Alright, I thought I saw about a hundred pages back or something, but didn't someone swap out Hawke for Anders in Izzy's romance scene? (As in, Hawke on top, Anders on bottom) I could have sworn I saw a video of it...

Or maybe it was wishful thinking.

See, I've actually had no problems going from DA2 > Origins, I've actually replayed it 1.5 times (finished one playthrough, then decided to make a canon one for my next DA2 game. My canon warden, however, is totally messing everything up in hilariously awful ways) since I finished DA2. I think what DAO lacks in cinematic loveliness it makes up for in variety of scenery/mission type? I think I would have liked DA2 a million times more if there were more pretty forests and whatever and less...brown buildings. Not that I didn't love it, mind.

Also, I have an...embarrassing confession. I've actually never...played Awakenings. I don't know why, it just...I never got around to it. But I bought the Ultimate Edition of Origins the other day and am working my way through all the lovely DLC I missed the first time. And I just finished the Landsmeet so I'm so close to Anders I can TASTE it.

YES! I refuse to accept the fact Fenris gets his own little theme even though, let's face it, he's not central to main plot, and Anders doesn't!! If there's ONE character that should have got their own theme except Hawke it's Anders. And yes the love theme is totally ANDERS love theme. And I'd gladly think of Mage Pride as an Anders theme too if wasn't so bloody similar to the Fenris theme.

And @Elle: Yup there's definitely some maic shizzle going on when he touches her face: I presonally think he's so excited/happy/focused that it just pours out of him because he can't control himself around Hawke ^_^

Lucky you...me I got bored playing and besides I'm going to be very busy soon [school is about to start here in my country plus I will be having an OJT soon] =]

Yes well...I've never played DA:O and Awakening more than once [I'm not that satisfied with the graphics and the Warden's lack of emotion and response [I was like "damn warden TALK! And give some more emotion will you? :?"]

But now in DA2, I'm so happy that Hawke is fully voiced and that the graphics are more enhanced. Now what I don't like is the repetition of the maps I keep on thinking "I've just been here awhile ago and now again?"

But now it got me thinking, Anders really was the companion with the most emotions and facial expressions

Edit: @Ninche
Hmmm...I think the "Mages" theme can be the theme of Anders. I mean I get to hear it being played when you first met him. And the other one is when he blew up the Chantry. I can't seem to remember if there are more scenes of Anders where that music is used though :? But I agree...Fenris has his own theme why can't Anders too? <_<

Oh I love that explanation! Posted Image

As for themes, Mages on the DA2 soundtrack is totally Anders' theme in my mind, it plays when you first enter the clinic and it's playing after the whole Chantry-loses-its-fight-with-gravity scene where you're deciding his fate.

And thinking about the first time Hawke meets Anders, does anybody else still get a little excited about that? When Anders was first announced as returning and I saw that vid on youtube I must have watched it like 20 times I was that excited he was coming back and each playthrough I still feel like "Yay it's Anders!" Posted Image

Edit: @ Ninche I Posted Image you for posting that link, I'd never seen that before, that's awesome!

I prefer him a bit more serious, the pure snarkfest would have been a bit too much I think for an LI. I like that when the snark does rear it's head it just makes me want to sing for joy! I'm trying to think back to which quest it was when I brought Anders along and he went into full snark rant, it might have been Sundermount, think I had Varric and Aveline with me and he just went off on one about not pissing off the people with the swords. Or something. Dammit. Will have to check when I get home tonight. I have to say I've noticed more snark from him playing as snarky Hawke though.

Well, I don't want the same amount of snark that he had in Awakening. I do prefer him more serious; afterall, the reason I love him is that he's so passionate about his cause. And I agree that he does definitely have shining moments of snark in DA2. However, I still miss super snarky Anders at moments. I just sometimes wish in Act 1 he'd be more willing to joke more with some of the companions other than Izzy and Varric. I feel like he should at least be able to joke with Hawke a little more. The closest he gets is the sandwich line.

Clearly I need to get a hold of the soundtrack Posted Image

Anders must have been their primary LI when making the game, just because he is soooooo central to the story. I can just imagine them planning on how to break poor fangirl and fanboys hearts with this most epic of heartwrenching love stories, and their joy in knowing what he would do and how to make it more tragic and glorious.

