I have a question, and I'm sure it was mentioned before but I'm not prone to reading 1580 pages of discussion as well as off-topic Anders Love (which I'm a big fan of, btw) just to catch up...
Did anyone read the short story about Anders? I'm sure you have. If so, then perhaps you can answer this question for me: Knowing what we know about Kristoff and Justice from Awakening and knowing that Anders is now joined with Justice, how can we feasibly think that stabbing him in the back killed Anders? While we might have destroyed the "Anders" part of Vengeance, we still left him a body to inhabit.
I know that Hawke doesnt know much better about spirits and possession (and I know what was said about Anders being really, most sincerely dead) but I just cant buy that. Vengeance was either like "Fine, whatever" and left, or he's still wearing his Anders suit. Can someone clarify this for me, or PM me with some clarification? It's always been a tad odd for me.
Word of Gaider says killing Anders in the end means he's dead. But you're right, that means nothing to Vengeance. And it would be interesting if he pulled a Kristoff and started walking around as a rotting, decaying Anders. Though I think it'd just about break the heart of any Hawke who romanced and killed him.
I think it's more likely, though, that Justice would look for another living body to inhabit. He saw the downsides of inhabiting a corpse in Awakening. Nate seemed to do a pretty good job convincing him to take a living host, I don't see him regressing just because Anders died. And since Anders wanted death, I think Justice would respect his friend's wishes enough to let him have that peace. Instead, it's time to look for Body #3.
If that's possible. Awakening established that Justice was
trapped outside the Fade, suggesting that Justice didn't have a means of simply "jumping" out of a body and re-appearing back in his original home. From day one I've taken that to mean that even if Anders' body was killed, then Justice would then just go back to being trapped in a corpse.
It's never been explained how Justice was able to "hop" into another body if he was somehow trapped in Kristoff, unless the conclusion to draw is that if he tried to exist a body without somewhere else to go, he'd just sort of dissipate. That seemed to be what Anders believed: "to live outside the Fade, he needed a host."
Then, of course, the short story would have us believe that Anders can't die thanks to his merger. This does seem to fly in the face of the rest of DA lore--if being an abomination makes you immortal, then how were either The Warden or Hawke able to kill abominations left and right? But as it stands, existing lore would indicate that Justice cannot simply leave Anders corpse and re-appear in the Fade. He's stuck in Anders body until another host comes along. Anders himself never seems to consider this, but I think it's the only reasonable conclusion.
