they recently did a poll on facebook asking who the favourite characters were out of four. Someone suggested it might be DLC related, as there were only four - Varric, Merril, Isabella and Anders. Anders was way way way behind the other three though :crying:

Eh, I wouldn't put too much emphasis on it. They're hardly going to use a FB poll to determine favourites for something as costly as a full DLC, and Anders' DA2 writer is on leave at the moment anyway. Given that Fenris is pretty popular himself, I'd also doubt he'd be out of the running.

We already know that Anders is one of the least-liked companions, this isn't news. His death was the big moment for DA2 and bringing him back in any further games would be akin to a US Warden or Alistair showing up in the Hanged Man, so we can be pretty bloody sure we won't see him in any large post-boom role.
I would be sad (but unsurprised) if we never got an Anders-specific DLC, but for anything that takes place in the first seven years and also features the other companions, he's likely to be around even if he's not the main focus of the content.

Our best bet is to keep an eye on what Adam Howden's doing, and if he hints at further BioWare work. It's not a guarantee - Brekker might miraculously return from the dead - but it's better than nothing!

Awww... to call us a dirty refugee all over again.  Be still my heart.    Seriously though, anything with Adam Howden from here on out (for me) will be gold.  The man has a sweet voice.

Edit: garb nobbit!  Picture for top.

Hahaha. That's brilliant. Keep trying, Anders.

What?  Anders is the clear winner here!
KITTUNZ beat everything, including chest mane, sanity, and convenient height!
This was a contest for maximum squee, not sex appeal?  Right?  Right?
* squeees off the audible register *

Or that could be crazy thinking due to the Anders/Nate/Hawke pic that broke my brain just now.

Does anyone else find it impossible to romance anyone else after romancing Anders? Believe me, I've tried, but I find it difficult to engage with the others on quite the same level.

Yes! I'm trying to romance Fenris for fun but honestly, as CalJones said, I can't get into the relationship as much as I did with Anders. One of the Fenris/Anders party bickers banters with help me explain.

Fenris: Did I hear correctly? Are you an abomination?

Anders: Why don't you shout? I don't think everyone heard you. (Ha! That gave me a smile when I first heard it. :D)

Fenris: Do you see yourself as harmless then?An abomination who would never harm anyone?

Anders: Like ripping someone's heart out of his chest?

Fenris: I did that at the behest of no demon!

Anders: So we agree that it doesn't take a demon for someone to be a vicious killer. Good.

Fenris is more hypocritical, more emotional, and more irritable than Anders, but it's Anders who literally has a demon inside him!! It's not that I don't pity Fenris, it's that Anders is more a man than Fenris will ever be.

Onto more superficial judgment, Fenris's  physical character design doesn't hold a candle to Anders. The new elf design gives him HUGE green eyes - combined with bleached hair, tattoos, and leggings….eek. His most redeeming quality is that deep, rumbling voice of his. Still, personally, he doesn't reek of masculinity like Anders does with that beard. In a robe.

Oh weird. So, I haven't done Dissent yet nor have I taught Anders Vengeance. However, I just finished Night Terrors and now Anders activates Vengeance in battle (no longer in the Fade). But... he still doesn't have Vengeance in his ability tree.

This playthrough seems to have a lot of odd Anders glitches for me. Like, when I didn't have Anders with me, his disembodied voice took over all the battle cries. I think it was the game's way of telling me I ought to have Anders with me. Either that or Anders gets so excited by battle that you can hear him yelling even when he's not there. ^_^

He is stalking Hawke the whole time, hiding in the bushes, yelling during battle because he just can't help himself.

Now I'm imagining Anders with leafy pauldrons he breaks out for when he gets left behind and is forced to stalk check on Hawke while she's out and about.

Hawke and party are on Sundermount.
Anders (still in Darktown) ....are you sure you don't need me?....
Hawke:  Maker!  How does he do that?
Anders: ...magic....and I can hear you...all the time...*audible smirk*

Lol.

*sigh* This is my punishment for not romancing Anders with this Hawke. Anders is left aching and stalking, hoping to slowly wear down Hawke's resolve.

Hahaha. Man, I feel like I have to go back to my canon Hawke and run around with just Anders in the party to make up for this travesty. Meanwhile poor Dominic Hawke will have to keep freaking out about Anders stalking and haunting him.

YES!  Leafy pauldrons, and maybe a ghillie suit robe under them!  Perfect for when you're hiding from templars too.  Maybe he carries a small shrubbery with him?

Merrill - Isn't that the same bush we saw two miles back?
Hawke - What?  Don't be silly, all bushes look alike.  It's just a regular bush.
Merrill - But we're in a lifeless salt flat at the bottom of the Bone Pit...

The feather layer is interchangeable on the shoulders. He changes to the more appropriate mimetic suite.

Abut Anders in combat. Since I'm a mage too, and a Spirit Healer at that, this time I let him use Vengeance a lot more. Though, he is supposed to change to Panacea...suppsed to. He just clearly forgets to do it...I've checked the tactics, I've moved it to top priority...nothing to do, he like to cast Tempest (he is really cool doing it, yes...yes I turn the camera to see him...ok).
I hate when he dies because he doesn't heal in Vengeance state >.<

But the good thing is...when I see he doesn't want to change his aura, I simply got to play with Anders and have fun with him :wizard:
(Sometimes I leave my Hawke playing alone and play only with Anders...cool animations are cool)

I think he could get away with it. Considering all the identical caves and such that they run across, what are a few identical, mage-shaped bushes?

In the Sims 3, detective sims can do stakeouts where the have their own shrubberies to hide behind. That's exactly what he needs!!

This is very sound logic.  *nods sagely*

Merrill - Look!  Now that bush is right here in Viscount's Keep!  It's following us!
Hawke - No, that's a potted plant.  See, it's sitting in a pot, saying "don't look at me, don't look at me".  Anders paranoia rubbing off on you?

I might, might, be able to endure lack of Anders in DA3.  Especially if there is Nate with no pants.  I don't think I can endure any more identical maps.  Did BioWare lose its maps budget in these tough economic times?

@SurelyForth - I wish I could give you a pie for that Sims3 pic!

Yay! Lets - I'm now having fantasies of DLC of the inbetween Act 2 & 3 where your LI is established and you get to intereact in more coupley and er... energetic ways .

CatOfEvilGenius wrote...
I wonder
if Anders' questioning of Hawke's loyalty is partly due to Vengeance?
Remember when Ella wonders if he's a demon and Vengeance starts
screaming that she's against him and on the side of the templars, even
though he just saw the templars torment her?  If the spirit has trouble
with shades of grey and nuance, any doubt or questioning must be
difficult for him to interpret properly.

Oooooh, I like this idea. I imagine there's something hardwired in the connection that says if Anders is calm/happy it's okay, but if Anders is stressed/conflicted Justice busts out and takes over.

I'm still stuck in Orzamaar in DA:O, seriously this play through is painful. (Damn Xbox dying and killing my saved games). The game mechanics are so much better in DA:2 and it's like going back to the dark ages - seriously my rogue is waving a dagger about massively out of range because Zev and Alistair keep blocking me out. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Over the last few weeks I realized something. I realized that Anders blowing up the chantry was the right thing to do. I used to hate DA:2 Anders but then I realized I only hated him because of his voice and because he complained too much without even being funny about it.Anyways I'm proud to say that I am once again a fan of Anders

I NEED A Night at the Hanged Man DLC and Aveline's Wedding DLC. They can cram hordes of faceless raiders in there if they have to, but I just want some more opportunities to hang out with companions.

Also, Varric in a bridesmaid's dress.
