To be honest, I don't think spirits should leave the Fade at all. Their world is completely opposite to the physical mortal world.

While the Fade is an ever changing world of ideas, with inhabitants consisting of once fixed ideal/emotion,
The Physical world is static, while it's inhabitants have a myriad of moods and ideals, and are always changing and evolving as people...

And the physical world changes ideas...

So yeah.
I wonder if there's a spirit for all seven cardinal virtues and sins?
Like:
Demons - Spirit
Pride - Humility
Avarice - Generosity
Envy - Love
Wrath - Compassion
Lust - Self-control
Gluttony - Temperance
Sloth - Zeal

I'm not saying that these would be each other's opposites, just wondering if they exist as spirits.

I'd like to meet a neutral, more complex spirit. I wonder if they exist?

I think it's quite likely there are spirits to "match" some of the demons, but I don't think they fit the seven cardinal virtues if only because Valor and Justice, who we know to be spirits, aren't on that list. Or maybe they don't match at all since Justice is corrupted into Vengeance and not, say, Rage (an already known demon type).

True, I was just thinking that Anders said that while there are Demons who emulate the darker side of human/elven nature, there are also "benevolent" spirits that show our virtues.

Maybe the sins and virtues are more like categories that spirits fall under?

anders; demon of lust ^_^

excuse me just a moment...

lol; now i totally want a desire demon spliced into anders's love scene

There's no reason to splice in a desire demon when Anders is there. He already fills that role quite nicely.

even better idea... splice anders into every desire demons slot!!!!  see him run his hands up, down and everywhere...

Stop it you two! You're giving me the most wonderfuly terrible sexy mind-images!

LOL!  If I knew how to mod that, I sooo would!

...and this thread has slowed down again. (The day it stops altogether is the day the world ends)

It's never good when that happens, I get the urge to write angsty fanfiction...
Any suggestions for a plot where Hawke and Anders go down into the deep roads again? I don't know how to get them down there...

Well, that might explain how Feynriel would be made Tranquil but not someone else, but it doesn't really touch on how someone could be physically present, body, mind, and soul, in the Fade and yet "wake up" unharmed in their physical body if they're pseudo-killed while there.  After all, it's not like they're creating body duplicates to step into the Fade this way.  Although I suppose it could be said that a Fade death isn't a true death, and it just means that the body of the 'slain' person is simply transported back to the physical realm...but that just sounds like the cop-out that it is, lol.

When is it ever said they were physically in the Fade?

They're not. When you enter the Fade, it's your spirit, like astral projection.

This^ Case in point, Niall in DAO, he was kept in the fade but the sloth demon was using his  life force to power his dreams and domain. His body died while he was stuck in the fade.

It's been awhile since I played that quest.  Will definitely have to re-play it now.  But I thought that Marethari said something about somniari being able to pull people physically into the Fade while awake, and that that's what happened with Hawke and friends?

He's grumpy with Elthina because she won't take sides, not because she was the one who did stuff to him. I suppose he could be objectively blaming the chantry as an institution for allowing what was done to him to be done to him, but that's a little removed for Vengeance. I always thought of Vengeance as more personal - "You did this to me so I'll do it back to you" not "you're a representation of the institution that allowed this to happen to me, therefore I'll do this to you".

Just my opinion though.

Anders is interesting for me even because he is not simply "atheist". One could imagine that after all the ideas the Chantry has has spread on mages, he could simply refuse religion, or at least really don't care at all. Esecially in Kirkwall, where basically the Chantry abandoned the mages to whatever destiny they met in the Gallows with Meredith crazyness rampant.
Instead he still believes in the Maker, his definition and explanation of demons and spirit is still the Chantry one (we can see it in the banter with Merrill), he still believes in Andraste  and sees her as an important figure, even an example maybe. And in the manifesto he doesn't attack religion, he simply wants to show that the interpretation given by institution is wrong.

That's something I spent a good while trying to figure out.
I mean, the Maker is really a giant ass.

I just always get a kick out of the fact that Flemeth and Anders seem to have the same sort of demon hanging out in their bods. They could be best mates.

I stick to my beloved pagan elves and atheist wardens.
Just so every time I start a new game, I can laugh as the thoroughly offended Chantry sister hisses "HERETIC!" at me.

In fact the only Andrastian characters I have are fem!Hawke and Cousland.
m!Hawke worships himself.

Somebody should tell the Chantry that by turning mages Tranquil, they're placing more atheists in the world.

Hey, I'm not the only one! Telling the Grand Cleric's she's ineffectual and Sebastian to leave the fallacy of the Chantry's always good for a lol.

Same, though I was somewhat surprised when I discovered you could visit Elthina for a bit of an old pray fairly regularly. It reminded me of a conversation with Zevran in Origins.

"But... you ask for forgiveness and then go right on with your sinning!"

I don't remember the exact text of the quest but I'm fairly positive that isn't what she said, considering what we know about the only time anyone actually physically entered the Fade. They were asleep.

Finally, able to sit down and enjoy a drink after a craptactural day!

I RP my Hawkes as agnostic; they might of had the chance to believe in the Maker, but any chance of faith they might of had has been shaken to the core by being constantly told either they, as a mage are a  sin by a chance of birth, or their sister is. Only non-mage Hawke I've played so far is my canon rogue who is as loyal to Bethany as her mabari (which is named 'Carver' to troll her brother as a child) is to Hawke.

She doesn't disbelieve in the Maker, but if he's how the Chantry makes him out to be, she'll pass.