@ Yami - Is part of his seriousness with Hawke down to the fact that he pretty much falls for her/him straight away. That damn hero aura just sucks him in pretty much from the start and he's a bit baffled by it.
I always saw the snark as defensive anyway, so in my head it makes sense that he's fallen in love with Hawke and is therefore more... hm... gentle/ genuine and seems to value that in his conversations with Hawke.

This is the precise reason I like to think of it as an Anders theme, actually, haha. I always just imagine it as Anders trolling Fenris.

Fenris: Ah, my theme. No wait... it's a little different.
Anders: MAGE PRIDE BABY!!! Mages took your theme and made it better. :wizard:

Don't forget the Black Divine, stalking Thedas and making it unsafe for kittens and virgins!

I love that conversation so, so much, especially with sarcastic Hawke. "I got something for you! It's shiny and subversive!" Posted Image

Strangely enough, the reason I didn't like DAO as much the first time was because the character wasn't voiced (I blame Mass Effect)...and yet this time, even after playing DA2, I don't mind quite as much. Don't ask me why.

All my Origins playing has gotten me SO in the mood for DA2 again, though. I'm gonna play snarky Hawke and it is going to be divine.

I forgot about that. That whole scene was more awesome than I thought it would be when I first found the gift. I figured a Tevinter Chantry amulet would end up with more ranty Anders. Instead it was hilarious, which made up for Hawke giving Anders a gift that might get him killed, haha.

Ohhh then at least that's good! ^_^ But you know what, I got interested into playing DA:O again just because of DA2. I want to get those missing quest in DA2 [like the effect of your Warden's Keep quest] I didn't have that with my first playthrough and I'm too lazy to do it in my old DA:O file [my character's stats and abilities are so screwed plus I have to do the whole Awakening again because the save file that I always import is my Awakening save file and not my DA:O file]

If Anders ever got captured the tevinter chantry amulet would be the least of his worries ;) I love that little scene as well, I usually always go with the joky options but the other day went with some diplomacy instead - which resulted in hawke saying something like Tevinter is Awesome <3 <3 and Anders actually started this serious discussion about all the nasty things they did. I was impressed he's not one sided about Tevinter after all and argues both sides of the argument. He just impresses me more and more Oo

Every time the title changes, it makes my day. I'd also like to think that it means this thread is a gift to Anders.

Ninche wrote...

Yeah, but at least the Templars seem thick enough to not notice he's a mage. Now Hawke is making even his accessories a hangable offense. I dunno, I just question Hawke's gift giving abilities. The gifts seem to usually depress/enrage companions.

Hawke's just not good at giving good gifts haha! At least his companions appreciate the effort. Well some do take it but not all...:P

Yeah agreed...I was even surprised when I mentioned it to Cullen while Anders is with me. I can agree with Anders' reaction "What are you doing?!". But Cullen's reaction...

Edit - stupid internets, logging me out as I make my post.

Anyway, what I was going to say was...

I hope for the next game the companions can give you gifts and how you react to them affects your relationships, instead of it just being one sided. I know my Hawke was a bit like, well, I've got you this lovely gift. Do you like it? hmmm... now where's mine?

Apart from when Aveline got all pissy about selling Wesley's shield - seriously I'm storing that this time around so she can keep it and not get mad at me.

ps - LOVE the thread change, everytime it changes it makes me giggle. It's so much better than other threads with their static names. Posted Image

Other threads are like the Warden's expression- always the same on the outside, no matter what kind of stuff is going on inside. The Anders Thread, on the other hand, is just like Anders himself- super expressive!

I kept the stupid thing and it didn't make a difference, she still went all ****y about it <_<

And yeah when Anders says "One day I hope to return one just as meaningful" I was like :o Companions should tooootally give you presents!! It makes everything so much more sweet and pesonal - I loved having their things around the estate - BW should have added so much more stuff - and they should change and move around. Like I imagine once Anders has moved in one of the desks in the reading room or w/e should turn into his working area - and his personal stuff should be around. Buut I can see the devs having that kind of stuff at the bottom of their priority list :?

Oh man, she's gonna get pissy at me anyway? Ugh, best get her locked out before that point this time. Last time I didn't realise it makes whatever sheild she's equipped with the special one, so I had her stuck with a ridiculous elven one. So not happening this time, she looked like an idiot. At least she looked like an idiot because she wanted to make Hawke happy.
