Goodbye! I need to try an mHawkexAnders playthrough!

I feel like I'm missing content here only romancing as a female. Seriously no context for Karl. My macho Hawke loves men that like kitties.

:wizard:

They can run off and, instead of kids, raise an army of kittens to fight in the war. They'll all have armor (except for the mage kittens who will wear little robes and ugly hats). Ser Pounce will command them.

@Pseudocognition, really it's nothing like that series that shall not be named. All he does is warn you off, he doesn't stalk you or stop you from seeing your friends or demand that you marry him before he bones you or want to drink your blood or compare you to a dangerous and addictive drug or alienate your family or.....

....God I hate that series :)

Oh I know, it's not that bad. But ughghghg. When the alternative is adorable happy faces and flirting in return? Not playing a lady. :\\

Also, Anders doesn't watch Hawke sleep. Justice does. Ohohohoh.

@Pseudocognition He flirts back at you in the first flirt option as a woman. It's gorgeous. classic old Anders. Actually he flirts right back at you in Act II before his mission too. It's just this one little bit at the beginning where he shuts you down if YOU flirt with him first which is a bit abrupt and kind of off-putting.

Great, now I am just imagining the creepy Ali-stare from his awkward DAO sex scene, where he's all '8-}" at the Warden while she sleeps.

*shudders*

Yeah it's the beginning bit that sets the tone that we're talking about, and... yeah. It's just different. Try it :D

It's the smile Anders gives you when m!Hawke flirts first. Saying how most men aren't so open, but that Hawke is a rare man. For a moment, it was like catching a glimpse of Awakening Anders.

L:SDkjfals;kdf *flails* he looks like you made him forget about everything including Justice for half a second. It's the best.

Oh, lovely! I will try it, no question. But I get a bit defensive whenever people compare Anders to... that.. other... THING (I will NOT call him a character, I will NOT). If you don't flirt with him right off as a fem!Hawke the dialogue goes like this:

Anders: Kind, wise AND beautiful, you must have made a deal with some demons yourself.... I'm sorry, I shouldn't presume... it's just that we've just met and I feel like I know you. I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable. (I like to think here that Anders had direct and complete control for the first half of the sentence, then Justice stepped in and poked him with a "REMEMBER YOU'RE NOT THAT GUY ANY MORE")
Hawke: (a couple of options here, one which is nice, but the sarcasm one is the most fun if you're looking for Awakenings Anders) Just keep calling me beautiful, you can't go wrong there.
Anders: Oh, I'm sure I could get more creative!

I melted. Pure Awakenings Anders.

Hm, well, I think up to a certain point it is largely the same (in terms of flirting and the lines you get, just changes depending on gender but the tone/implication remains). Where it varies is mostly in terms of Karl and the point where he goes off on the "I'm only going to hurt you" thing.

@Miri- that bit does vary for a male, since they do have to test the waters more for guys, I think (which is why all the "OMG BIOWARE IS FORCING ME TO BE A GAY" stuff just makes me roll my eyes, you're given MANY chances to shut him down). When you get the "I feel like I know you" line, he asks[/i] if he's making a Hawke uncomfortable to which you can reply with "Doesn't mean I want you to stop" and Anders replies in a cheeky tone with "I'll keep that in mind."

(There is one really awkward line, choice on the wheel that's labeled "No" where Hawke just replies  with "Am I making you[/i] uncomfortable?" and Anders just... moves onto the next line without acknowledging it, LOL. I suggest not taking that one.)

Oh no, I got the glitch!  Varric said everyone left the Champion's side "except for Anders".  Anders, who Varric himself pumped three arrows into and left dead at the Gallows.

Anders is haunting Hawke!  Oh noooooo!

(Just finished Act 3)

So Anders... :?

I know you were pissed at the templars but... really? That may have been a little bit over the top.

