yeah well some of us have xboxs and actually have to defeat bosses. lazybones!  ;)

Look, after the 3rd playthrough, I don't feel like playing tag and runaway with the Arishok. I think I earned my easy kill.

Really, it saves the embarassment of having to watch Hawke run away screaming like a girly girl from those weapons for 20 minutes. <_<

It is rather funny isn't it?  Remind me to go and finish the story I was working on where Varric is telling that story...  I have it about half done right now.

it's a tactical method. anyways; all you need is assassinate, vendetta andtwin fangs/archers lance. pinning shot also good.

warriors kinda suck in that situation cause they can't run away or they can't hit!

I'd enjoy the Arishokk duel (or loathe it less, as the case may be) if the man wasn't a walking apothecary, and assumed that Hawke is too.

I know, I know all too well. I just don't feel like playing it out again each time I get to it.

Hey look! A distraction!

Guys. The Enigma of Kirkwall stuff. A thought.

From the wiki...

Studies of the Veil have never been thorough. The Tevinters once theorised that the Veil is thin in places that have seen great bloodshed. As the Chantry is so fond of reminding us, the magisters of the Imperium only once crossed physically into the Fade, the catastrophe that blackened the Golden City. As the story goes, the ritual consumed a vast quantity of lyrium and the blood of a hundred slaves. But was it the deaths that bridged the worlds, or simply the blood and lyrium? Or both?

Demons seize every opportunity, every tear in the Veil, to enter our world. Once the Veil is torn, it is extremely difficult to mend, some say impossible.

--From The Lectures of First Enchanter Wenselus

Do you think they were trying it again in Kirkwall? It might be too much to suggest that it was the original site of the ritual that created Darkspawn, but it might hint towards what they needed so much blood for.

Older but..
Yes, I think that's a good idea of what they might of been trying to do. Just on a much, much larger scale since I'm pretty sure well over 100 slaves were bled dry to do whatever it may of been.

Squee!  Although, in my last playthrough, Anders was in Fenris' position and it look less like a smirk (don't think it looks that much like one here, tbh), and more like a smile of pride at Hawke's achievement, since she did just defeat the Arishok in one-on-one combat.

Fenris looks weird in that spot. Like a lizard....

...which leads me to the point that Thane = Fenris.

Because Thane is Fenris.

Poor Varric is half mast in that spot:(

Heh.  Poor Varric is half-mast in every spot.  Also, what I remember of that scene is an awfully sweet expression on Anders as his face is turning to look at the assembling crowd.  Not quite captured as well here, with him staring at the back of Hawke's head.  He just looks so very proud of his Hawke.  Then again, I'm just an avid Anders fangirl, so I obsessively overanalyze all possible thought processes going through his head whenever he's being dragged along on some crazy mission.  (Which is totally always because Hawke isn't about to be separated from her healer).

Re: Mass Effect 2...I can get it fer free in celebration of DA2, har, and I've thought about delving into ME 1 and 2, but I'm generally a diehard fantasist and have no real interest in sci-fi, and I've understood that Mass Effect in general appeals more to action gamers. I suppose if the story's good, I'll go for it, but I really dislike sci fi shooters in general...

Mass Effect is just DA in space with guns instead of arrows and all of the spells are blue.  Honestly, it's pure melodrama, just like Dragon Age.  Only the settings have been changed to protect the innocent.  And becuase you've played DA first you will be totally frustrating by the lack of glomping but the sexual tension may drive you insane if you're into that sort of thing.  Not that I am.

I speculated more on this in following posts, but I definitely think it holds great significance for the overarching DA plot, much like Flemeth's role.
It will be incredibly frustrating if we're told about this city, the very streets of which were constructed as a giant magic sigil, told that an entire generation of slaves were used to fuel blood magic, and then never have the situation explored further. Whether they were recreating the original incursion into the Golden City or something much grander, there's got to be more to it.

I actually already OWN Me1, but I HATE shooter games, and it felt very shooter to me, so I never got out of the first quest ;p

ME2 on the otherhand is less shooter and more drama, and I was amazingly suprised that I've enjoyed it as much as I have. So I buckled and went and found a me1 save file with the storyline I want, so I can ME3 with Kaiden *nod*

but I also have two seperate playthorughs with a Thane romance, and a Garrus Romance, because those men are just as awesome, if not awesomeer.

*nod.. *

Hnnnng I will fume if it was nothing more than one possible "this is why some mages are cray cray" explanation.
I think it could be expansion pack material. I really can't speculate on what they were doing anymore than what's already been said.

Seconded.  That's a...very large...staff.  I'd like to know what it is myself.  I'm guessing something from the item pack DLC?  Or maybe he's just making even more fun of Varric being all half-mast...silly men and their size issues.

Another of my Anders and Aonghas videos (malexmale kissing). This one made me feel bitter sweet because... okay the song just gets to me plus Aonghas takes another hit.

DA:A and DAII with a wolf growling and howling at the end.
