, the Commander refused to let them found that club.)

Also, clearly Nathaniel has no experience with templars.

Just curious.........

How old do you make your Hawke compared to Anders? How old is Anders supposed to be? I always place my Hawke around 24 or 25 and Anders in his early 30s.