I can't really blame him. His emotional and mental health have been severely impaired after years and years of pent up anger towards the oppression he faces everyday just for being born a certain way. The templars snatched him from his parents when he was 12, confined him in what could literally be called a prison, and mercilessly turned his boyfriend into a tranquil. Like he said, he found love and similarity with Karl because together, they were able to pretend that they weren't just slaves to the templars. There's just no way the templars/Chantry could escape unscathed. For Anders, it was either finding a way (albeit morally questionable) to finally grab their attention or the mage cause is lost.

See... I kind of find this odd strength in character for him.   It wasn't an entirely selfish act in my mind... it was vengeance for years and years of oppression by the Chantry.  And it wasn't exactly that he was taking exact revenge, or so I think... he was forcing their hand.  By removing the so-called "mediating" force (which is wholly biased to the Templars based on the Chantry doctrine  -- the Grand Cleric DID give power to Meredith), he has forced Hawke to make a clear cut decision one way or the other, and has inspired the uprising of other  Circles all over Thedas... The world is going to change inevitably.

The issue was going to come to a head one way or the other, given the rising tensions...  The Andastrian belief and the Chantry are strong, and there will be quite a fight ahead, and many will die.  But it all has to start somewhere, and how else to counter the years and years of oppression and strict doctrine but with something that will rock everyone to their very core?  A strongly-worded letter?  A peaceful protest that can be squashed at the drop of a hat, given the Chantry's authority? It's a tragedy... but profound and awe-inspiring at the same time (at least to me).

Whee, late night rambling.  I might just be a tad daft, don't mind me.  Currently playing a Mage Hawke that didn't have much of a chance at a "normal" life to begin with.  Go Anders.

I couldn't agree more! When I beat the game I was thinking along those lines, and that he really wanted to give Justice some peace, before Anders anger destroyed them both, which it was close to doing already.  In fact on the rival romance, after he sets the bomb he talks about how good him and Justice are feeling like this burden has been lifted.  I looked at it from a stand point that no change even the good ones ever started from people just sitting on their asses waiting for someone else to do it, and there never start or end peacefully.  Many will die, but in the long run something great might become of it.

He was a powerful character in the game, and also next to Merrill the most tragic.

Did anyone else notice the foreshadowing by the Grand Cleric? When you are done distracting her at the end of the quest Justice, she says to Anders, "Your soul is troubled, child. I hope you found a balm for it here."

The way she pronounces "balm" sounded very much like "bomb".

Creepy.

Yeah, someone's mentioned it before.  And now everytime I hear it, this funny exchange occurs in my head:

Elthina: Your soul is troubled.  I hope you found a... balm for it here.
Anders: Oh ho ho, I see what you did there!  Balm, bomb... good one!
::They high-five::
Elthina: Seriously, though, get that thing out of here.

What I want to know is - Why does Ander's coat change back to the old style when you let him go and side with the Templars?

Yeah, Anders has his unique body model - skinny arms and all. Mage!Hawke better keep up on the exerciser or all that muscle mass will turn to fat :)

I think I've found a difference between the Big Sexy Kiss scene for male and female Hawke in the rival-mance.

In the M!Hawke/Anders videos I've seen (I think uploaded by Ryzaki), you get the "kiss you or kill you" line, then Anders says "blah blah, smoldering between us" and the dialogue wheel comes up.  The top right option doesn't actually say anything; it just lets Anders leap into his kiss.

For the female version, the dialogue wheel doesn't even come up.  You don't get the "smoldering" line and Anders gives you the "wake aching for you" line and says something about madness and then GLOMP!  And a dialogue wheel pops up after.

Here are the videos for comparison: Lady Hawke and Man Hawke

The difference is pretty minor, but I thought other crazed Anders fans might be interested.    It's pretty obvious why they did it, since it gives the straight male players one last chance to avoid the kiss, while Lady Hawke has to wait until after the sexy kiss to say "WTF NO".

lmao yuki.

Still the differences are slight but still...

Maybe it's just me but the female version seems...like she's constantly reassurring him. I don't get that from the Male version oddly enough.
