I almost died laughing. I am playing and my oma walks over and during the cut scene where Anders says he is sorry for going on about Justice and she says.
"Is this the man who blew up said church in game yes?Oh he is how you say sexy man? His voice is nice too. Why no men like that here? I can see why you like him, I would start a freedom fight with him too if I was younger. Maybe I play game too hmm?"

I also think my soul died.

Oh oma I love you.

My mom likes Fenris better. Because, and I quote, "he has cute ears".
Oh, Mom. Lord of the Rings has ruined you. ;3;

Lord of the rings made my mom swoon over Aragorn lol.  I loved legolas since the 4th grade when I first read the books.  Also when I fell in love with fantasy.  My first fandom however was Drizzt and Lestat >_> I will forever love them.

Edit: Two great pics for top because I love you all!

I guess I just don't see the "done to death" thing because the extent of my Dragon Age fannish adventures end here, and this thread hasn't really been especially forceful in any particular way regarding "so-and-so ~belongs with and works better with~ Anders". Unlike.... a certain other thread whose name I will not mention that has always had a clear and overwhelming UR DOIN IT RONG biases.

I wasn't even talking about what people do in their games to begin with. Unless it has a direct effect on Anders as a character (so rivalry/friendship) I don't seriously care. I have my preferences and other people have theirs and that's awesome, as long as nobody says things like "I think my [insert preferred class/sex/pairing] is totally canon!".

I was talking only about fanworks and what I like to see in them. I don't actively dislike any pairings (except for Anders/Fenris), but there are usually thematic and characterization differences between mage Hawkes and non!mage Hawkes and I've found that I prefer the latter. That's all. It's literally no different from preferring to read m/m or liking Alistair with a dwarf or an elf over a human.

ETA: But I can admit that an awesome plot or strong writing will win me over every time. One of my favorite DA fics is a Loghain/Cousland AU, and I do not care much for Loghain at all.

I am not disagreeing. I understand what you are saying, but it's quite a bit different when it isn't qualified and explained and instead generalizations are put forth ("Mage/Anders is the best and only mages are meant for him!" or "Mage/Anders sucks and they're all dumb and smelly!").  Also, I would contend that there is a difference between liking a character class/whoever and liking m/m and dwarf vs elf vs human/Alistair, namely that there is an extra level involving aesthetics and physical preferences that isn't necessarily present in the class pairings thing... but I do understand what you mean about dynamics.

I am not even sure what  or why I am arguing (or if I am arguing at all) since this literally has no bearing on anything I deal with, haha.

Anyway. Fingerpenis

DON'T JUDGE MEEEEEE

And my introduction to hormones came in the form of David Bowie. (Oh, Labyrinth. You will always have a special place in my heart.)
Also, that blindfolded Anders (...Janders... whatever) is deeleeshus.
And ololz, I see it is roleplay tiem at the Hawke estate.

Anders jokes now, but we know that all mHawkes have a lot to take in.

Meaning, he's huge

It's from Aqua Teen Hunger Force, lol. Well, the last bit. The first bit is in reference to the dick joke Hawke can make after banging Fenris.

You know, as much as it isn't Anders to me (and I think with the right eyes it could be close) this is way better than most Anders morphs. Or maybe I see freckles and the part of my mind that decides these things automatically short circuits into WANT.

this is actually pretty darn good. Needs brown eyes, but other then that they did a good job keeping a recognizable Anders quality to their morph.

EDIT: And may i add that i'm glad they kept his nose the same. I love that nose! is it weird that i have a thing for interesting noses? oh well. <3

I'm a fan of rogue LadyHawke too - (the armour is protective yet fetching), plus I get to weild two massive axes/ chopping knives, and we know impressions are important. Plus! She gets to inappropriately raid barrels and crates whilst Kirkwall is falling down around her ears and none of her companions call her on it. Especially if Anders is in the group, I kinda think he should be hurrying her along to help save the mages rather than picking up another bunch of useless crap which she's only going to destroy when her backpack gets too heavy.

Anyway, my point (it's nearly 4am here so excuse the poor typing/ incoherent rambling) is that I agree - more non-mageHawke f-fic needs to exist. I think it brings more balance to the relationship and stops Anders seeming quite so mage-crazy. Plus she then provides some realistic support because we all know mages are squishy close up.

Anders: Love please we need to get going! Those mages need us!
Hawke: Hang on.  Oh look a scarf!  This goes for three copper.
Anders: You are happy about three copper?  You live in Hightown and you are worried about three copper.
Hawke:  You never know when we might be on the run for our lives and need the coin.
Justice: SHE KNOWS TOO MUCH!!

^^^ Loled so hard! :o

Honestly, I just don't get the class
thing if the character is interesting enough. I don't understand it, but
I get that people have preferences. It's just when people start saying
that a dynamic is more interesting than another based solely on class
and regardless of the personalities and actions of the people involved
that I get confused and have to disagree.

But again, I don't
bother with fanfic so I am admitting that this issue isn't a fanfic
related one as much as what is in the game and general feelings about
character dynamics/relationships in fiction.

In terms of fanfic it is more to do with it seeming like the easy choice to pair him with a mage. I'd like to see a bit more conflict - but still a happy relationship. It's like some writers think that the only way to friendmance him is with a mage - and that makes me sad as it feels, to me, like he's a bit of an extremeist that way when we all know he's equal opportunities.

In game however, imo, the most interesting dialogue comes when you romance him as a maleMage. I like that the game takes all of the differences into effect and the variety in the responses, but it makes me sad that my femRogue misses out on some of his story. I just have to headcannon it that he tells her about it at some other time and I just don't get to witness the convo.

Iam curious as to what will be in 3....will they continue Hawke's quest? Or would they move onto someone else? Could it be Morrigan's god child? lol we create what her child looks like.... that would be funny, I would suspect someone to advertise a completely unattractive one at some point....

I don't think Morrigan's child is going to play a very large part in any future games.
A good number of people never carried through with the Dark Ritual, and while it could be handwaved as her running off to Riordan anyway, it would also invalidate a huge chunk of story from Origins. Why bother skipping the ritual for the tense moments of the US ending if the writers completely ignore the whole thing two games later?

The Blight started in 9:30, right? Act I would have started around 9:31, Act II in 9:34, Act III 9:37, Varric questioned in 9:40. I thiiink those numbers are right. So we've only got 60 years of game time left in the Dragon Age, unless they overlap more or jump back to the first three decades. While I would love to play our Warden or Hawke again, it would also be kind of neat for the next game to be set thirty years or more in the future, so we can see the outcome of the war, and the next PC be a product of that changed world, who grew up listening to tales of the Hero and the Champion.

"In the 99th year of each Age the Divine looks for an event or portent in order to determine the name of the new Age. The last portent was a dragon awakening and going on a rampage. This suggests an age full of violence and destruction."

I wonder what the next Age will be. Maybe the last DA game will be set during 9:99, with the next Age named after our PC. That would be hilarious. I suppose it still depends if we have Divines in another sixty years. How far-reaching will Anders' revolution be?

*wonders what a Morrigan/Alistair god baby would look like*

I'd be cool, but only if they come up with a good excuse for those who didn't do the "dark deed". Maybe they'll say that she seduced Riordan or something.
