I've never had a problem getting Anders interested - one of my Hawkes had nookie with Izzy and then moved on to Anders later. Fenris is very touchy, though. On the play I just finished, I had to start Chapter 2 from scratch because Fenris wasn't playing ball despite being at max friends, having had all the gifts and flirts and so forth, just because my Hawke had had one flirt with Izzy (for the approval points, y'know). So be warned.

Anyway, I've just finished my templar Hawke run, thank goodness. I absolutely hated knifing Anders, it was so sad. And I really hated Sebastian and the crap he comes out with when you go around giving everyone your final talks. I get that he's grieving but could he preach any more?

Off to make a new Hawke. Who will fall into Anders' arms once more.

@Silfren

If you did not flirt in Act 2, perhaps you could use a saved game editor to set the romance flag with Anders to "fix" the game?

Yes, or you could go into the console and set the romance flags?

And I'd gladly think of Mage Pride as an Anders theme too if wasn't so bloody similar to the Fenris theme.

This is the precise reason I like to think of it as an Anders theme, actually, haha. I always just imagine it as Anders trolling Fenris.

Fenris: Ah, my theme. No wait... it's a little different.
Anders: MAGE PRIDE BABY!!! Mages took your theme and made it better. :wizard:

Ohhh the Mage Pride :o Yes it can be a possible Anders theme haha

Edit: From all this talk about the soundtrack of DA2 got me to listen to it again right now  I really love the "Love Scene" theme :D

why doesn't that music play in the game

it's not even in the credits

Speaking of accessories, does anyone else stash away companion equipment? Whenever I give them new weapons, I always stash away the originals. For my siblings, before they die, I always give them a new weapon so I can keep their old one as a memento.

Or, sometimes I even do it if Hawke or Anders use something long enough. Like I keep hold of my favorite armor for canon Hawke, and if Anders had a particular staff long enough, I stash it away instead of selling it because I'm a dork like that.

Yes, yes I do this too. I can't sell any of their equipment. I also have a bad habit of always trying to give Anders spirit power staffs only. Merrill gets either nature or... the other one. Physical? I like to stick to ice, lightning or spirit. :wizard:

Oh! I do that too. I always give Anders only spirit power staffs. Merrill I usually give nature or lightning.

*raises hand* same here. I think it's because in early screenshots the spirit hand was there so in my mind it's just what Anders does. Merrill gets nature and I try to give my Hawkes lightning because it looks awesome Posted Image

I try to pretend that it's the "fist/gauntlet of Justice" when he has his spirit staff. I mean that was already my assumption when I first saw him in a game trailer anyways.
Unfortunately I cannot take screenshots with an xbox.
Maybe someday I'll get a nice computer and start playing these games on it.

EDIT

Oh. And I initially liked Anders because I thought his name was cool.

I don't know what it is about the LI's and coughing. Every time I see Anders cough or see the whole I-just-flirted-with-Fenris-and-now-he's-blushing-&-coughing I just get weak in the knees and I can't stop giggling for five minutes straight... Who knew coughing was cute and sexy?  :wub::wub:

I romanced Fenris then Merrill then Isabella then Anders. However, with each of the companions before Anders I made sure to click the broken heart icon to break up with them. I am not sure how hanging relationships affect starting a relationship with someone else in this game. Also, make sure you never ask anyone else to move in with you otherwise I think you cant romance anyone else. LAME.

Good luck!

Need Andersmance help, stat!

I'm trying to rp a Hawke who starts with Fenris but moves on to Anders after Fenris leaves her hanging after their night together. But...this is possible, right? I'm at full rivalry with Anders (which is how I want it) but even though we get the flirty options after the Dissent quest, no That Kiss scene. I think I read that sometimes you don't get to initiate his romance until Act 3. Is it the case here? I even tried reloading and choosing the heartbreak option with Fenris to make certain that relationship was cut off, but it didn't have an effect. Halp?!

I wanted to do that too! I was thinking about asking the same question here. When I rivalromanced Fenris, I remember in the beginning of act 3, when you go to the sewers for Anders mission, he asks about the elf, and you have the chance to say there's nothing going on between you anymore. I was wondering if he would keep trying to romance Hawke after that, and I even remember in act 2 I chose the brokenheart option for him once (the line when you say he's going too deep and you can't follow) because I was afraid that Anders flirting would hinder Fenris romance.

I'd suggest you wait until act 3 and see what happens, but I can't assure you it's gonna work. If somebody here has began with Fenris and finished wish Anders (rivalmance), please let us know how you did it!

I saw some people complaining that Anders doesn't have a theme song, while Fenris does. I never thought about it that way, always had the impression that Mage Pride was totally Anders theme (like Rogue Heart is probably Isabela's song), while Fenris'  theme is a mere simpler, instrumental version of Mage Pride, without the lyrics.

Lol, I did a playthrought with Male Hawk where he picked almost all the funny lines and had a friendly romance with Isabela - a very open one, I might add, though she didn't even invite him for a threesome with Zevran (and she did a foursome in Origins), and Hawke flirted in front of her without complaints, he even had the option to ask her if she wouldn't help a mage lose his virginity, geez), at some point he sleeps with Merril (poor childish Merril, she even blames it on herself for not working out, and says in the end how she wished it had been different), I kinda felt bad for myself, but to undo it I have to redo a lot of stuff (best to save often).
I didn't know female Hawk could romance everybody in a single play, let us know about Sebastian, if you can!

I agree that the situation with Anders probably wont be a big part (if any) of DA3, but the Mage Rebellion surely will have a big impact. I feel like the end of DA2 was the beginning of the chaos that will be DA3, even if DA3 doesnt focus solely on that part. The lack of any real conclusion to the situation at the end of DA2 has me standing on pins. I've GOT to know how this all plays out one way or another.

It's an awkward situation. Obviously I want a fully-fledged, in depth Anders as companion in DA3, but what I really dont want is an Alistair-style cameo.

If Anders survives Kirkwall, to my mind here is no way he could NOT be a massive part in the coming events, given that he instigated them. He's enemy number 1 and I just can't see him disappearing into some quiet, retired obscurity.

But this is what he's likely to get, if anything. I can't pretend that this doesn't bug me.

It'd be hard for them to have Anders as a central, active figure in DA3 as many people probably killed him (::sniffle::) in their DA2 games.  Bad, bad people!

....HOWEVER, maybe he isnt dead.  Hawke runs off to the final battle and leaves poor Anders behind.  Maybe Justice revives him somehow?  Or another mage comes in and heals him?  It could actually be pretty easy to bring him back without much stretching.

Bioware has a lot of outs in how they can retcon Anders back to the living, a lot more sensible ones than Leliana at least. In fact we have evidence of Anders survivng a templar sword through the chest in the short story, but word of Gaider is that Anders is quite dead.

I have a feeling ****more***** people kept him alive then they care to admit.

Most people don't like being called Terrorist supporters so I think they would not reveal whether they kept him alive.

As for those people who refer to Anders a terrorist....they need to look up the definition.
