I think everyone is just too used to saying "It's fantasy, ergo the gods are real." Even in a world where magic exists, DA's presentation of religion is impressively realistic.

This is incorrect. The Old gods didn't die. They were imprisoned by the original panthion of gods (see, Dalish/Elvahn gods). Those gods were then in turn tricked into being locked up in their perspective realms by the one god who was nether good, nor bad -- Fan'Harel, aka, The Maker. (You wont convince me otherwise of this, by the way, its pratically slapping us in the face. Only WoG will convince me that Fan'Harel isn't The Maker ;p )

There's an old post by Mr.Gaider out there (that i have no hope of finding) which effectively states the elven gods and the Maker are entirely separate beings. Since Fen'Harel is one of the elven gods, if he's supposed to be such completely separate entity he can't at the same time be the Maker.

(i also don't really see anything about it that'd be slapping me in the face, tbh. It's largely reasoning based on "the Maker and Fan'Harel are the only two entities which possibly have some sort of agency left"... but to draw conclusion from that single common point that they must be one and the same is a very large stretch, imo)

in a fantasy the most fantastic fantasms of real life are real because it's a fantasy. try saying that  three times fast. nah - it's a great big question mark and we each have to answer it ourselves.

So, completely off-topic, I just realized that had Leandra not ran off with Malcolm she would have married the Comte de Launcet. In which case, Hawke could have very well been Emile de Launcet. Posted Image

Well, the Old Gods are apparently real -- we get to see their tainted Archdemon form, and Morrigan allegedly manages to extract a clean specimen from one. And someone/something *did* put these Old Gods long miles underground, i doubt they just all went on their respective picnics there and had the roof collapse onto them.

But there's no hard indication that the Old Gods are actually deities. They could just as easily be High Dragons. Just as in real life, the only support for true divinity is stories and faith.

I don't think Morrigan would be very interested in obtaining soul of a High Dragon. She certainly gets an opportunity to grab one way earlier in the game and doesn't show much interest in it.

edit: somewhat off-tangent tho, just a thought -- given how Flemmeth is apparently getting some ongoing redesign into something really big (in the Mirror DLC and DA2) what if they're trying to twist the story around to make her Fen'Harel?

morrigan doesn't know everything.

i don't think we will ever know who fen'harel is; if indeed we've met them, which realistically is unlikely. if she is fen'harel i think the writers would always have it in their lore instead of bending it now

The writers might not know everything, just as Morrigan doesn't know everything. Flemeth might be as much a mystery to them as it is to us. They have something in mind for her, but it's possible not even they know what yet. They could easily be playing her by ear.

Sure, but she's following instructions of Flemmeth who is made to seem like someone who knows much more, and by the time the Mirror DLC happens Morrigan should be fairly able to tell if her scheme netted her a soul of High Dragon or something else. But we don't see her go "lol you know, turns out Archdemons are really just dragons" when you question her about the child.

Hahaha, I know! Hawke with a tonsure and everything.
Slowly but surely I'm managing to convert hubby and bestie to BW. Hubby I've finally managed to convince to give ME1 a go (it was £2.50) after he'd spent a bag on money on Portal 2 and finished it in 8 hours. I mocked him then with my 60+ hours of game play mwhahahahaaa

Bestie... showed her a pic of Anders. Sorted.

But she has all the wonder and all the heartache to come - I'm not sure she'll be happy with me when she gets to the end of the game.:bandit:

Better tell her that you will break her heart by giving her the game, but it breaks yours to makes your broken heart feel better 'cause you can be heartbroken together after. Yay!

Edit: Zevran just showed up to help my better half with Meredith, but he never showed up to help me! What the HELL Zevran?? I did your quest too! :crying:

And CAN you sleep with him in DA2 at all?  Anders has prevented me from discovering things about this game apparently...

Edit: my thoughts are slightly disjointed today

If you leave your LI behind then yes I believe you can. Unless it's Isabela. Then you can have a threesome.
