Oh god, Howl!Anders....as if I didn't love either of those boys enough on their own! XD
I really really do not like the idea of being able to force Anders to side with the templars. His entire purpose in the game is essentially to support the mages. Merrill I can understand supporting templars because she's just pro-elf. Fenris I can get helping the mages - but my only playthrough has been mage!Hawke, so that makes sense to me (mage!Hawke is his first friend and a mage and it makes sense that she could get his help - he's not turning on her!).
But Anders...if he can't stop Justice from blowing up the chantry to save mages or whatever, how the hell can he stop Justice tearing Hawke a new one for making Anders kill mages? I mean, yes, everyone in Kirkwall is a blood mage and you do end up killing most of them regardless of which side you pick, but I really can't see Anders volunteering to support templars. Hell, even DAA Anders would have trouble helping templars!
There's just some things characters cannot or at least should not accept. Wynne won't allow the violation of the Ashes. Alistair will never accept Loghain as a brother Warden. And Anders should never fight against the mages.
But that's just my opinion XD Half caused by the fact its past midnight here and I really should be sleeping!
I wonder if some of the reason for allowing Anders to side with the templars is because some people were furious with Alistair for putting his foot down about Loghain. I DON"T UNDERSTAND WHY HE"S NOT COOL WITH ME SPARING LOGHAIN, GUYS.

I could understand being mad about Alistair leaving Ferelden instead of fighting the Blight, but him wanting Loghain dead and definitely not in the Wardens shouldn't be a surprise.
I mean, that's kind of a lame reason, but it's the only one I can think of right now. Maybe it will make more sense when we can see the entire rivalry ending.
Just did Anders' personal quest in Awakening the other day. I love it. Rylock thinks the templars can overrule the Wardens and is dumb enough to go after Anders despite a) the ruling monarch agreeing to the Conscription and

the fact that taking Anders would require going through the Warden Commander and at least two other people, all armed to the teeth.

Plus she looks weird. Her eyes are huge.
EDIT: Confirmation of
Story DLC in the future.
