Has anybody noticed how Varric's nickname for Anders is Blondie, and Blondie is The Goods, nickname in "The Good The Bad and The Ugly"?

This is kinda random

I spent the first half of the game confused because my PC was bonde... yeah, I'm that dim sometimes.

Don't worry, for some time I was confused cause Varric was blonde and it would make to sense for him to talk in third person...  Then I realized he wasn't putting himself on his own tab.

I have no issue with this, that film has been on my favourites since I was seven or so, and I still have my family fondly remember Clint Eastwood as my first 'crush' <_<

So listening to some old music of mine and the song "paranoid" from Tantric reminds me of Anders.

Some Lyrics for you all:

You all alone there in the dark
Shadows sinking into you
You're so afraid of everything
Is there something left for you

Why bleed for the wicked
If the wicked don't bleed for me
Got to stand up
Psych myself up
That's the way it's gonna be

Why can't I move
I'm tied up here
He said I've seen this
Pain before
Sometimes I want
To disappear
Got to tell ya
I'm feeling paranoid

[Chorus:]
What you gonna do
What you gonna be
When they're coming after me
I know that I'm feeling the lonely one

1500? Wow guys, this is Legen--

Wait for it, and I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the next part is...

-DARY!

(Sorry, couldn't resist. I heart me some NPH.)

Just so you know, you're killing me with A Distant Ray of Light right now. I'm rereading through all of my Anders/Hawke fluff to counter the depressing ending of those last two chapters :crying:

Scout's honor I did not go into this thing thinking I'd take the saddest romance in the game and somehow make it sadder. Apparently I have a recently discovered fetish for angst. *shakes head*

And we know whose fault is it, right?

Eh, I liked drama, but Anders seriously tested me...and I discovered that I like it even more ç_ç

(I'm following your fic too by the way xD)

Oh God the angst. I must be a sucker for it as well because I'm devouring your fic like it's heartbreak-flavoured pie.

Aww, you guys are totally making my night. I'd treat you to Anders-shaped cookies for everybody, but the last time I tried to bake I set off all the smoke alarms (sadly not kidding about this one; me and the stove are now in a feud of Capulet and Montague proportions).

Why take my time?

Wow, Anders is REALLY squishy. Way more so than, say, Merril or Bethany.

The sad part is I find it endearing that my rogue is constantly back-to-backing him to save his squishy ass.

You have my sympathies. My kitchen and I also have a bit of a love-hate relationship going on.
Also, following the trend of 'what part of Anders should be eaten first'... I'd probably take a chunk out of his torso, leaving his limbs intact.
I am the Great White Shark of sweets.

EDIT: On second thought, I probably have more in common with Hawke, considering my tendency to mantle.
THE BAKED GOODS ARE MIIIIINE BACK OFF

Weird.

He's usually the most sturdy member for me. Last to die usually too.

I think it's the fact I'm building him to be a primary healer/party support mage. He does decent damage, but he's got little in the way "get these things off me" spells. Which isn't normally a problem. Aveline does a fine job as the party tank most of the time.

I use him as a healer and support mage since I usually play a damage-dealer mage. Obviously Heal and Aid Allies are crucial for keeping his (and everyone else's) health up. Barrier's also not bad for taking the heat off. Mind Blast is useful for when he gets mobbed, as is Glyph of Paralysis, particularly when upgraded and cast at clustered foes. You can imbolize a huge chunk of the mob right there. GoP can also be cast while Panacea is active. I also only activate Panacea when my party members' health gets super low and I need Aid Allies or Regroup. This leaves Anders free to cast Winter's Breath and Cone of Cold when enemies get too close.

Really, though, what keeps Anders alive are your other party members. I generally like to spec my warriors with Battle Synergy, which helps draw threat away from other party members. A rogue with Goad (particularly now that it actually works) and Armistice can also be a life saver.

I find Anders to be far less squishy than Wynne was in Origins. Honestly, for me it's the rogues I have trouble keeping alive. The mages seem fairly durable with the right build and party tactics.

Stab rogues can main tank. Minerva winds up doing it all. the. time. I think it's because she has Bloodlust and can tear through hordes and hordes of opponents basically non-stop. Parry helps deflect the incoming blows. Sometimes I go at it without a warrior and it works out. And I'm playing on "Hard". XD

One can only imagine the headaches she gives Anders when she decides to do this.

Obligatory Anders screenie.

Guys. Guys.

I'm putting together an Anders FAQ for our little thread here, dealing with questions we get from strangers to the thread. There's plenty of stuff I plan on covering, from how he's alive in DA2 when he supposedly died in Awakening, to the benefits and drawbacks of both friendship and rivalry paths, to the origin of thread memes like Swanders and Meredanders.

But are there any topics or questions you'd specifically like to see included? What kind of information (not opinions!) needs to be put out there for people wanting a quick overview of DA2 Anders?

That we are an equal opportunity Hawke employer and that you are not a bad person for being here and we will help them with their new found love and obession.  Also  Hawkespawn.

Maybe throw in a link to some of Gaider's posts about the voice change.  I don't happen to have any at the moment myself.

Yay for delurking and welcome to the thread! We're not as crazy as we seem.

(Okay, we completely are, but it's the fun sort of crazy with feathered pauldrons and Swanders and devouring Anders-shaped cookies whole. Completely wholesome brand of craziness, this thread.)
