Anders and my Hawke have about an 8 year age difference between them, give or take a year or two.

I put my Hawke at 22 during the prologue, 23 when he and Anders first meet. This thread has also convinced me Anders is around 29-30 during that first year too.

*Drools* Older men.

Since we're on the topic of Anders purring at Nate.

I usually put Anders at 26 or 27 in act I and my Hawke would be 22 almost 23 when they meet.

I place Anders in his mid/late-twenties, according to Awakening.
In the year between the two games, I'd estimate stress made him look older than he is.

How old is Finn? Finn mentions Anders right? So they have to be near the same age. I would think he's very close to Leliana in age. One of my Hawkes I played as 21 and the others a bit older than that. You can make Anders say "Don't threaten me boy!" so there is definately an obvious age gape between them.

Hawke is between 19 and 24 at the beginning. 
Leandra and Malcolm ran away from Kirkwall 24 years before the prologue (in year 1 Gamlen makes a reference to Leandra being gone for 25 years).
Bethany and Carver at 18 at the time of the prologue and Hawke is older.

Personally, I have my Hawke as 21 during the prologue, and 22 when she first meets Anders, who is 29-30ish. So a 7 or 8 year age difference.

Well of course it is based on interpretation, I was half joking (though the tone is highly allusive for me...).
Hm...I've heard plenty of men talk with sexual innuendo to women just for the fun of it, without any real intentions, but I've never seen it between men. I don't know, the people I know is shy probably. Still, I think it is easier to make jokes and innuendos with a person of the opposite sex. 
But after all Anders liked to ****** off Nate, so it might be just that and he was having some fun. While Nate is still being so stoic and serious, spoilsport  
(I still stick to my idea that he was purring to Nate though, totally flirting)

Yeah, I have never really heard flirting in that line of Anders. Teasing? Yes. I get the impression Anders sees Nathaniel as being pretty straight-laced and staid and he says his line like that because it's meant to deflect, annoy and unnerve, him not titillate at all. He doesn't want to be asked those sorts of questions and, by being a git, he can perhaps prevent it from happening again.

I'm not saying he could totally want Nathaniel, I just think the reading of that line is really enough to base an entire relationship on. Since that's pretty much the ONLY thing to point towards Nathaniel/Anders (considering the amount of dialogue given to Nathaniel to "court" Velanna and the amount of dialogue given to Anders to shamelessly flirt with everything) just isn't enough to make me even think they're even remotely into each other like that or ever would be.

Brothers in arms and all that tend to make tongue's a bit loose. Of course snarky flirty Hawke takes the cake with that. I keep picturing the people within ear shot shaking their heads at my parties chatter. Ohho is that why Meredith doesn't trust me? Dang. I gotta work on that. I thought it was just because I choose my friends poorly. No offense Anders.

I always put my Hawkes around 21 - 22, maybe 23 at the oldest. They have to be older than 18 and younger than 25 (unless Leandra ran off while preganant) (In the beginning of the game anyways). Anders is about early 30s to me too.

I always figured he was doing it just; to mess with Nate, since the guy's so serious all of the time. Nate does the exact same thing to Oghren, in one of his rare funny moments.

And I agree with your point about the gaydar. Wade and Herren, yes. Nate, no.

I miss Wade and Herren...

Well if Leandra left 25 years ago and she was let's say 20 that makes her 45 and means that Elthina could be 18 years or more older let's say 20 because that would make her 65. Does Elthina appear that age? She's looks a bit older than my parents who are a tad younger than her. Not that it means much in Thedas but it's a good way to look at it. My dad is still climbing mountains. LOL

They all seem to enjoy messing with each other. Nate's a bit quiet at first but he warms up to it. He throws right down with Anders in the deep roads. The best part of seeing Alistair in DA2 is his and Anders comments to each other

I don't think Anders is *that* old in Awakening. 26 tops. Like I said before, he's pretty much in between Alistair (21/22) and Nathaniel (30) as far as how he looks and comes across to me. Also, when DG shot down him being Duncan's son w. random Circle mage, he said "a bit too old." Were he in his 30's, I imagine he'd have used a more substantial qualifier than "bit".

I missed this bit O_O Leandra, as Gamlen said, didn't age so well though xD
If we place Hawke between 20 and 25, Leandra might easily be around 50...let's say Elthina had to be around 20 to held Leandra when she was a baby? I'd place her around 70 years or so

Regarding Leandra and Malcolm, I always kinda pictured her as being younger, like 18-20 because she's a noble and only just engaged, and really sheltered, so when the dashing mercenary apostate wanders into her life she's all starstruck and whatnot. I see Malcolm as being a bit older, he had to have time to escape the Gallows and adventure for a bit before coming back to Kirkwall, so I'm going to say 25-30ish. But that's just what happens in my head.

guys offer each other "favours" all the time; usually for doing something like the dishes. it's never serious though. and often between flatmates in my experience - i guess they're more comfortable with each other.

Same here. To each his own, I guess. It's plausible, but I can understand why others would interpret it differently. Anders does ask Delilah if Nate's found a sense of humor yet. He could be just trying to get a rise out of him. Still, I wouldn't remove the possibility of attraction there (at least on Anders' part).

And I agree about Anders being 26 at best in Awakening. He's a little, I don't know, immature and youthful to be way older than that. His carefree attitude towards life reminds me of many people in their early/mid 20s. Someone who doesn't have the prospect of settling down and building a new life just yet. That's why I believe he's 28 or so at the start of DA2.

That...doesn't mesh with the timeline well though. 

Anders was a warden and all so that means if he's 26 during awakening the oldest he could be at the start of DA2 (if we ignore the prologue) is 27 (and that's assuming his birthday has past.)

Right? 

Or am I just being dense again? *is confused now* 

Oh god I hate the DA timeline. 

...It took the hero of Fereldan a year to defeat the blight. (And apparently Awakening had to happen within that year otherwise Anders being a warden makes no sense) so...

I'm confused again.
