If you're going to slash Anders with another companion, why can't we continue the "Nanders" tradition?

I'd prefer a sandwich.

Oh, mercy.
*fans self*

EDIT: If we're going by how Anders reacts to Male and Female Hawkes, and M!Hawke is Kaylee... does that mean F!Hawke is River?

That's... well, I want to say 'hot', but even as cool as Summer Glau is, the best I can do is 'creepy'.
Really, really creepy.

Since I didn't get that in my playthrough, but I got Nathaniel's grumpiness... nope, not really.  And weren't those lines spoken by Anders, not Nathaniel?

Nathaniel said "it was good to see you again," and Anders responds with "stay safe, my friend."

The way that Nathaniel greeted Anders in my game was pretty warm, considering that Nathaniel isn't exactly a warm person himself.  Saying "there's no escaping you it seems," with a grin is about as friendly as Nate will ever get

But especially with Delilah, Anders seemed to me pretty happy to hear about Nate and to talk about him. I don't think he would have reacted like that if for some reason he didn't want to see him.
Sure, Anders with his sense of humor (let's admit the " Hey, I'm fond of the Howes! I'm also fond of the Whys, the Whos and the Whats." is a bit...ugh xD) liked to ****** him off, just for the fun of it...Nate is kinda asking for it with his attitude.

I think they were friends, they didn't have any real reason to hate each other like Fenris and Anders after all.
And whataver happened to the VA of Nate (he had a sore throath or something when they recorded, otherwise I can't explain it) it didn't help with the even more low voice to convey anything.

That's what I thought, too.  They weren't best buds or anything, but they did at least trust each other.  I have plenty of friends that enjoy trolling me just to see a rise.

I just remember being shocked at how unhappy he sounded to see Anders.

But then... he did have Carver with him. Maybe little brother was getting on his nerves. ;)

Yep, I have always viewed Anders & Nate in that light.  They trust one another, got along as Wardens, but were not the best of buds.  This is part of why I never liked Nanders.

He was gargling on a bag of dicks or well, bard yelling too much.  That is the only reasoning I could come up with.

Eh. He's a professional voice actor. He goes to recordings all the time and most games in development would have NDAs, meaning he can't talk about what he's doing. Don't read too much into it, especially given Anders' DA2 writer is on leave.

Damn my actual work getting in the way of a Nanders discussion! Which I totally and completely support.

I know the evidence for it in canon is kind of slim. But it's there. And let's be honest, other pairings have been slashed on far less than this:

Nate: You don't always wear robes, do you?
Anders: Not when I'm naked I don't know.
Nate: I mean when you run from the Circle. Robes would make you easy to spot.
Anders: So does the "I'm a mage" sign around my neck. I like to make it easy for the templars.
Nate: Ah, so that's how it's going to be.

Alright, so the most obvious thing is Anders' "naked" line which is said rather suggestively. While I've heard arguments that it's just a deflection from talking about something he doesn't want to bring up, Nate hasn't actually brought up the templars yet. The robe question kicks off the banter, so there's nothing there for Anders to dodge. I do agree the rest of the conversation is Anders' attempt not to talk about something he finds rather painful.

What's interesting to me is that Nate brought it up at all. He's offering a suggestion to Anders about how to avoid capture from the templars. Would he do that if he didn't like the guy at all? I doubt it. I generally don't offer helpful advice to people I don't like. While it might be pretty slim to call it a sign he's interested in Anders' romantically, I don't think you can argue they aren't friends or at least friendly. Nate might be annoyed by Anders' attempts at humor, but he brings up the templars again. It seems like he cares at least a little bit about Anders' past, even if he doesn't fully understand or appreciate it.

@Ashwraith: Bah! FemHawke is totally Zoe. Kicks ass and takes names, no question about it.

I think it can still be considered a deflection. After all, where else was that question going to go - You don't always wear robes do you, to black tie events for instance? Nate may not have outright mentionned the templars, but I'm sure Anders knew what he was getting at. I also don't think that he's offering a suggestion so much as wondering out loud why anyone trying to avoid capture would make themselves an obvious target. I take it as a "Are you really so stupid?" But YMMV.

I think they come to be troll-friends, and they sit around with Oghren drinking and and the three of them insult each other as a manly sign of friendship. Until Anders does the Justice thing.

But Nathaniel is like that with all of the companions (he's kinda curious in general about who they are and how they're feeling), and Anders is like that with all of the companions (a mixture of borderline lascivious and deflective). They are literally being shipped because they have conversations and are in proximity to one another. I don't doubt that they like each other as friends and comrades eventually, but by that standard they they should be shipped with pretty much everyone else.

But this is coming from someone who tries to avoid shipping for the most part. Except for these two. And them.

Oh, I'll readily admit that evidence in canon is very slim. Nate is definitely curious about others and Anders is disarmingly humorous and slightly flirty. I don't deny that. But is it enough of a basis to extrapolate a relationship in fanfic? Sure, why not? It's been done before on less (Fenders, for instance). I DO think they have something of a friendship, though. It may not be super-close, but I think it's there. Because while Nate might be curious about everyone else, I do think the whole offering advice thing means he has some type of positive feelings towards Anders.

If a relationship like that between Anders and Nate can be made from that one conversation, then Anders and Oghren..

No. Not going to keep thinking about that.

Like I said, I'm not saying the relationship exists in canon. I don't think it does. I'm saying there's enough of a foundation to justify it existing in the realm of fanon. The only thing I think exists in canon is a friendship, and a tentative one at that. So the little evidence I hauled out is mostly just trying to prove they don't hate each other as some have claimed.

Well...he has a cameo, at least in the Wardens. I only played through with him in the templars once, so I don't remember if he pops up there. But you can bring up your mother's death with him and it's a really great, somber moment. But yes, I wish our siblings were a bigger part of the main game and useable in the party beyond the first act.

I was reading some old threads, and this one was from the "Wade & Herren, a couple?" I thought you guys might find this silly. It was written about a year ago.

I'm also pretty sure Anders is gay. I mean, come on, the gifts you can give him include a knitted scarf, golden jewelry, and a kitten! And what he says when you give him gifts is just so...well, I don't know, I could be wrong, it's just a theory. Don't get me wrong, I love my dear sparkle-fingers.

Haha I do remember raising my eyebrows at the scarf bit. Then I remembered Ferelden is a little on the chilly side. But when you put it all together.. I don't see how I didn't know he'd end up Bi

ps I've been trying to replay Awakening but Anders' voice is breaking my brain. I keep thinking "Cullen? Where?!" when he says anything

A lot of people were saying that. And a lot of us were rolling our eyes and were like "Of course he's gay! Only a woman or a man who takes it up the ass can like nice things and kittens!"
