First kissing scene. I've only done the friendmance but the actual kiss is the same. It's hot. And I have to say I like watching two hot men go at it. Rawr.

Back to Doctor Who, being slightly older (read: middle aged, bah) and English I grew up with it. Jon Pertwee was my first Doctor but I was watching Tom Baker for most of my formative years.

Ah, Anders. The first, and probably the last time he ever says anything nice to Merrill.

It was before she used blood magic to open the barrier, right? xD

Favourite Anders moment...

You have already covered a lot of them, but I like a lot the conversation when he is putting out the milk, or when he is writing the manifesto...leading to the kiss of course.
And the comments with Emile de Launcet xD I have to admit in Act3 was refreshing to see him joke.

It might not be the best scene, but I like him even when he stands up before Meredith when you complete On the Loose.

Gawd, I wish that exchange had ended with a kiss.

I liked just about any scene in which Anders smiles, smirks or laughs.  I like taking a non-flirty path in Act 2's Questioning Beliefs, just so I can get his response to Hawke asking why nobody's happy to just be the best wallop player in Lowtown.  (Though then I, naturally, reload, flirt and pretend that it was just one big conversation.)

I always talk to him at the beginning of Act 2 with Izzy in the party, so I can get the scene of him prescribing a salve for Seneschal Bran.  More smirkage, and, "Pirates tend to dock in... unsavory places."  I do have a soft spot for Bran, though, (probably my favorite non-party NPC) so that likely has something to do with it.

Oh, and Moldova totally should have won Eurovision.

That scene is one most people miss, and it just highlights what kind of privlages gifted to Hawke and his/her friends. Thanks to Anders' skill with healing and potions he actually grants himself a bit of a freedom bubble, which you don't see if you don't bring Bela along for that scene.

It really shows you that Kirkwall and the templars turned a blind eye on purpous to these people, because they were doing far more good then ill, even Anders, who's running the mage underground and blowing up chantries ;p

Even if I didn't choose that sentence with my canon Hawke, so to speak, I watched the videos and yes, even on a Friendship path, it is really, really good. And this picture is very sweet :)

As for my favourite scene... hmm. As heartbreaking as it is, the scene after he plants the bomb on the friendship path, where he will tell you that he loves you, and how much the cause means to him. The writing there just... hurts so good.
Other than that, probably the kiss during the first half of the romance scene, where he reaches out to touch Hawke's face before drawing in for the kiss. It's very sweet.
Ooh, or the part where he says that he'd rather be on the run with Hawke than safe with anyone else, but I love the idea of them running off to be fugitives from the law.

Pretty much most scenes, really.

I do love both the passionate kiss in Anders's clinic and the gentle one at Hawke's mansion, the latter for the reason that's bolded above, it's just a very tender scene and to me emphasises that he's wanting to hold onto that moment and feel as close to Hawke as possible (in a rare non-creepy way Posted Image). I just love it.

Another favourite of mine is during Dissent when he loses control over Justice and nearly kills/kills the mage girl (I can never remember her name). I love Adam Howden's voice acting in this scene when he gains control again, it pulls at my heartstrings how distressed he is and every playthrough my Hawke heads immediately after him to try to help calm him down and talk things through with him.

But honestly there are so many great moments, I Posted Image Anders

The Seneschal is also in the Blooming Rose during one of the acts (as is ex-templar Samson, though where he gets the money from, I don't know!) Both of them were lurking near Serendipity.

I also like the banter Izzy and Anders have about the Pearl. There's a lot of good small stuff that is easily missed.

Hehehe morning everyone,

Obviously I love the kissing and the panting, and I love watching the way his jaw moves when he's kissing Hawke in the Estate - some great animation right there, well done BW! But I also love his expression as he's being led to the bed - I can't even describe it but you know what I'm talking about - it's so emotional <3

As for banters there's so many I never got before that I'm getting in my current playthrough, this is not a favourite but I got the whole Anders/Fenris suicide banter for the first time, Anders scared me a bit Oo

I just love dgragging Anders everywhere and listening to his comments on everything - he's bitter and nasty most of the time but he's also sweet and caring and funny occasionally so it's worth it.

And I know he's terribly mean to Merill but this one banter with her after the death of her clan made me forgive him: something like - Anders: you a horrible terrible person lala Merill: What would you have me do?? Anders: Start over, most blood mages don't get the chance.

The kitten banter between them is also lovely, and of course the:

Meril: Ohh Paul! He ran away from me what was he thinking?
Anders: Maybe he was thinking AAAARGH BLOOD MAGE!

That one's at the very end of the vid: Merill/Anders banter

Edit: Slightly off topic but in the Alistair cameo when does he refer to the Warden as the love of his life? If she's dead or his mistress? And does anyone have a video of it? All Ive got is "and old friend" and the "old ball and chain"

The suicide one made my heart stop. :crying: Surely someone must have realised and been having chats with him behind the scenes. I like to think Varric had an idea something big was going to go down, but not quite what.

I'm coming up to the bit with the Sarebas again... don't think I can force him to be free this time around. That was the worst bit of the game. Just gut wrenchingly horrible and depressing.

I'm just waking up so apologies if this one has been mentioned and I just missed in my pre-coffee haze. I'm replaying right now and I just completed All That Remains. Obviously his comfort scene is one of my favorite moments in the game (he seriously is the most understanding of any of the LIs, he doesn't get upset if you lash out angrily, and he really is there for whatever Hawke needs). But he also has a few lines at Quentin's hideout itself if you bring him along, notably when Leandra's dying in Hawke's arm. Unlike Merrill, who has to ask Anders if he can save Pol, Anders just appears behind Hawke to tell him there's nothing he can do, and he sounds heartbroken about it. It's a great moment all around.

And as Elle mentioned, the quest with Ketojan is my other favorite mission. I love taking it on as a mage, then telling Arvarad exactly what I am. Anders pops in with a strong sentiment of solidarity and the Qunari's face is priceless. But I can't not try to make Ketojan accept freedom. Even knowing the inevitability of the outcome, I have to try. (One of these days it's work, dammit!) ;)

awwwwww don't do it! Everytime I picked a choice that was basically 'be free dammit' he'd say something else that would stab my poor heart. I've not played it as a mage, but Anders does a lovely little rant about Ketojan being brain washed or words to that effect.
And you've broken my resolve, I think I'll have to switch over to Anders before Leandra dies now so I can shout at him and he can be all understanding. I love shouting at Aveline too, and Meredith when she brings it up. BW writers really outdid themselves.

Totally agree with highcaste - I was actually impressed by BW this time around - they thought about what a proper lover would do, the LIs were somewhat basic in Origins in behavior and responses. So yes I was still trying to get my head around the horrible grotesque death of my mother when Anders comes along to comfort me, And I loved his "If it helps go ahead and take it out on me" Awwww Andeers!

Even though I understand the qun alot better now than my first playthrough I still try and free Ketojan - even just for drama's sake - his end scene is so beautifully tragic <3

And I got the whole suicide banter way in the beginning - it just sounded like there were times in Anders' life when he obviously thought about it - I like to think he's way too strong for that, but it scared me =( "Some things must be worse than slavery, some things are worse than death" I'm slightly annoyed at the whole "Killing one's self is a sin in the eyes of the maker" I hope that isn't all that kept Anders from trying -.- eeesh

@ladyofpayne: Haha you got some lolz out of my boyfriend with that - he's got this talent to only look at my screen whenever there's something rediculously gay on

The whole Ketojan quest drives me batty.  I want to turn down Petrice because she's so clearly not playing with a full deck but if I try Anders yells at me.  And why the hell can't I at least take off that mask and snip those stitches even if the collar is somehow magically fixed to the poor thing's body?

I definitely agree with Hawke's line about freeing him in that condition anyway.  What kind of life could he have still bound like that?  I just want to give him a big hug and tell him he's not a bad person just for being a mage.  :crying:

Oh man, Ketojan is the reason I hate the Qunari. I was mildly uncomfortable with some of the implications about them from Sten in Origins (it's the whole lack-of-a-name thing; it's my culture speaking, I know, but individuality's kind of important to me). But in speaking to Ketojan and then hearing the Arishok's indifference to him...yeah, no thanks. I get that some people like the Qunari and their philosophy. Personally, I think the treatment of their mages is even worse than what the templars do. And once again, I just can't abide the preemptive punishment of somebody for something they might do.

@legbamel: I completely support a Give Ketojan a Hug mod!

At least the war with the Tevinter Imperium makes more sense in light of how they treat mages. I can't really see either side signing the treaty when they disagree on something that fundamental.
